Chapter 280
“How was it?”
“What?”
While sipping her coffee, Eve suddenly asks, taking me by surprise. When I reflexively ask back, Eve puffs her cheeks slightly.
“My lecture. Daniel will be listening, so I prepared really hard for it, you know?”
“Oh, that? It was good. I think it’s especially motivating for the kids.”
The students’ feedback was positive, and some even felt regretful that they wanted to hear it again. But since my answer didn’t seem to satisfy Eve, she propped her chin up and sulked.
“Isn’t there something else? How many opportunities do we get to openly boast about our affection in front of others?”
“…You.”
“Actually, I was thinking of calling for volunteers first, but some student asked a good question, so I could naturally call Daniel.”
“Oh, come on, didn’t you see how our professors dislike this?”
“Hehe, what does it matter? As long as we’re happy.”
“…When did you grow up this much?”
Where has the trembling, shy Eve from back in the day gone? Sighing, Eve sticks her lips out and pokes my cheek with the straw she was using to drink her coffee.
“So, do you dislike it?”
“Isn’t asking like that cheating?”
“Answer quickly.”
“I like it too much.”
“Hehe.”
Whenever she conducts lectures in front of other students, she transforms into a fully matured woman, but when we talk, her innocent self comes out again.
And I secretly felt a strange satisfaction thinking this must be Eve’s true self.
After all, the only person who gets to see her real side is me.
“Oh, by the way, I have another lecture tomorrow. Since it’s a freshman-sophomore lecture, Daniel can’t attend.”
“Oh, really?”
While sipping my coffee absentmindedly, Eve puffs her cheeks up once more. Shouldn’t I at least get some choice in this?
Why is it so complicated?
Has she become sensitive now that she’s a writer?
“Is that all you have to say?”
“Fighting?”
“Do it again.”
The moment I heard those words, a chill ran down my spine and I choked on my coffee. Cough cough, as I turned my head to cough, Eve gasped and instantly apologized.
“S-Sorry! That was a forbidden word for Daniel!”
“Please.”
“Geez, what on earth have you been through to be like this?”
“……”
There’s a reason I developed this strange trauma. And the two culprits are none other than these two.
Rin and Eris.
If I had to pick the ones I formed the closest relationships with during this past month of staying at my house, it would definitely be those two.
Especially at the end when it felt like they were competing against each other.
“Do it again.”
“It’s me again.”
“Do it again.”
“Follow the order.”
My head started to throb. As if enchanted by the sweet scent of the two women, I couldn’t deny that the simple memory of just shaking my hips felt like a good memory that I could never embellish, no matter how much time passed.
“Anyway, I plan to monopolize Daniel today.”
“Got it.”
So that’s why May ground her teeth and slapped me before leaving, huh?
“Such situations are rare, so I’m saying I’ll stay with you until the end.”
Now I finally understood the meaning behind her words. It wasn’t difficult, so I nodded and gave her an answer that matched her intention.
“I’ll go to your accommodation.”
What’s so difficult about that? We’ve seen and done everything for a month now. But even so, Eve still looked dissatisfied.
“Daniel always wanders around the answer.”
“No, at this point, just tell me.”
“Sigh, when will Daniel grow up?”
I never imagined I’d hear Eve say something like that. As she rhythmically tapped the edge of her coffee cup with her straw, she said,
“I’ll go to Daniel’s room.”
“……What difference does that make?”
When I questioned her with a genuinely confused expression, Eve replied as if it was ridiculous.
“There must be May’s smell in that room right now.”
“……”
Honestly, I was really surprised.
How can she be so spot-on?
Is she a witch now instead of a writer?
That’s right.
Maybe because of the trace of my love with May, my bed was currently soaked with her scent. Though I could wash the blankets, the imprint left on the sheets wouldn’t come out easily.
“I’ll cover it with my scent. From now on, you won’t be able to think of anyone but me while you sleep.”
“Ahh.”
It all makes sense now.
Having been wrong about the answers until now, I suddenly got a brilliant idea and clapped my hands dramatically, exclaiming,
“Eve sweats a lot!”
