Chapter 29: Help Me, Doraemon White Crane

Jiang He remembered that 【Wolf Pack】 was a transcendent organization that appeared in January 2032.

This organization, relying on top-tier concealment talents, blocked the foresight of the Prophet, completely trampled on the authority of the Council, and declared the arrival of transcendent anarchy.

But now it was May 2029, nearly three years before that.

How could the missing Li Zhi appear five years later and even become a member of the Wolf Pack?

Unless…

At this very moment, the Wolf Pack had already been established.

It was just that it had been hiding in the darkness, gathering strength, and would only truly appear before the world a few years later.

“Correct.” White Crane said: “Unlike 【Darkest Hour】, which was formed by a rabble, the 【Wolf Pack】 was truly an ambitious organization.”

“It had already existed before the Arc Light incident occurred, and through human trafficking, it secretly collected transcendent seeds, brainwashed them, and cultivated them into the Evil Wolves of the organization.”

“There are also its claws here.”

“And now, the chaotic state of Central State City is very suitable for their operations— even if a few cases of missing persons occur, it will not attract much attention.”

Jiang He seemed to see an Evil Wolf lurking in the night, always ready to hunt—

Compared to mere reckless rioters venting their vengeance, this kind of evil organization that spread its tendrils silently in the shadows was clearly far more terrifying.

He swallowed his saliva.

“Why didn’t they target me?”

White Crane covered his eyes.

Although the younger self had already matured somewhat, the words that occasionally slipped out still carried a certain clarity of foolishness.

“You are a highly valued S-rank talent. How stupid would the Wolf Pack have to be to try to kidnap you?”

Jiang He looked embarrassed.

The Wolf Pack didn’t want to attract attention; its targets would only be those children with excellent, unique talents, but not so outstanding as to be untouchable.

Just yesterday, right after the Arc Light Organization incident occurred, Li Zhi immediately went missing—clearly, he had already been marked.

But then again.

“White Crane, since you knew so clearly, why didn’t you tell me in advance?”

“Xiao Zhi went missing last night. You clearly had time to save him…”

Facing Jiang He’s question, White Crane said: “I forgot.”

Jiang He: “Forgot?”

“The Wolf Pack’s actions will not affect you now.” White Crane’s expression was calm: “As for a few missing persons cases, whether for today’s Central State City or for the Wolf Pack’s larger operations, they are insignificant.”

“Compared to these small matters, there are far more things worth my consideration.”

Jiang He was incredulous: “That’s Xiao Zhi! Auntie Yang’s son!”

“What difference does that make? Do you really hold deep feelings for him?” White Crane asked indifferently: “Then let me ask you—what is Li Zhi’s talent?”

“It’s…”

Jiang He was momentarily speechless.

Li Zhi being taken by the Wolf Pack was clearly because of his talent.

But he hadn’t spoken with Auntie Yang’s family in years, and he had no impression at all of what talent Li Zhi possessed.

He wasn’t even sure when Li Zhi awakened, nor did he know what Li Zhi currently looked like.

White Crane was right.

In Jiang He’s mind, “Li Zhi” was just a neighbor’s kid he had known years ago. Even Chi Zhilei, whom he had only just met, was a far more vivid presence than Li Zhi.

Since he himself already thought this way, how could he expect White Crane—who had experienced countless events sixty years later—to treat Li Zhi as someone important?

And yet, Jiang He inexplicably felt heavy-hearted. After a moment of silence, he raised his head and looked at White Crane.

“I’m going to bring Li Zhi back.”

White Crane looked at him calmly: “Why?”

Why?

Because he was a child he once knew? Because Jiang He was worried about him?

Jiang He recalled Auntie Yang’s figure, just now sitting alone by the flowerbed in tears, and thought of himself back then—crying alone at home after losing his parents.

That helpless despair, that loneliness of being abandoned by the world, still cut deep into his bones even now.

“Because she is asking for help.” Jiang He said.

“Help me, Jiang He.”

This time, Jiang He didn’t use a pronoun, but spoke her name aloud.

White Crane let out a sigh: “Really can’t do anything about you.”

He snapped his fingers.

Countless fine droplets of water drifted from the air, converging into a few beads.

Those few water beads transformed into arrows and floated into the distance.

Jiang He: “What’s this?”

“Auntie Yang’s tears, containing her ‘emotions.’” White Crane said: “After being strengthened, they will automatically drift toward the one she longs for—that is, Li Zhi’s location.”

“Come on, follow them and you’ll find Li Zhi. With luck, he hasn’t yet left Central State City.”

Jiang He followed the tears out of the neighborhood.

He ran along the road, heading away from the city center toward the outskirts. After running several kilometers, he reached the old district near the suburbs, crossed through alleys, and stopped in front of a two-story villa courtyard.

The tears squeezed through the crack of the courtyard door.

Jiang He raised his hand and knocked.

No response.

So he raised his foot.

Bang!!!

This was the first time since breaking through as an F-rank transcendent that Jiang He had unleashed his power so freely.

Faced with the attack strength of a 20-point physique, the iron gate twisted, its hinges broke, and it flew straight off.

But halfway through its flight, it was caught by someone raising his hand.

A burly man grabbed the gate with one hand, his face dark: “Who are you? Why are you kicking down my door?!”

“Sorry, no one responded for so long, I thought no one was home.” Jiang He kept his right hand behind his back and said: “My younger brother is missing, may I ask if he is here?”

Hearing this, the burly man frowned: “What younger brother? If you’re looking for someone, go to the Security Bureau!”

He spoke impatiently, dragging the gate toward Jiang He: “You’re just a little brat, I can’t be bothered to argue with you. Before I lose my temper, scram!”

Before the man finished speaking, a blazing flame smashed straight at him.

His expression changed, and he tried to use the iron gate to block the fire, quickening his steps toward the doorway.

But before he even took half a step, he heard a voice of authority.

「Lord Flame」

The fire touching the iron gate contracted, then erupted violently, the entire courtyard flaring up like a blazing sun!

When the light dimmed, the whole yard was covered in flames, the ground melted, and a charred black figure collapsed with a thud.

“Why…”

The charred man muttered weakly, his fading consciousness full of unwillingness.

His talent was 【Sleep】—as long as someone got close, he could force them into slumber… Yet he hadn’t even had the chance to use it before being instantly killed.

Jiang He bypassed him, stepped through the burning courtyard, and entered the house.

Why?

Because he trusted White Crane’s judgment.

And if it were a normal household whose door had just been smashed, wouldn’t the first reaction be anger, calling the authorities, and demanding compensation? To simply drive him away so strangely—unless the man had a guilty conscience and didn’t want the Security Bureau involved.

Jiang He walked up to the two-story villa, then stopped.

Looking inside through the French windows, he saw no figures.

But from the air, he could smell “killing intent.”
