Chapter 753: Three Battlefields
The war in the Divine World's lower realms continued, but the tide had shifted.
The celestial guardians and heavenly agents had slain tens of thousands of corrupted monsters, yet the abyssal plague had already spread. The heavenly commanders and exalted gods had crushed the heavenly rebels and many corrupted monsters. Still, many fled and hid, waiting to strike again if the opportunity arose. The heaven's first layer was breached, and several Nirvana Abyssal Demons had touched the mortal realms.
The war was far from over, it had spread to all layers of heaven, and the calamity had touched the mortal worlds.
As the heavens raged with divine warfare, the mortal world had become its own battlefield.
The sky was cracked. The abyssal creatures beyond anyone's comprehension had descended. The war for survival had begun.
The gods could not descend right now. Their battle in the Divine World prevented them from interfering. This left the fate of the mortal world in the hands of mortal warriors, sacred cultivators, and divinely blessed champions.
At the vanguard of this war, the Sacred Sakura Holy Land stood at the forefront to face this great adversary.
Sacred Sakura served as the greatest bastion of divinity in the mortal world. The unshakable faith, standing in the name of their Supreme Goddess. The beacon of hope, leading the World Alliance to fight against the corrupted monsters of heaven.
Their Goddess had notified them of the inevitable day. Though it arrived far earlier than anyone could expect, it didn't matter as their Goddess already trained them for today. It was do or die. They had prepared to face this calamity.
From the fractured sky, several monstrous creatures crawled out.
"My Goddess Master..." Jophiel stared at the cracked sky with a pale expression. She clasped her hands in prayer, hoping for her master's safety and victory.
Her master had already told everyone about what was going to happen, but the prediction came so early. The cracks in the sky would signify the intensity of the upper world's holy war was getting out of control, deadly and brutal.
The calamity beast, born from pure abyssal corruption, emerged as it roared loudly to announce its arrival, causing the world to tremble. The abyssal plague bird spread its decayed wings, unleashing thick abyssal corruption and dangerous viruses. The voidborn terror jumped down from the dimensional fissure with its gaping maws opened wide, devouring an entire mountain upon its landing.
"They must be eradicated! Not a single one can be allowed to survive! Slay them when they are adapting to the mortal world's restrictions!" Gabriella, the first disciple of Sacred Sakura, led the allied force stationed in Sacred Sakura's region to annihilate the newly descended corrupted monsters.
It was just three calamities, and they had to deal with those monsters as fast as possible before more would descend.
The Sacred Sakura Holy Land, the most powerful force in the mortal world, immediately took charge in its full force. All allied forces across the world understood the weight and began to make their move as well.
A full-scale war erupted. The war against the calamity monsters spread across three battlefields.
The calamity beast of corruption descended on the Eastern Skyfort as if it was attracted by something. The Immortal Sword Sect and Sacred Sakura Holy Land held their ground at the Eastern Skyfort.
"Hold the walls! If they breach the fortress, the entire eastern lands will fall!" The Immortal Sword Sect's deity cried out, but the walls could barely do anything before such monstrous calamity.
The Skyfort's barrier held back the calamity beast of corruption, but only barely. The walls and barriers slowly crumbled only by the monster's aura.
The abyssal behemoth slammed against the formations and seals. Its monstrous strength cracked the sacred barriers.
Sacred Sakura's disciples and elders combined their forces to suppress the calamity beast to prevent its corruption from spreading and weaken it.
Sadly, the corruption had affected the land. Mutated fallen cultivators, once human, now grotesque demons, charged with unnatural speed and strength, killing their former comrades like mindless beasts.
The Immortal Sword Sect, as one of the strongest righteous sects in the Human Realm, had to grit their teeth and stelled their resolve to put their mutated comrades' misery to an end, liberating the dead from the corrupted monster's inflience.
Inside the Sacred Sakura's innermost barrier, the Sacred Sakura's strongest force led by Great Mage Alicia, fought tooth and nail against the calamity beast, taking advantage of its weakened state.
"It's not working... Stall for some time as we need to prepare a high-rank annihilation great magic array!" Alicia called out the other 10th Rank powerhouses. She retreated to Sacred Sakura's core disciples and her fellow mages, hoping those sword cultivators could make the monster busy for several minutes.
"Alright, miss. Leave it to us." The Immortal Sword Sect's deity joined the close combat battle.
He unleashed heaven-splitting sword techniques, cutting through monsters in the thousands, but it was futile because the monster's regeneration was insane. It could revive endlessly with no restriction.
However, his purpose there was something else. He and the Immortal Sword Sect's great elders stalled for time so Sacred Sakura's people could unleash the ultimate technique to annihilate the monster for real.
The sky darkened as more mutated demons and monsters emerged. The dead buried beneath the ground rose as mutated monsters. Casualties kept piling up, and they had to end this battle as quickly as possible.
