Mushoku Tensei: A Journey

Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Saladin Dola

Swoosh!

I was woken up by a feeling of earth that surrounded me, melting my worries away.

Opening my eyes, I could see someone touching my forehead while saying something in the same language I couldn't understand earlier.

I couldn't see them very well though, as an orange light was covering the entire area. Whoever the person was said something that sounded like an ancient spell, making me feel a slight headache that didn't last for long.

Suddenly, his words started making sense to me, as if I remembered a language that I hadn't used for decades.

They were still blurry, but the final sentences he spoke were very clear to me. "Your name shall be Saladin Dola."

Hearing that sent chills down my spine, wasn't Saladin the name given to one of Rudy's children by Perugius? That means… the light died down, and my suspicions were confirmed.

This man in front of me matched the description of Perugius in the novel completely: gleaming silver hair, very distinct eyes with golden pupils and an aura of nobility radiating from his entire body.

He was trying to act happy, but I could see the hatred in his eyes.

Now that I think about it, those eyes are the last thing I saw before passing out.

Shit, I need to escape.

I tried to use my wings again, only to realize that I was covered with some type of robe that prevented me from moving.

"Don't worry child, no one will hurt you." Seeing my attempt, Perugius assured me that I was safe, which I didn't believe at all.

He handed me to a soldier, who didn't bother to hide his hatred for me.

This guy was tall with scars all over his body, and if not for them, he would be extremely attractive. Now that I think about it, he's massive, he must be an aura user. Or is it just me being small? What do I know?

Wait, if I remember right, when Rudy's son was baptized, the light was yellow, why is it orange for me?

All I got since getting here was bad news, it seems my bad luck followed me here.

'Well at least I am alive, right?' I thought to myself, trying to be optimistic.

Perugius left at that moment, entering a tunnel that seemed endless from my perspective.I tried following him with my eyes but he was too fast for me.

Instead, I saw my reflection in the water. I had emerald green hair on my head with a gentle looking right eye. The same couldn't be said about my left eye though, my pupil there looked like an oval shaped red gemstone.

It was the eye that granted me the ability to see the people who tried to kill me when I was still in the womb and what pushed me into using that spell.

Now it worked like any other eye, the only difference was the shape.

Is this a demon eye? I never saw one like this in the story.

Wait, this does resemble the third eye of the Superd demon tribe, but they have it on their forehead.

"I can't believe that lord Perugius granted a demon like you a name, if it wasn't for his orders, I would crush you right now."

Ah, that's scary, to think that someone has the heart to kill a baby.

Wait a minute, he said I am a demon?

Oh.

OHHH.

Well, I am fucked.

A new start I said, another chance I said. All of that for me to end up as half Superd.

Splendid.

Perugius POV

An orange color huh?

Normally, it should be a white color, but the child is so close to being a second Laplace that he is seen as 'orange' by the water.

This also means that Laplace is going to be reborn one day.

I am not sure when yet, but it will happen for sure.

I can't let their deaths go to waste, I will have to start preparing.

Still, even with Laplace's spell, someone like that child shouldn't be born so soon. Something is happening for sure, it can't be the mother's doing, I already inspected her corpse.

This only leaves me with the father.

Blood dripped from my mouth at that moment.

Ahh, it seems my injuries are still quite severe.

I wish I was like you Kalman, you healed so fast that it almost seemed like you weren't the closest one to death.

I guess that's something you aura users have that I don't.

"Kalman… that reminds me," I said to the empty hall, wiping the blood off my face.

"Make sure that the news doesn't reach him, he's a human, unlike me, he doesn't have a lot of lifespan left, let him live his life peacefully, is that clear, Almanfi?"

From the little light around my familiar, Almanfi of the bright light showed up.

"As you command my liege." As soon as he said that, he was gone. Having spirits sure is helpful.

I wonder what Kalman is doing with that demon wife of his.

{In The Demon Continent}

A man in a brown robe was walking in the hard terrain.

Beneath the robe, he could be seen to be an old man nearing the end of his lifespan.

His eyes were tired, while wrinkles covered his once youthful face, with a deep scar on his forehead where one of his eyes used to reside.

'I failed… what should I do… Lord Laplace won't be back anytime soon now.'

This guy belongs to the Superd tribe and is one of Laplace's most trusted men.

That's because this guy did everything to prove his loyalty to Laplace, when he learned that his race's third eye could find his weakness, he immediately peeled it off his forehead.

He didn't stop here, in fact, he was the one who came up with the idea to pass the Laplace curse to the rest of his people, which later caused them to lose their minds.

'What should I do? Now because of me.." the demon felt deep sadness at his failure.

Before the final battle, Laplace told the man of his plans to revive if he lost the fight, giving him some of his life force to use on his son who Laplace was sure would be born with his factor seven years from now.

And that's exactly what the man did, he however failed, causing him most of his life span.

'Now the child will just be a stillborn.. after everything-"

Suddenly, something took over his attention.

It was another man, who was dressed like a swordsman.

He had long brown hair that was tied behind his back, with golden eyes that seemed to be sharper than most swords in this world.

There were also grey scales below his eyes, a fact that will be lost in the future.

This is Kalman, the North God!

Realizing that the old man turned his back, ready to take a run for his life, only for him to find the North God directly in front of him.

"Sup." The North God spoke, as if the immense killing intent he had realeased was just an illusion.

The old man recited a spell as fast as he could, summoning a whirlpool that sent him far away from the North God.

Still in the air, he recited another incantation, to fly away.

Kalman however didn't give that opportunity, jumping over to him and punching his spine with enough force to immobilize him completely, sending him crashing down to the ground where he broke the rest of his bones.

"Agh.. plugh ahhh." The old man's scream was stopped by his blood escaping from his body, splashing everywhere around him.

The North God appeared in front of him out of nowhere like before, grabbing his hair and holding him in the air.

"Hmm, it seems I was right," said the North God. "I knew I would find you one day here, race traitor," Kalman said his words with hatred despite him still smiling.

"I am not… who you're looking for…" the old man tried to deceive him.

That was met with a warm smile from the North God who pierced his stomach before throwing him on the ground.

"I am not done with you yet, race traitor," he said, taking out a magic scroll. "Let's remove those limbs first shall we." Saying that Kalman immediately cut off all of the old man's limbs, using the scroll to heal him.

The scroll had an Advanced Healing effect, healing the man completely, just without his limbs.

"See now we can talk," said Kalman, stepping on the old man, "And just so you know, I have the demonic eyes of Truth."

The Eyes of Truth are one of the many eyes possessed by the Demon Empress, capable of knowing if someone is telling the truth.

And when someone lies while the eye is used on them, they will suffer pain like never before in their life. Of course, if the subject believes something to be true when it's false, the eyes won't notice.

"Tell me now traitor, where is the life force that Laplace gave you?"

The old man, faced with this predicament, didn't know what to do.

He's already tired from trying to revive Laplace with the life force he left for him; if he lies, he's sure to die.

'If I am going to die, I will at least take him with me.'

Without saying a single word, the old man exploded, destroying the land around him.
