Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Shizuka-sensei’s Request

Hikigaya Hachiman—The "Master Teacher"

Hikigaya Hachiman.

Also known as "Master Teacher" (大老师).

A protagonist who is hard to hate.

He lacked the typical kindness of a light novel protagonist—

And his hostility toward the "normies" was intense.

When Su Yu first watched the anime, he thought—

"This guy is a pretty unique protagonist."

And also—

"He and Totsuka Saika should totally be a couple."

He had even read fanfiction about their married life.

Of course—

It was a completely "wholesome" and proper story.

Thinking about this, Su Yu turned to look at him.

Hachiman felt his gaze and glanced up.

That dead-fish-eyed expression—

It was exactly as described.

"We're here."

Hiratsuka Shizuka's voice cut through their silent exchange.

Su Yu looked up—

They had arrived at the guidance counselor's office.

A place where teachers held personal discussions with students—

Or as some called it—

"The Life Consultation Room."

Hiratsuka-sensei, being a student advisor, had the authority to bring students here for guidance.

She opened the door and looked at the two of them.

Su Yu stepped inside first—

Hachiman, however, hesitated.

"Nothing good ever comes from being called here…"

Still—

Hiratsuka-sensei was the teacher, so he had no choice but to follow.

With all three inside—

Hiratsuka closed the door behind them.

Inside the Counseling Room

Su Yu sat comfortably on the sofa,

While Hachiman stood stiffly nearby.

He had a bad feeling about this.

"Hikigaya, do you know why I called you here?"

Hiratsuka-sensei asked.

"No idea."

Hachiman replied, keeping his head low.

"Su Yu, how about you?"

She turned to Su Yu.

"Is this about a request for the Service Club?"

Su Yu guessed.

Hiratsuka smiled and nodded.

"Since Yukinoshita is occupied, you'll temporarily take over as club president."

"And your first request—change Hikigaya Hachiman."

Su Yu turned to look at Hachiman.

Hachiman grimaced.

"I don't need to change."

"Hmm?"

Hiratsuka gave him a "gentle" look.

Hachiman immediately fell silent.

"Got it. I accept the request."

Su Yu replied with a smile.

"Good. If Hikigaya resists, just let me know. I'll make sure my iron fist teaches him properly."

Hiratsuka smiled sweetly.

"…"

Hachiman had no words.

On the Way Back to Class

Su Yu walked down the hallway, looking outside.

The rain had stopped—

Warm sunlight reflected off the wet pavement.

"Hikigaya, do you think I'm a 'normie' or an outsider like you?"

Su Yu suddenly asked.

Hachiman paused mid-step.

"This normie wants to 'fix' me, huh?"

"He's probably planning something humiliating…"

That's what Hachiman originally thought.

But—

Su Yu's first question had completely thrown him off.

"I'm not going to force you to make friends."

"Honestly, I don't have many either."

"The truth is—if you change your social relationships even slightly, life gets a bit easier."

Su Yu continued.

"I don't want to change my relationships."

Hachiman said after a moment.

"That's because you haven't met someone who makes your heart skip a beat."

Su Yu grinned.

"I won't lie to Hiratsuka-sensei—so instead, I'm going to find someone willing to help change you."

"I… I'm not good with girls."

Hachiman frowned.

"Did I say it was going to be a girl?"

Su Yu smirked.

"Huh?"

Hachiman looked confused.

Lunch Break

While eating lunch, Hachiman kept stealing glances at Su Yu.

Su Yu was chatting with Yuigahama but didn't sit with her—

Instead, he ate quickly and alone.

After finishing his meal, Su Yu walked over.

Hachiman sighed and got up from his seat.

"Guess I have no choice."

Su Yu smirked and led the way out of the classroom.

Hachiman followed behind.

They stopped at a vending machine near the first-floor hallway.

Su Yu bought two cans of drinks.

One was Hachiman's usual canned coffee—

The same brand he always drank in the anime.

Su Yu handed it over.

"Thanks."

Hachiman hesitated for a second but took it anyway.

"I spent the morning gathering information about you."

Su Yu casually mentioned, sipping his drink.

"I have a great memory—I know you drink this coffee regularly."

"I also heard you have a younger sister."

Hachiman looked shocked.

"How does he know all this…?"

"Now, give me your sister's contact info."

Su Yu took out his phone.

"Or, I could just visit your house and introduce myself as your friend."

"I'm sure your sister would be happy to meet me."

Su Yu grinned.

"What do you need Komachi's number for?"

Hachiman narrowed his eyes.

"To understand you better so I can help you."

"Not that I particularly want to know about another guy's life, but I take requests seriously."

Su Yu explained.

"Why…?"

Hachiman still didn't get it.

"I want my club president to focus on her work—without distractions."

Su Yu replied.

"Your club president is a girl?"

"Don't you know Yukinoshita Yukino?"

"Oh… It's her."

Hachiman muttered.

He hesitated for a moment—

Then finally entered Komachi's number into Su Yu's phone.

"Mind if I take a picture?"

Su Yu asked.

Hachiman nodded.

"I guess this is for Komachi?"

"Exactly."

Su Yu snapped a quick photo of Hachiman and sent it to Komachi.

Then, he turned and walked toward a new location.

Hachiman followed silently.

Ten Minutes Later—Tennis Courts

"Totsuka Saika, this is Hikigaya Hachiman."

"He's the one I mentioned—the guy who's pretty decent at tennis."

"I also want to learn."

Su Yu smiled, introducing Hachiman to a beautiful, angelic-looking boy.

"No problem! I'll teach you both!"

Totsuka Saika smiled radiantly.

Hachiman felt his heart skip a beat.

Su Yu glanced at him.

"Yup. This is the start of his love story."

At that moment—

Su Yu's phone vibrated.

A message from Komachi.

He opened it—

Sure enough—

She was curious about Su Yu's relationship with her brother.

Su Yu glanced at Hachiman and Saika—

Then started typing his reply.

(t/n: I don't know what to feel about this…but I guess it's okay….)