---
In the western legendary chasm, the former battleground between Human Alliance and Demon Army. A fierce battle ensued near the deep, wide ravine that split Human Realm and Demon Realm into two.
Ancient demons, vampire clans, devil nobles, and demonic beasts stood as the last barrier before the voidborn terror's invasion.
"Purify this monster with anti-curse formation! Do not let it corrupt the land!" Abraham shouted out loud as he pinned down the gigantic terror alongside other demon deities.
They almost got overpowered, but they shared the burden of suppressing the godlike cursed creature evenly.
It might only be able to stall the monster for a few seconds, but that was enough time for the mages to prepare a formation to greatly weaken the enemy by stripping it of its main power sources.
The high-rank demonic mages turned their entire power into their sacred anti-curse staff, piercing through the grotesque abominations. Lightning-wielding demonic cultivators called summoned sky wrath, smiting the monster in blinding bursts. The vampires and devils took their position, striking from above like merciless reapers.
The demon deities retreated in time when the anti-curse formation weakened the enemy. During the bombardment, they didn't sit idly as they charged their ultimate technique as the finisher blew to end the monster once and for all.
The warriors, though demonic they had swear their allegiance to Sacred Sakura and its noble purpose. THey fought fiercely to protect the world, but the corruption was relentless.
The voidborn terror burst into a berserk state, unleashing insane power beyond anyone's comprehension.
Some warriors faltered as their minds got twisted by the abyssal nightmare. Some mages fell, and their bodies slowly turned into abyssal horrors.
The land slowly tainted with blackened blood as the corrupted monster was still bleeding profusely.
Seeing the timing to strike couldn't be delayed any longer or they would miss the best opportunity, the demon deities, glanced at each other in a tacit understanding.
They unleashed their strongest ultimate attack altogether, raining down the monster in one combined destructive force when the monster was still weakened and restricted by the anti-curse formation.
"Roar!" The voidborn terror roared in agony. It got killed and revived again and again.
The demonic deities kept unleashing their ultimate moves one after another as if they could do it all day to kill the monster until it could no longer revive, draining its life force without giving it any chance to counter anything.
Once the debuff was gone, the other combatants joined the bombardment, but half of them rushed to maintain the anti-curse mechanisms to suppress the monster. None dared to underestimate the monster because it came from the forbidden land of the Divine World, and fortunately, all they had learned from Sacred Sakura's teaching came in handy in this battle.
---
In the middle of the Human Realm where the Human Alliance was centered.
The human deities, demi-gods, and emperors gathered to form a massive formation to seal the abyssal plague bird.
The revered elf lords, dragon sovereigns, the beast kings, and exalted cultivators joined hands to suppress the cursed plague.
The entire city was emptied because the calamity struck the city. The fallen couldn't be saved, and the death toll was quite heavy since the attack came all of a sudden.
The survivors got evacuated at the earliest notice, and the city became a battleground right away, almost destroying the entire city's landscape.
"For our lands! For our people! We shall fight till the last breath!" Mingyue, the Blood Moon Saintess, raised her spirit sword as she led her Blood Moon's best warriors as the reinforcement to assist the Human Alliance in killing the godly cursed monsters.
Several holy sects and sacred lands also sent their reinforcements because they had to annihilate the monster and prevent the corruption as soon as possible or none of them could be held accountable for the consequences.
What they learned from Sacred Sakura was to prepare themselves for this day. Given what the Sacred Sakura Goddess reminded them, they could never take the matter lightly because the holy war also happened in the realm of immortality, the Divine World.
If they lost in this war, then no future would await them because the destruction was what would happen to end this era, just like the previous two eras.
They put their faith in the benevolent Goddess of Sacred Sakura. Therefore, when the divine warriors and immortals fought tooth and nail in the Divine World, they, though as mortals, had to protect their lands to the best of their abilities at all costs even if they would lose their lives for it.
"Saintess Mingyue, you're here. We can't charge in close combat as the curse and plague are too heavy for anyone to handle." Meiying, the Frozen Cloud Saintess, welcomed her comrade-in-arm's arrival.
She and her fellow best ice cultivators froze the plague and the monster alongside the other seal-type formations erected by various other sects. However, none could serve as a solution as their prevention could only last for a few minutes.
"..." Minyue went silent for a few seconds.
Her sect was closer to the battleground, but Meiying, although in the far northwest, came to this southern region faster than her.
She then tried to rack her brain. The massive cursed bird was currently immobile and sealed, but it still could not be slayed. Many warriors had already fallen even before she arrived, and the entire city was already razed to the ground.
It was easy to guess the deities, demi-gods, and warriors present already fought the monster and tried many things to find a solution to slay it, but none could work.
They temporarily couldn't ask Sacred Sakura for reinforcement because Sacred Sakura's main force was facing the calamity beast with the Immortal Sword Sect and few reinforcements. So, they had to think of a solution by themselves or the consequences would be severe once the monster broke free and went rampage.
