My Favorite Has Started A Live Broadcast!

Chapter 25 - Baseless Negativity in Dark Times

“Ugh… My head hurts…”

Grabbing my throbbing head, I looked around.

“Hmhm…”

The surroundings were the same as always, my small basement bed.

I was still wearing the clothes I had gone out in, and the hat I wore yesterday was lying by the bedside.

To calm this annoyingly painful headache, I didn’t even wash my hair and just walked to the convenience store, still reeking of alcohol.

“…Hoo…”

It was either because I passed out right after coming home, or my head just hurt too much to notice, but the time had just passed 7 AM.

I put away my phone and walked into the convenience store.

“Welcome…!”

“Yeah…”

I barely acknowledged the part-timer’s greeting, bought a hangover remedy, and started walking back home.

“Gulp… Gulp…”

After quickly downing the hangover drink and chasing it with a glass of water, I felt a bit more clear-headed.

“…”

Lying on my bed, I started recalling the events of yesterday.

“Yesterday… I went to Daehangno… confessed… drank… then…”

No matter how hard I thought about it, I couldn’t remember anything after drinking.

Just as my mind was filling with anxiety, worrying if I had caused some kind of trouble, my phone rang.

– Sooyoung

“….”

With a tense heart, I carefully picked up the phone.

“…Hello?”

– Oh, you’re awake.

“Uh… about yesterday…”

– Yesterday…? Haha… Anyway, check KakaoTalk later, okay? Are you feeling alright?

“My head hurts…”

– Poor thing. Anyway, have a great day, lovebird~!

Click-

“…What?”

Sooyoung hung up after saying something incomprehensible.

The strange words only made my anxiety grow.

“What the heck… I should wash up first.”

Skipping a shower to check KakaoTalk wasn’t an option since I reeked of alcohol.

I quickly showered and came out.

Vrrrrr-

After taking a cold shower, my mind felt clearer.

I scrubbed myself thoroughly with soap, so the alcohol smell was almost gone. It took an hour, though.

“Hmm…”

While drying my long hair, I checked KakaoTalk.

There were just two things in the group chat.

A 10-minute video and a “ㅋㅋ”.

Even though I doubted whether my sanity would survive after watching that, my fingers had already pressed play on the video.

“…”

After a brief loading screen, the video started playing.

Sooyoung POV

The beginning of the incident.

“To us!”

Clink-

Three glasses clinked together with some awkward toasts, and we indulged in the privilege of adulthood.

“Ah…”

“Ugh… Bitter…”

As expected, the alcohol I hadn’t had in a while hit my throat hard.

Minho, who was sitting next to me, hated drinking, so I was just grateful he showed up.

I put down my glass and grabbed a piece of meat, looking straight ahead.

“…”

“Hey…? You okay?”

In front of me, an old friend who had somehow turned into a beautiful woman was mumbling with glazed-over eyes.

“…”

Su-yeon glanced around with a dissatisfied look, then stuffed a big bite of stir-fried pork into her mouth, chewing happily with her chopsticks.

She was never one to drink much.

Even at occasional drinking parties, she only had a few drinks and spent the rest of the time chatting with others.

Even now, she seemed drunk, as her speech was slurred.

“Isn’t she… drunk?”

Minho leaned in and whispered quietly.

“One drink…? No way.”

Bang!

“…!”

Su-yeon suddenly slammed the table, but it made a loud noise, and she rubbed her hand, glaring at us.

“What?”

“You guys… talking without me in the drinking party? Don’t ignore me!”

“…You’re slipping into dialect.”

“Shut up, you bastard.”

“…”

It had been a long time since I heard Su-yeon curse, and it made us all stare at her with wide eyes.

“Did you just come to quietly drink?”

“Uh… that’s not it, but…”

“Then say something.”

“Uh… How have you been?”

I asked the most basic question for a drinking party, but I quickly realized it was a mistake.

“That’s a question?”

“…”

“The world has been unjust to me! This is unfair! Unfair!”

She shouted, downing another glass of alcohol.

“Hey, hey! You’re drunk. Stop drinking.”

“Shut up, you bastard! I’m going to tell you all the crap that happened to me today!”