I couldn’t continue my sentence because Eve swiftly punched me in the gut. Other customers in the café turned to stare at us, but Eve pouted while still fuming.
“You sure know how to touch on those sensitive spots!”
“I-I didn’t mean it like that?!”
“Seriously! If it weren’t for you saving the continent, you NEVER would’ve been able to talk to a woman! You should be grateful to the gods!”
I’m at a loss now.
Because of the attention from the people around, we could no longer stay in the café, so we headed out into the city.
“Shall we have dinner?”
“Mmm.”
The sky had darkened by now.
Since we hadn’t eaten dinner yet, I thought about grabbing a bite at a nearby place, but Eve shook her head.
“Let’s take it back to the dorm and eat there. I want to be comfortable inside.”
Following her request, we packed up easy-to-eat foods and headed to the dormitory.
Avoiding the eyes of fellow students wasn’t as easy as I thought, but since Eve had done it so many times during her time as a student, she skillfully led us to my room.
She moved with an agility that made me mistake her for Sen.
“Wow! It’s been a while, so I was a little nervous.”
“I thought you were a pro.”
“If it were with Tana, it would have been way easier, but it’s a shame.”
“……”
I’ve spoiled the kids. I should have somehow stopped them from coming to my room back then.
“Let’s eat first! I’m hungry!”
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
Starting from simple skewers to a spicy fish cake soup to warm us up. Suddenly, Eve pulled out some alcohol from the takeaway bag with a smile.
“Hehe, Daniel, just watch.”
As she began drinking on her own, her pace was surprisingly fast and the contents were emptied in no time.
“Hey, don’t drink so quickly!”
“Yeeah, I’m short on time today!”
“Hmm?”
It’s only about 9 p.m. There’s still plenty of time, isn’t there?
“Look! The blanket smells like May!”
“Well… I can’t help that.”
“Exactly, and that’s why I’m drinking, to shake off my embarrassment.”
Whoosh!
Eve tossed her sweater aside. With only her underwear on, her voluptuous chest caught my eye whether I wanted it to or not, and noticing this, Eve leaped towards me and pulled me into a hug.
“Ugh!”
“You said you were with the Goddess of Death, right?”
“Puh! Hey! Let’s wash up first…”
“No! If I wash up, the shampoo scent will mix with the bed!”
“I-I want to wash too?! You might have lost your shame after drinking, but I haven’t!”
“Hoho! That doesn’t matter. I like Daniel’s sweat smell.”
*
I sneaked a look at the clock, and it pointed to 1 a.m.
The marathon that started at 9 p.m. had finally come to an end.
Gasp! Gasp!
Eve was sprawling on the bed, breathing heavily. With every breath, her chest rose and fell dramatically, it was hypnotic to look at.
“Should we wash up?”
“Yeah, I guess…”
As Eve tried to get up, her thighs shook and she collapsed back onto the floor. The bed was so soaked it seemed it could drown someone.
‘Should I change the bed?’
If it was just wet from Eve’s sweat, it would be fine to wash, but this isn’t only sweat…
Clears throat.
I hold my tongue.
Saying anything to Eve who has come to her senses from the alcohol could make her embarrassed and possibly shameful.
I could blame it on myself for pushing her when she cried for a break.
‘Thank goodness Eve can use magic.’
Though it’s not of a high level, I’m glad she can at least do soundproofing magic.
Otherwise, we would have had to share our sounds with the next room.
“Um, Daniel, I can’t move.”
Eve, who was trying to head to the bathroom, looked like a caterpillar crawling along the ground, having stopped halfway. With her bottom sticking up, it was hard not to reach out my hand unconsciously.
“…Um, Daniel.”
“No, this is instinct.”
“I get that, so put your hand away.”
“Hmm.”
“…Put it away.”
“Just wait a second.”
I kept my mouth shut, pondered, then smiled with satisfaction.
“You were really mean to me in town today.”
“J-Just now! I was just looking for an excuse to do it! You forced a reason!”
“No, I’ve been thinking about it since earlier.”
I walked closer to Eve.
“Wait! I’m really struggling now?! I’m really going to d…ugh!”
