Munitions Empire

Chapter 1361: 1278 Silent Battle

The night serves as the best cover, and the special forces of the Tang Army infiltrate the city, penetrating swiftly. They take out the checkpoints and then easily reach the position of the Qin Army's command center.

There's no other way—firstly, the Dahua region has way too many spies for the Tang Army, who can provide ample and accurate intelligence to the battle forces of the Great Tang Empire.

On the other hand, the electronic traces of the Qin Army are too significant. A random scan can locate the places with the most electronic signals. The reason for not attacking immediately with anti-radiation missiles like at the beginning is due to two reasons.

The first reason is that the Qin Army is somewhat on alert. They try to keep the telecommunications room and radar a bit further from the command center to ensure they won't be wiped out by a single missile.

The second reason is that the Tang Army hopes to find an opportunity to capture a senior commander of the Qin Army. This way, they can deal a significant blow to the Qin Army through a propaganda offensive, making the commanders of the Qin Army anxious and unable to concentrate fully on commanding operations.

The distant Qin Army command center is still unaware that a sentry post next to them has been silently eliminated.

In the pitch-black night, the sound from rifles fitted with large silencers, though not entirely dissipated, barely resembles the sound of a weapon.

Coupled with the roar of anti-aircraft guns from afar and the continuous explosions of missiles and bombs, such peculiar sounds did not even disturb the nearby civilians who had not fled.

The night in Dongqing has been bustling for a while, and nobody takes strange noises seriously, making the actions of the Tang Army's special forces extremely smooth.

Running along the dark street, wearing pitch-black combat uniforms, the Tang Army advances rapidly. As they reached the edge of the lamplight in the distance, all the streetlights suddenly went out.

"Power supply is cut! Task completed by fifth group!" A voice reported from other teams in the earphones: "Estimated power restoration time for the enemy, five minutes!"

"Action!" The officer paused at the edge of the light and issued an order through the microphone, and the soldiers carrying weapons passed by his position one by one.

Each soldier held an assault rifle with a long, thick silencer installed at the front; their steps were so light that they made hardly any sound.

In the darkness, one of their eyes could see a different scene through a monocular device, with red human-shaped silhouettes appearing in the darkness from afar.

"Sniper in position! Ready! Clearing obstructions ahead!" The voice of the second action group came through the earphones.

Following that, a series of crisp yet indistinct sounds echoed from behind the advancing action group in black.

"Bang! Bang!" With consecutively silenced gunfire, in the advancing action group's vision, those red human-shaped silhouettes standing or sitting fell one after another.

Due to the close range, most of these people were killed with one shot. The bullets pierced through their heads, causing them to make almost no sound beyond falling down.

The lead soldier of the first action group tasked with entry bypassed two sentries of the Qin Army, and then, alongside a comrade, stealthily approached the two soldiers from the side.

Their hands stretched out from the darkness, immediately covering the mouths of the two Qin Army soldiers. Sharp blades cut the two men's throats, and before the blood could spray, the soldiers had fallen to the ground.

And as they fell, the gate they were just guarding vigilantly was already pushed open, with one Tang Army soldier after another filing in, each beginning to secure the left and right flanks.

Before the operation, everyone had memorized the entire interior structure of the building, knowing the number of rooms, staircases, and doors, clearly within the action group's knowledge.

This solid and comfortable building was constructed by a Tang country engineering team, and most similar useful structures were built by Tang country construction teams. This is the influence of Tang country here, a reality that Qin Army commanders cannot circumvent.

Whenever they choose an appropriate command center, it would certainly be such a place. After all, the construction workers of Dahua City are far behind compared to those of the Great Tang Empire's construction teams.

"When will the power be back on?" In a room, a female secretary of the Qin Army lit a candle, complaining to her colleague across from her.

However, her colleague could no longer make any sound. From two directions in the darkness, two hands wearing fingerless gloves appeared suddenly, covering the female secretary's face and back of the head, then forcefully twisted in opposite directions.

"Crack!" A barely audible snapping sound resounded somewhat sharply in the dark, as a pair of hands gently placed the corpse's head on the documents on the candle-lit table.

"Phew!" A face painted with black camouflage leaned towards the candle, gently exhaling to extinguish the only light in the darkness.

"Creak...creak..." The stairs creaked as an officer holding a candle walked down. He was already accustomed to frequent blackouts; power supply during wartime isn't particularly stable.

A flash of cold light appeared in the darkness, and a bullet hit squarely in the forehead illuminated by the candle.

"Buzz..." The command center's backup power system restored power, naturally having backup generators for such a large command center.

There are many communication devices here requiring power, and due to the recent frequent power outages, the generator's restoration of power was quicker than estimated.

As the action group was moving upstairs, suddenly the whole room lit up, but the entire hall was already left with corpses sprawled all over.

The Qin Country officer who had just been shot in the forehead was caught before falling and now hung from the stair railing. The candle below his feet had been extinguished, with a deep mark of a special forces boot tread left on it.

A Qin Country officer whose eyes had just adjusted to the light squinted at the black-clad figures before him, still not understanding what was happening.

"Bang!" A pistol fitted with a silencer fired a crisp sound, and the confused Qin Country officer collapsed at the sound. When this officer's body hit the floor with a thud, another Qin Country officer behind him finally shouted out: "You..."
