Mumen Rider in MHA

Chapter 34: Chapter 34 : Their Future Plans

Homeroom was loud, humid, and restless.

The final-year students at Naruhata High slouched in their chairs, trading gossip and dreams over half-crumpled worksheets. The classroom walls were plastered with career pamphlets, pro hero posters, and faded college recruitment flyers.

Satoru sat near the back. Same desk, same bandaged hands resting on a half-filled form.

His teacher cleared his throat and tapped the board.

"Alright, everyone. We're filling out your provisional career goals today. Even if you haven't decided, write something. I'll call on you one by one."

Groans.

The teacher started going down the rows.

"Engineering."

"Police."

"Support tech."

"Hero course, if I pass the recommendation exam."

When he reached Satoru, there was a beat of silence.

The teacher smiled, gentle but awkward. "Kojima Satoru. Have you decided?"

Satoru stood slowly.

"I want to be a hero."

The room went quiet.

Then came the snickers.

Someone muttered, "With what quirk?"

"Maybe he'll save us with duct tape."

The teacher raised a hand. "Alright, enough. That's a noble path, Kojima."

Satoru sat down again, staring straight ahead.

He didn't flinch.

That afternoon, a floor below, Miyako sat alone in her own classroom. Junior year students were still scribbling down their goals for the year.

She tapped her pencil on her desk absentmindedly, eyes drifting toward the classroom door.

The boy from the rooftop had said something similar—not that he wanted to be a hero, but the way he stood up, the way he spoke. Like someone trying to become something.

She flipped open her notebook and quietly doodled in the margin: a figure in a patched-up jacket, helmet slightly askew, standing between shadows and light.

No labels. Just a feeling.
