Chapter 66: [66] When in Doubt, Quantum Mechanics
The Holy Guardian Angel floating behind Roy—her golden hair shimmering with faint radiance, bare feet suspended midair—turned her gaze toward his raised right hand.
In that instant, the entity called Aiwass flickered like unstable reception, her form dissolving into snowflake-like static before gradually stabilizing again.
Seeing Aiwass nearly dissipate, Roy froze. "...Are you alright, Aiwass?" he asked anxiously.
For Roy now, Aiwass was a very important person, and he certainly didn't want anything to happen to her.
"It's nothing, just that my spirit is experiencing a slight delay in thought."
Aiwass's gaze fell on Roy's right hand. She revealed an extremely human-like smile, and her tone was no longer as mysteriously distant as before. Instead, it became somewhat irritable, even to the point where her words could be described as 'colorful language.' "...Those imbecilic Magic Gods, spending their entire lives pursuing and yearning for something that I've obtained so effortlessly. If they were to find out, what expressions would they make? I can't wait to see the looks on their faces."
Roy had grown accustomed to Aiwass's occasional strange tones. This Holy Guardian Angel was not an emotionless object—or rather, she might have been in the past, but through contact with humans, she had become much more akin to them.
Of course, it was only akin. Aiwass could never truly be human.
"Hmm, I can feel it. That mysterious space we traversed to come to this world—it's now residing in my right hand. This hand has become the vessel for that space. Aiwass, what do you think would happen if I were to cut off this hand? Would something terrifying emerge from it?"
Roy's question sounded more like a joke than a serious inquiry. He wasn't insane enough to chop off his own hand for fun. What if he accidentally lost his authorities?
Aiwass could only remain silent. Even she couldn't comprehend or explain the mysterious space now residing in Roy's right hand.
"If you wish to return to the world where Aleister is, you must be cautious of the Magic Gods. Should they discover what your right hand harbors, they will pursue you with madness, sparing no effort to obtain what lies within."
Aiwass's tone carried a warning.
"This is the second time you've reminded me, Aiwass... Speaking of the Magic Gods, I recall Aleister mentioning them in his writings. He described them as those who have reached the pinnacle of magic. While I can imagine the kind of power such beings might wield, I still find it hard to fully grasp."
The world of Toaru was one Roy had to return to—after all, Laura and Aleister were still there. But if returning meant becoming a tempting prize in the eyes of the Magic Gods, then Roy would have to treat them as potential adversaries and devise countermeasures in advance.
"Only a Magic God can understand another Magic God. When you one day reach that realm, you will inevitably comprehend. It is knowledge both essential and unnecessary... But you needn't worry too much. Even Magic Gods have their limits."
"Oh? How so?"
Roy raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"Are you familiar with the Island Theory?"
"I know a bit about it. It's one of the theories explaining why humans haven't discovered extraterrestrial life. The gist is that the universe is infinitely vast, but human exploration and understanding have limits. There are insurmountable distances between civilizations, so what humans perceive as the universe is merely the universe they can observe."
Roy pondered for a moment before summarizing succinctly.
"This theory can also explain the relationship between different worlds. If we imagine all universes and worlds as an endless ocean, then each world is an isolated island in this vast sea. The limitation of the Magic Gods lies in their inability to cross the ocean or explore other islands. The mysterious space within your right hand is the 'ship' capable of traversing this ocean, naturally attracting the covetousness of the Magic Gods—for their dream and desire is to leave their own island and behold something vaster."
"...And the existence capable of building this 'ship' must be an ultimate being far surpassing the Magic Gods. You have already obtained this 'ship' that can journey afar. Whether it's reverse-engineering its structure to gain power or using it to explore different islands and acquire more knowledge and treasures—compared to the Magic Gods trapped on their isolated islands, you are the freer one. This is where you surpass their limits."
Aiwass did her best to use simple, understandable language to bolster Roy's confidence, for she too was now a passenger aboard this ship. If Roy, the captain, were to falter, she, the passenger, would no longer be able to sail freely across this ocean of worlds.
"All this talk just boils down to me using the power housed in my right hand to traverse different worlds and gain the strength to oppose the Magic Gods, huh."
Roy laughed lazily and stretched his arms.
He lowered his head to look at the writings and incantations he had penned on the desk, sighing in frustration. "...All this knowledge was obtained from Erica through bodily fluid exchange. Her knowledge isn't vast, so I could easily master it, but it's still not enough for me to complete this ritual."
As he spoke, he turned his gaze back to Aiwass. If he could obtain the knowledge of this Holy Guardian Angel, his own understanding would undoubtedly expand exponentially—far faster than through word-of-mouth teachings.
Aiwass sensed Roy's thoughts and merely chuckled. "...I suggest you abandon the idea of using a witch's sex magic to extract knowledge from me. Even a tiny fraction of my knowledge would overwhelm your current mind... Besides, I'm currently just a spirit without a physical body, so such magic is impossible."
After a brief pause, Aiwass continued, "...Another part of my consciousness resides with Aleister. He is currently executing a plan. If it succeeds, I will gain a physical form. By then, if you can bear my knowledge, I can impart the necessary wisdom to you."
Aiwass harbored little resistance to the idea of sharing knowledge through intimate physical contact with Roy. Her only concern was whether his mind could withstand her toxic, overwhelming knowledge.
"Another part of your consciousness is with Aleister? You can still sense events happening in another world from here?"
Roy asked curiously. Compared to the idea of sleeping with the Holy Guardian Angel after her incarnation, he was more interested in the connection that isolated this world.
"Split a particle in two, place them at opposite ends of the universe, and they will still resonate... You can think of my consciousness in that way. If you wish, I can provide you with all of Aleister's actions and thoughts—becoming your... well, let's use the term spy."
Aiwass didn't hesitate to betray Aleister. To her, as an observer, Aleister was merely an amusing subject, but Roy was an indispensable existence she sought. The difference in their importance was clear.

"I'm growing more and more fascinated by your existence, Aiwass! As the Secret Chief, what exactly is your form?"
Roy studied Aiwass' faintly glowing figure with keen interest—not with the gaze of a man toward a woman, but with the contemplation of the unknown.
"The Kabbalistic Four Worlds Theory divides existence into the World of Emanation, World of Creation, World of Formation, and World of Action. I am the angel of the World of Action, governing all that is closely tied to humanity."
Aiwass' voice grew ethereal again, laced with static, suggesting that some of her explanations were still being automatically filtered by Roy's mind.
"So you're actually a Physics Angel? But the knowledge and abilities you've imparted all seem like magic to me."
Roy was taken aback. In his mind, a Physics Angel should be made of metal, like a Transformer, wielding positron cannons or casually summoning sophons, dimensional foils, or faster-than-light engines.
Perhaps sensing his thoughts, Aiwass let out a soft laugh—her divine purity tinged with a demonic allure. "...What you imagine is macro-level physics. Haven't humans already begun exploring the micro-level? In quantum physics, some phenomena defy scientific understanding—they might as well be magic."
Hearing this, Roy shrugged. "...That's just when in doubt, blame quantum mechanics. But you're right—quantum phenomena are practically fantasy. Even paradoxes, contradictions in human logic, are permissible in the micro-realm."
He exhaled, glanced at the electronic screen on the wall, and waved a hand dismissively. "...Never mind, this is all too far off. I'd better take things step by step. We've arrived in Jerusalem. After resting for a few days to restore all my authorities, I'll proceed directly with the Heretic God summoning ritual."
