My Card Girl's Infinite Evolution

Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Am I Not Meant to Be a Death Knight?

"Who are you?"

Bai Moxue stared at Luo Sheng for a while, feeling a strange sense of familiarity—both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. It was an odd sensation.

"If you don't run now, you'll really become the Ghost King's concubine. You wouldn't want to be pricked with needles, would you? The long and thick kind," Luo Sheng teased, noticing the bull-headed demon and the pale-faced ghosts closing in.

He mimicked the action of wielding a needle for added effect.

After all, with the Ghost King's vast harem, there must be someone like a wicked nanny from period dramas, making needle-poking a natural outcome.

"You impudent brat, courting death, aren't you!" The bull-headed demon bellowed upon seeing Luo Sheng approach the crimson bridal sedan.

These ghostly guards were formidable. While Acoley's explosive arts could severely injure them, they weren't lethal. Besides, there were over a dozen varieties of demons and spirits with bizarre abilities, and Luo Sheng found it challenging to handle such a large, diverse crowd.

"Alright!" Bai Moxue realized the urgency of the situation. She extended her pale arms, hooked them around Luo Sheng's neck, and leapt over the crimson sedan, landing directly on the backseat of his motorcycle.

"Hold tight," Luo Sheng said casually as he felt a cool sensation on his back. Twisting the throttle, the engine roared to life.

*Vroom... Vroom... Vroooom!*

The deafening roar erupted from the bike's exhaust, spitting blue flames. Its rear wheels scraped the ground, kicking up dirt as the motorcycle sped off, leaving only the taillights behind.

"Don't let them escape!" The bull-headed demon roared.

The demons and ghosts scrambled after them, their speed astonishing. Many spirits floated through the air, chasing relentlessly. The bull-headed demon mounted a skeletal leopard and charged forward with ferocious speed, making for a peculiar scene.

Clinging to Luo Sheng's waist and bracing against the rushing wind, Bai Moxue glanced in the rearview mirror. The ghosts were catching up. She tightened her grip, panicking. "They're getting closer!"

"Relax. If I can crash a wedding, I can get you out of here," Luo Sheng said confidently.

After all, Bai Moxue was his card companion. How could he let her be overwhelmed by the Ghost King's oppressive power?

With a quick motion, he opened a concealed compartment under the motorcycle's gas tank, revealing an array of grenades and mines. He tossed several petal mines behind them.

The next second, explosions rang out in succession.

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

Fire erupted, shockwaves rippled, and the ground trembled as demons and ghosts were sent flying. Flames shot into the sky, and their speed significantly slowed.

"Damn brat! Come down here and fight me one-on-one!" the bull-headed demon cursed, his horns scorched and bent by the blasts. His skeletal leopard mount had lost a leg, leaving him both disheveled and furious.

As one of the Ghost King's top generals, he had never experienced such humiliation. He fantasized about capturing Luo Sheng, tearing him limb from limb, throwing him into an endless inferno, and cooking him in boiling oil.

Mid-rant, Luo Sheng chuckled and shouted, "Come and eat sh*t, big guy!" Tossing a handful of grenades, he triggered another dazzling chain of explosions. Firelight filled the air as cries of pain echoed behind them.

Eventually, the duo sped out of the black forest, breaking through the Underworld's gates into the human world. The dawn painted the sky a warm white, the water reflecting the horizon.

The bull-headed demon stood at the gates, glaring at their receding figures, grinding his teeth. "Just you wait! When night falls, I'll find you and tear you to shreds!"

Having escaped the Underworld and dodged the Pure Love Paladin, Luo Sheng brought Bai Moxue to a remote human village far from the Ghost Gate. At an inn, Luo Sheng noticed Bai Moxue's condition: her body was turning semi-transparent, and she looked extremely weak.

"Damn, I forgot you're a ghost, and I had you racing under broad daylight."

"…"

Bai Moxue shot him a resentful glance, wondering how someone could be so careless. But this was her first time as a ghost, so she didn't fully understand her limitations either.

Luo Sheng carried her into a dimly lit room, where she slowly recovered some energy. However, her face remained pale, though it now carried a hint of softness.

"Hey… Are you okay? Is there anything I can do to help?" Luo Sheng asked, feeling guilty upon seeing her weakened state.

This was his first time botching a mission involving his card world. The thrill of the bike ride must've distracted him, causing him to forget about his passenger. He feared Bai Moxue might degrade into a damaged card—or worse, shatter completely—leaving him heartbroken.

Just then, Bai Moxue removed her golden hairpin, letting her silky black hair cascade down her back. Dressed in her vibrant bridal gown, her delicate feet subtly brushed against Luo Sheng.

"Wait, what are you doing? I'm not that kind of guy!" Luo Sheng stammered, his body stiffening at the icy yet soft touch. "Don't tell me the sun fried your brain?"

"A frail girl like me… Doesn't my savior wish to help me recover?" Bai Moxue tilted her head, her misty eyes gazing at him with a hint of allure.

"How is this supposed to help? This is clearly seduction! I'm not becoming a Death Knight!" Luo Sheng was utterly bewildered.

Wasn't this the same Bai Moxue who had been willing to die to protect her chastity, even at the cost of perishing alongside the Ghost King? Why was she now so soft and demure, her charm impossible to ignore?

Could he have an irresistible charisma? No way. Luo Sheng, confident in his good looks, quickly ruled out the possibility. This situation defied all logic.

"Death Knight? Hmm, interesting title… My lord, didn't you crash the wedding to claim me? Otherwise, why risk offending the Ghost King to take me away?" Bai Moxue murmured, inching closer, her captivating eyes sparkling mischievously.

As her red lips neared his, accompanied by her faint, tantalizing fragrance, Luo Sheng felt his composure unraveling...
