My Girlfriend is an Evil Woman

Chapter 20 - Why So Angry_

In the morning, Kitahara Hideji couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease after experiencing being “cut open” by the opponent. Despite the quick and seemingly painless death, he couldn’t help but feel a chilling sensation in retrospect. Many people have claimed that ancient combat techniques weren’t formidable, but in that era, people genuinely devoted their lives to mastering these skills. Even seemingly insignificant techniques might be backed by dozens or even hundreds of corpses as evidence. Those who spoke casually about ancient martial arts would probably last only a few seconds if they were sent back to that time.

0.5 seconds? 5 seconds?

Even if modern people have stronger bones, heavier muscle mass, and better physical attributes than their ancient counterparts, in a real bladed confrontation, surviving for five seconds would be considered a lot.

Skill often outweighs brute force in many situations!

He endured the discomfort and managed to sit through four classes, considering it a test of his willpower. During lunch break, their little group went to the cafeteria together. Uchida Yuma noticed Kitahara Hideji’s pale face and asked curiously, “Hey, Kitahara, are you feeling unwell? Why do you look so terrible?”

Kitahara Hideji shook his head with a smile, “It’s nothing. Maybe I didn’t rest well last night.”

Uchida Yuma immediately jumped to the wrong conclusion and said angrily, “Last night, I kept getting angrier as I thought about it. That shorty, Fukuzawa Fuyumi, is so sneaky! She planned to go all out and yet pretended to be all smiles. Despicable! And after that, she came over to taunt us. What a jerk!”

Kitahara Hideji was speechless for a moment. This guy, he’s not any better, acting all arrogant! Besides, even if you took it seriously, Fukuzawa Fuyumi would probably still defeat you.

He didn’t know how to respond and changed the subject, asking, “I saw you going in and out during the break. Did you find out anything?”

“Of course!” Uchida Yuma replied confidently, “I never paid attention to the ranking before, but after asking around, I found out that Fukuzawa Fuyumi is the third-ranked student in our year… Each of the top fifteen ranks was taken by a student from class 1, and she ended up in class C!”

Kitahara Hideji furrowed his brow, “Is she bothering us just because she lost to me in the entrance exam?”

He found it hard to believe. If that were the only reason, Fukuzawa Fuyumi would be mentally disturbed. What if she performed poorly on the college entrance exam? Would she end up stabbing all the students in front of her with a knife? It sounded like she was a potential serial killer in the making!

However, to be cautious, he asked, “Who is the top-ranked student then? Has Fukuzawa bothered them as well?”

Uchida Yuma had gathered some valuable information and replied promptly, “The top-ranked student is Suzuki Naki from Class A, but that shorty wouldn’t be able to cause her any trouble… Apparently, she’s always been sick and hasn’t shown up since the beginning of the school year.”

This made it difficult to determine Fukuzawa Fuyumi’s true intentions. Kitahara Hideji pondered for a moment, drawing on his older age and some understanding of society, and he started considering possible interests at play. He asked uncertainly, “Could it be because I took Fukuzawa’s spot for the free scholarship?”

Private schools in Japan could be quite expensive, and if Fukuzawa lost a considerable sum of money due to his scholarship, it would make sense for her to retaliate.

Uchida Yuma quickly shook his head, “No, she’s also a scholarship student, and her tuition fees are fully waived. Moreover, she can get a scholarship if she ranks in the top ten of the entrance exam.” He seemed a bit jealous as he added, “It’s so unfair. I have to pay for my education, while you guys not only get it for free but can also earn money.”

Kitahara Hideji ignored his nonsensical complaint. If you want a scholarship too, stop obsessing over those lists like the “Ranking of Beauties,” “European-style Butts,” and “Perfect Legs.” Spend some time reading books instead of staring at girls all day.

He asked, puzzled, “If it’s not because of that, then what could be the reason?”

Uchida Yuma said firmly, “I’m telling you, she’s a psycho, definitely mentally disturbed! By the way, Kitahara, what do you think if I spread rumors saying that the shorty actually claims to be 1.5 meters tall when she’s only 1.45 meters, deceiving everyone? Her innate vanity and subsequent inferiority complex have led to her dark and unstable mind. She’s a potential danger and a potential violent criminal. She might end up killing someone one of these days. Let’s isolate her from everyone… How does that sound?”

Kitahara Hideji had nothing to say. Trying to smear her behind her back just because you can’t beat her? Weren’t you calling her despicable just now? He didn’t feel like doing something like that and replied mockingly, “Save it, no one will believe you.”

