Chapter 60: Chapter 60: The Ice Queen Falls for Yui
When Su Yu arrived at the Service Club, Yukino Yukinoshita had just finished brewing tea.
Seeing the two of them enter, she smiled slightly and poured them each a cup.
"Hina Ebina and Yumiko Miura?" she asked.
"Hina dragged Yumiko off to watch some drama," Su Yu replied as he took a seat—directly beside Yukino.
Yukino paused for a moment.
She glanced at his usual seat, then at him.
Meanwhile, Yui Yuigahama sat down on Yukino's other side.
"…What's wrong, Yukino?" Su Yu asked.
"That's not something you should call me," Yukino shot him a glare.
"But you already admitted I'm your friend. Why can't I call you Yukino-chan?" Su Yu said casually, opening his bento.
"…Even if we're friends, you're just an ordinary friend." Yukino stole a glance at Yui, as if expecting her to be upset.
Instead, Yui was all smiles.
"Well, we did hold hands. Are we really just ordinary friends?" Su Yu mused aloud, pretending to be confused.
"You—!"
Yukino's face flushed red.
She quickly turned toward Yui, as if trying to explain.
But Yui just smiled and spoke first.
"Yukinon, can I ask you for a favor?"
Yui blinked up at her, eyes twinkling.
"…What kind of favor?"
Yukino unconsciously clenched her hands slightly, afraid of what Yui might say.
"I just read Su Yu-kun's manga, and it made me want to take a summer trip—to a quiet countryside spot with fresh air. Do you know a place like that?"
"…I can ask my sister," Yukino answered after a short pause.
"Thank you, Yukinon! I'd love for us to go together—with Su Yu-kun, Hina, and Yumiko. Let's make it a summer to remember!" Yui beamed.
"You… why are you…"
Yukino looked at her, wanting to ask something but unable to put it into words.
"I want us to be even closer, Yukinon. I want to be your best friend, and I want to spend an unforgettable summer with Su Yu-kun. More than that… I want you to have happy memories too. And I want you and Su Yu-kun to be real friends."
Yui gently took Yukino's hand, speaking earnestly.
Yukino froze.
She finally understood Yui's intentions.
And she couldn't believe it.
Yui smiled at her, eyes full of expectation.
"Yuigahama, I…"
"Yukinon, you don't have to answer me now. Tell me after summer ends."
Hearing that, Yukino was even more certain of what Yui was doing.
She lowered her head, avoiding Yui's gaze.
Su Yu watched silently.
Yui turned to him, smiling as if to reassure him.
"Alright, let's eat. Yui, don't say weird things—you're going to confuse Yukino." Su Yu changed the subject.
"Sorry, Yukinon. But I meant every word." Yui chuckled and opened her bento.
Yukino glanced at them both.
Then, a memory surfaced in her mind—
"If Yukino is okay with it, the three of us could be together."
So… that wasn't a joke?
After Lunch
Su Yu took out the first chapter of Leisure Days and handed it to Yukino.
She hesitated, then glanced at Yui.
"I already read it. You're the second reader, Yukinon," Yui said cheerfully.
Yukino felt a pang of guilt.
Because she was actually the first.
Clearly, Su Yu hadn't told Yui that.
She turned to him, her gaze cold as she clenched her small fists—ready to hit him.
Su Yu noticed and shifted his foot forward slightly.
Yukino saw the motion and nearly stomped on it—but held back.
It wasn't that serious.
Besides, he'd probably just use it as another excuse to tease her.
She glared at him, both embarrassed and annoyed.
"Yukinon, just read the manga. And Su Yu-kun, stop teasing her," Yui mediated.
Yukino sighed, turning back to the file folder.
She carefully opened it and began reading.
The last time she saw this, it hadn't been this polished.
Su Yu's attention to detail—characters, landscapes, even animals—was incredible.
No wonder Yui wanted to visit the countryside.
After reading it, she returned it to Su Yu.
"You have Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Parasyte, and Leisure Days lined up. These three will take at least a year to animate."
"And by then, I'll probably have even more new stories."
"There's no need to rush. Focus on making these three good first," Yukino advised.
"The less important ideas can be handled by the first and second studios. But your favorite projects… those should be yours to direct." Su Yu gazed at her.
Yukino's eyes wavered for a second before she looked away.
"Speaking of new stories—"
Su Yu suddenly smirked.
"I just came up with one on the way here. Want to hear it?"
Yukino looked at him curiously.
Yui, meanwhile, blushed, already guessing where this was going.
"My story starts with a girl—a lot like Yui—who's forced to join a club by her teacher."
"She searches the school bulletin board and finds a club listing. The president of this club… is the school's ice queen—a beautiful, untouchable flower."
"…Go on."
Yukino narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Yui—ahem, the protagonist—pushes open the Service Club's door and sees the ice queen. In that moment, she realizes… she's breathtaking."
"Her heart skips a beat."
"Then begins their time in the club. The ice queen is cold and distant. The protagonist is kind and warm. Over time, they become friends."
"…And eventually, the ice queen falls for the protagonist."
Su Yu spoke slowly, watching Yukino's reaction.
Her expression shifted from confusion… to something unreadable.
Why… would two girls…
Why did the protagonist sound exactly like Yui?
And why was the other protagonist an 'ice queen'…?
This felt like something Su Yu had made up just to mess with her.
But she had no proof.
And oddly enough…
The story did sound kind of interesting.
(t/n: hell no!!!)
