Chapter 41: Chapter 41: I Really Am a Psychic
Night had fully fallen.
Su Yu ate the reheated curry from earlier.
His memory enhancement ability wasn't without cost—something he had only just realized today.
Of course, that wasn't a bad thing.
Overusing his brain meant that after a deep sleep, his mind would feel incredibly clear when he woke up.
The downside? The drowsiness was unavoidable.
If he fell asleep completely, he would be defenseless—like earlier, when Yumiko almost got away with it.
After finishing his meal, he washed the dishes and returned to his room.
That afternoon, he had learned a lot from the reference books—including how to draw manga.
Manga wasn't that difficult.
As long as he could draw characters and backgrounds, the rest could be handled by an assistant.
But Su Yu didn't plan on hiring one—so he had to learn everything himself.
All that was left now was buying materials.
He didn't have any of the necessary supplies at home, nor had he thought about it before.
So, he opened his laptop, found an online store, and placed an order.
Over 100,000 yen worth of art supplies and digital equipment.
Everything would be delivered tomorrow afternoon.
After finishing his purchase, Su Yu closed his laptop and went back to reading.
His reading speed was fast, and by the time he felt sleepy, it was already 11 PM.
"Looks like that's it for today."
He stood up, walked to his bed, and lay down.
As soon as he closed his eyes, sleep quickly overtook him.
Morning
Su Yu's eyes snapped open.
The first thing he did was check his phone.
7 AM.
Seeing the time, he let out a breath of relief.
The cost of overusing his ability was just a few extra hours of sleep—perfectly manageable.
Now, he just wondered if this ability could improve.
What if "Memory Enhancement" evolved into "Super Memory"?
Thinking about it, he changed clothes, freshened up, and started making breakfast.
After eating, he still had plenty of time, so he grabbed his bag and headed to school.
The sun was warm, and a gentle breeze blew past—a perfect day.
When he arrived at Soubu High, he happened to run into Yukino Yukinoshita.
She had just stepped out of her car and, upon spotting him, walked over.
"Good morning, Su Yu-kun."
"Good morning, Yukinoshita."
Su Yu greeted her while subtly admiring her beauty—as elegant as ever.
"How's your progress with the reference books?" Yukino asked as they walked toward the school.
"I've learned how to draw manga. The supplies will be delivered to my house this afternoon." Su Yu replied.
"If you overuse your memory, it might damage your brain." Yukino warned.
"What, do you think I have superpowers?" Su Yu glanced at her.
"Su Yu-kun, are you having a chuunibyou phase?" Yukino gave him a side glance.
"Actually, Yukinoshita, let me tell you a secret—I am a psychic." Su Yu said with a serious face.
Yukino rolled her eyes dramatically.
Classroom
After changing into his indoor shoes, Su Yu walked upstairs with Yukino before parting ways.
Entering the classroom through the back door, he immediately noticed:
Yumiko Miura was avoiding eye contact.Hina Ebina waved at him with a grin.Yui Yuigahama was approaching him… holding a bento.
Su Yu sat down as Yui placed the bento in front of him.
"Su Yu-kun, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, feeling great." Su Yu knew she was asking about his exhaustion yesterday.
Yui had no idea about what happened with Yumiko, and Hina wouldn't tell her either.
"That's good. Yukinon said you overused your brain—it sounded dangerous." Yui whispered.
"Yui, it's just like playing video games all night and then getting sleepy." Su Yu explained.
"Huh? That's all?" Yui blinked.
"Relax. I haven't married you yet, and we haven't had kids. There's no way I'd do something risky."
Su Yu lowered his voice and whispered in her ear.
Yui's entire face turned red.
Before she could recover, Su Yu took her hand and squeezed it gently.
Her blush deepened.
"I won't be able to eat lunch with you today. I need to finish these reference books. Can you deliver Yukinoshita's notes for me?" Su Yu asked softly.
"Mm." Yui nodded obediently.
Su Yu handed her the neatly stacked notes, and Yui carried them back to her seat.
These notes?
Su Yu had already read and summarized everything.
Lunch Break – Rooftop
With Yui's homemade bento and two reference books, Su Yu headed to the rooftop.
After finishing his meal, he didn't immediately start reading—
Instead, he sent Miyazumi Poem a message, asking how to submit a manga to a publisher.
Less than five minutes later—
Poem called him directly.
"If you want to submit your manga, you at least need a complete opening chapter."
"I know an editor at Mirai Comics. Once you finish drawing, I can take you to meet her."
"Thanks." Su Yu genuinely appreciated it.
"No need to thank me. Mirai Comics has high standards. Even if I introduce you, whether they accept your work or not depends on their judgment."
"Just having a chance is enough. I'll prove myself." Su Yu said confidently.
"Tch. Whatever. I'm going to eat. When you're done, come to Shining Animation." Poem hung up immediately.
Su Yu chuckled and began researching Mirai Comics.
It was one of Japan's top manga publishers, responsible for many famous works.
Poem knowing an editor there? That showed her real status in the industry.
Mirai Comics wasn't just known for shounen battle manga—they published all kinds of genres, including the slice-of-life theme Su Yu was working on.
But then—
Su Yu stumbled upon a year-old news article.
Reading it, his expression turned strange.
The headline?
"The Yukinoshita Family Invests in Mirai Comics, Acquiring a 40% Stake."
Su Yu exhaled in disbelief.
"The Yukinoshita family really knows how to invest."
He resisted the urge to call Yukino's sister, Haruno.
This wasn't something worth bothering her about.
When his manga started serialization, she'd hear about it eventually.
More likely, Yukino herself would tell her.
Shaking off unnecessary thoughts, Su Yu focused on reading.