Any sane person would know who to trust just by looking at Fukuzawa Fuyumi and Uchida Yuma’s appearances. Despite her annoying personality, Fukuzawa Fuyumi was still cute. As for Uchida Yuma, he was the epitome of a sly and cunning person.

Uchida Yuma scratched his head awkwardly and said, “Then what should we do? We can’t beat her, so are we going to let her bully us? Do you believe that she won’t provoke us during the swordsmanship class again… I’ve been practicing for a year, Rei has been practicing for two and a half years, but she probably started from a young age. She might have practiced for ten years already. It’s completely unfair to fight her! Rei, don’t you agree?”

Uchida Yuma sought support, but when he turned to Shima Rei, he saw him following a step behind with his head down. Kitahara Hideji glanced at him and asked, “What’s wrong, Shima-kun?”

Shima Rei let out a deep sigh and murmured, “It’s nothing. I had an argument with my sister last night, so I’m feeling a bit down.”

Uchida Yuma was shocked and asked, “You really argued with her?” He reached out to hold Shima Rei’s chin, but Shima Rei quickly pushed his hand away and said angrily, “Don’t touch me.”

As Shima Rei lifted his head, Kitahara Hideji noticed something was wrong. There were faint bruises around Shima Rei’s eyes, showing a hint of discoloration. Uchida Yuma also noticed it and angrily said, “She hit you again, that wicked woman! I’ll get revenge for you!”

Shima Rei glanced at him quietly and pointed towards his feet, “Her classroom is on the second floor. Do you want me to take you there?”

Uchida Yuma hesitated, realizing that he wasn’t in middle school anymore. He now attended the same school as Shima Kanae, so he couldn’t just make empty promises and had to back up his words. He replied awkwardly, “It’s not appropriate to do that at school. After all, she’s a Senpai.”

Shima Rei then suggested, “How about you come with me to my place after school?”

Uchida Yuma shrunk his shoulders, feeling too intimidated to say anything.

Kitahara Hideji interjected, “Shima-kun, you don’t have to let us interfere with your relationship with your sister… What happened yesterday is not a big deal.” Shima Rei had been working hard to recruit members for his sister’s club, but his sister didn’t seem to care and treated them with an air of arrogance. Shima Rei was probably upset about that, but Kitahara Hideji didn’t care much. He was trying to build a good relationship with Shima Rei, not Shima Kanae.

Shima Rei shook his head lightly and mumbled, “Our relationship has never been good since we were kids.”

Uchida Yuma added, “Yeah, she even forced him to wear…” He was cut off midway when Shima Rei punched him, making him cry out in pain and shut up.

Seeing Shima Rei’s angry expression, Uchida Yuma realized that he had truly angered him and stammered, “Kitahara is not a stranger. It’s not a big deal if he knows!”

Shima Rei remained silent with his lips pressed tightly together, clearly disagreeing. Uchida Yuma was about to say something else when his face suddenly changed. Kitahara Hideji turned to see Fukuzawa Fuyumi approaching them.

Fukuzawa Fuyumi looked tired and seemed to be sleepwalking, but there was an uncanny connection between her and Kitahara Hideji. As soon as Kitahara Hideji’s gaze fell on her, she suddenly became alert and stared back at him fiercely. Fukuzawa Fuyumi didn’t avoid his gaze; she continued to walk straight towards him, with her cold eyes fixed on him.

The aisle was wide enough for five or six people to walk side by side, but Fukuzawa Fuyumi showed no intention of going around. She walked straight ahead with a sharp and imposing presence. As they met, Uchida Yuma felt overwhelmed by her aura and involuntarily stepped aside to make way for her.

Fukuzawa Fuyumi didn’t say thanks but simply passed between them with her head still tilted and her little fangs exposed, keeping her gaze fixed on Kitahara Hideji. He, in turn, calmly met her eyes with a tilt of his head.

As Fukuzawa Fuyumi couldn’t physically turn her neck one hundred and eighty degrees, she made a gesture of disdain before bursting into laughter and calling out, “If you ever want to experience Kendo, you can find me anytime! Hahaha! As long as you have the guts!”

After her triumphant declaration, she seemed to think she had won and swaggered away with her head held high.

Uchida Yuma finally realized what he had done and felt embarrassed by his submissive behavior. He muttered under his breath, “What’s with her and her arrogance, that little dwarf!”

Meanwhile, Kitahara Hideji kept his eyes on Fukuzawa Fuyumi’s retreating figure, pondering, “It seems like it’s not over yet. Why is this little radish so angry?”