Even though I tried to stop her, she quickly emptied her glass again.

It seemed pointless to stop her, so we resigned ourselves and filled her glass.

Lee Su-yeon POV

Switching to a drunken perspective.

“To us!”

The sound of clinking glasses echoed in the small tent bar, and the alcohol flowed down our throats.

“…”

For some reason, more people started filling up the tent bar, which had been empty except for us.

It would’ve been fine if that was the end of it, but they kept glancing at me as they came in and even after sitting down.

It was annoying.

I tried to make my face look as threatening as possible, but my friends started looking at me weirdly.

Feeling embarrassed, I stuffed a piece of stir-fried pork into my mouth.

The spicy red pork had just the right amount of heat and tasted great.

I should make this later with my little sister.

“Isn’t that…?”

“That’s…”

Sooyoung and Minho were whispering while looking at me.

Talking about me right in front of me, that was a valid reason to be mad.

I put down my now empty glass…

Bang!

I accidentally almost dropped my glass, but I managed to catch it, making a loud noise.

I was startled, but this was a good chance.

I used my mistake to wrap myself in rage and pretended to be angry so the conversation could finally start.

So, how have I been…?

I’ve been sick, changed, made my family cry, couldn’t even see my favorite…

Clearly, the gods of this world hate me and have been unfair to me.

I rambled on about all the unjust things that had happened to me, quickly emptying my glass.

My friends, rather than avoiding my complaints, were listening well…

“Minho!! Are you playing games again?!”

“Huh? Uh… No? I was just checking something.”

“I see… Sorry for boring you with my stupid stories…”

Seeing my friends glued to their phones sapped all the energy from me, and I lost the will to keep talking.

Looking at them just staring at their screens gave me a sense of betrayal.

“Um… Excuse me?”

Someone called out to me in my gloomy state.

I turned my head toward the voice.

“…?”

“Do you… have a boyfriend?”

“Huh? I have guy friends, like these two.”

The guy who had been glancing at me from earlier asked if I had a boyfriend.

“…”

“Then… could I get your number?”

He quickly handed over his phone, but I had no intention of giving him my number.

“No.”

“Huh? Am I that bad? Couldn’t we just go on one date?”

He persisted.

“You’re handsome, but not my type.”

“Then what’s your type…?”

Persistent.

“Hmm… someone older.”

I already had two younger sisters, so I didn’t want to deal with younger guys.

“And… with a husky voice.”

A voice like Chocoa’s that makes you feel good just hearing it.

“With short hair.”

I used to prefer long hair, but after watching Chocoa, I realized the charm of short hair.

“And lastly… a woman. I like women.”

“…”

The guy went back to his seat, looking defeated.

“What time is it?”

“Huh? About 8?”

We’d been talking for a while, and apparently, an hour had passed.

But if it’s 8 o’clock…

“Nooo! Chocoa’s stream must’ve started…!”

Chocoa’s stream starts at 6.

If she was tired today, she might have already finished.

I hurriedly used what little data I had left to check Twitch for Chocoa.

“Nooo, the stream’s over!”

Realizing I had missed her stream, a wave of deep sorrow washed over me.

“Waaah…”

“Didn’t you say she wasn’t streaming today?”

Minho, who had been glued to his phone all day, said something that gave me a sudden realization.

“Today’s… Sunday?”

“And?”

“Waaah!”

I started crying even louder than before.

If I missed the stream, I could just watch the VOD later, but if she didn’t stream at all, there wouldn’t even be a VOD.

“Waaah! Chocoa! Please stream…! I love you so much! Why won’t you stream…!”

I stuffed a few more pieces of meat into my mouth to alleviate the sadness.

“…Hehe…”

“Hey… Just call her a cab.”

“Yeah, let’s not let her drink again.”

The 10-minute video ended with the quiet voices of my friends.

As soon as the video ended, a message came through on KakaoTalk.

Minho – Read it.

Sooyoung – Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

“…”

I slammed my phone onto the bed, hugged my pillow tightly, and threw the blanket over myself.

“Kyaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!”

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

In the dark basement, covered with dark clouds, the sound of someone kicking the blanket echoed for several minutes.
