Chapter 78: [78] The Clairvoyance That Sees Through the Past

Returning to the room in Jerusalem where he had once lived with Roman, Roy opened the drawer of the desk where Roman had often worked on his computer. Sure enough, he found the records Roman had left for him.

A piece of parchment was inscribed with intricate and precise diagrams, and in the margins, Roman had also annotated explanations for the symbols and various texts on the parchment. This was the second gift Roman had left for him.

"When did he write this?"

Roy pondered. During the first six days, he had been supervising Roman as he worked diligently on his magical foundation during the day, so Roman couldn't possibly have completed the contents of this parchment in daylight.

"That means he must have done it at night while I was asleep."

At this thought, Roy sighed softly. He had assumed Roman spent his nights watching livestreams, eating cake, drinking cola, and living a slacker's life. Yet, unbeknownst to him, Roman had been working overtime even at night, laboring in secret where his "boss" couldn't see.

"This guy really is an unusually good employee. If there were awards to give, I'd definitely grant him the Most Dedicated Employee prize."

Roy chuckled to himself before quickly flipping through the recorded magic contents.

King Solomon possessed the ability of Clairvoyance, as Roy had heard from Roman. As the greatest king of Israel and one who had received wisdom from God, he was born with Eyes that See Through the Past and the Future.

The ability to see the future aside—this foresight was essentially an optimal deduction based on synthesizing all past and present information. For an ordinary person, whose life remained within predictable bounds, such future predictions could be nearly 100% accurate.

But if the subject was an extraordinarily powerful existence beyond conventional limits, none of the known information could be applied to them. In such cases, the predicted future held great uncertainty. Thus, Roy had little interest in Eyes that See the Future, as foresight wasn't truly a formidable ability—it came with too many limitations.

The true power lay in Eyes that See the Past. The past was already concluded, a fixed record of information. Whoever possessed such eyes would receive absolutely accurate knowledge. To see through the past was to behold the vast currents of history, leaving no secrets hidden before them.

The present was fleeting, the future distant and uncertain—only the past was the absolute truth, containing the greatest wealth of information.

King Solomon possessed Clairvoyance that pierced both past and future—his innate gift. But as the King of Magecraft, he also held divine wisdom. Combined with the existence of the Netherworld in the Campione world—a realm that recorded all past information—these factors enabled Solomon to create this magic: Pseudo-Clairvoyance.

By engraving these magical runes into his eyes, Roy could utilize the Netherworld to uncover all aspects of the past. For him now, this was a magecraft formula that could grant him even greater power than the Human Order Correction Formula.

The "Human Order Correction Formula" granted Roy a vast future, while the magic "Clairvoyance" allowed him to grasp the present.

The only drawback of this magic is that, being specially crafted to connect to the Netherworld, it can currently only function within the world of Campione. If Roy were to travel to another world and wished to use this to see through the past, he would need to reconstruct the magic's framework to adapt to that world's records. This would require Roy to possess an exceptionally rich and solid foundation in magic, as he inherently lacked the Clairvoyance ability.

"Aiwass, regarding your modified Pandora's Circle of Usurpation, let's set that aside for now. I need to complete this magical formula first."

After thoroughly memorizing and comprehending the contents of the parchment scroll, Roy burned it to ashes.

This magical formula was powerful, but also dangerous. If it fell into others' hands, it could bring trouble to Roy. Thus, destroying it was the best course of action.

After some consideration, Roy summoned Erica and Liliana, informing them that he needed time to perform a magical ritual. He instructed them not to disturb him and to guard the entrance, ensuring no one else would interrupt him either.

After giving his orders, Roy quickly set up some warning spells. These spells weren't particularly strong in terms of protection, but served more as a "do not disturb" sign to others.

Once everything was prepared, Roy issued commands as a King, instructing the Seven Sisters Alliance in Italy to deliver various materials and tools for magical rituals. In less than a day, Roy had completed all the necessary arrangements.

...

Standing before a makeshift experiment table, Roy meticulously manipulated the Type-Moon magecraft he had learned from Solomon, carving runes and incantations into the eyeball on the table with surgical precision.

This eyeball was none other than Roy's left eye. Currently, there was an empty, bloody socket where his left eye should be, and Roy was carefully controlling his magical energy to prevent the powerful curse power of a Campione from regenerating the eye.

Injuries like losing a limb or an organ were something a Campione could naturally recover from.

Roy had never imagined that one day he would be capable of the brutality required to pluck out his own eye—such a horrifying act was something his past self would never have dared to contemplate.

It had to be said that after learning so much about magecraft, he could now hold himself to the standards of a magus.

The magecraft of the Campione world leaned more toward offensive applications, making it unsuitable for such delicate experiments. In contrast, the magecraft of the Type-Moon world was largely research-oriented, making it perfect for the creation of a Mystic Eye.

"Done!"

Even Roy had to admire himself when his rock-steady hands completed the nanometer-level operation. The level of control a Campione had over their body was truly terrifying.

He placed the now-engraved eyeball into a nearby liquid, letting it soak for a while before retrieving it. Then, through surgical means, he reinserted it into the eye socket and reconnected the optic nerves. The Mystic Eye immediately linked with his brain, and from there, a certain organ in his brain connected to his soul, allowing Roy to fully master this Mystic Eye.

In the Type-Moon world, this would undoubtedly be considered a top-tier 'Rainbow'-rank Mystic Eye. Empowered by Roy's Authority, it possessed the formidable Eye of Sodom, comparable in strength to Medusa's Eyes of Petrificaton, along with the clairvoyant ability to see into the past. Its versatility was beyond imagination.

As the Mystic Eye was successfully implanted, Roy experienced for the first time the wonder of Clairvoyance piercing through the past.

"Plutarch's Hall?! So there's actually such a place in the Netherworld—a mysterious annex that records all past information like the Akashic Records. This is where witches gaze during their spiritual visions!"

"...I see, I see. So this is the truth of the world—the origins of Heretic Gods and Campiones, the identity and abilities of the Last King, his hiding place, the root of the fate shared by Campiones and Heretic Gods, and the true mastermind behind it all!"

In that moment, Roy had an epiphany. It was as if he had read the world's script—no secrets remained hidden from him in this realm. Everything was laid bare under the sun.

Roy had only watched the anime adaptation of Campione in the past and hadn't read the original novel. Following Aiwass's advice, he had resisted the urge to delve into the source material, as doing so could create significant butterfly effects.

But now, he had obtained all the information through the method of Clairvoyance, a magical means that completely avoided the butterfly effect, allowing him to make all necessary preparations.
