Multiverse's Holy Right

Chapter 23: [23] The Sin of Sodom

Roy was not the type to "bully the weak," nor was he someone who grew arrogant and reckless upon gaining power.

At his core, he was a rather gentle man, thoughtful and decisive.

He was no great figure—otherwise, before his transmigration, he wouldn't have merely scraped by as a photographer.

Yet Roy possessed one extraordinary talent: his behavioral principle. He would perfectly embody the conduct befitting his current status and identity.

When he was an ordinary man, this trait made him even more ordinary. But as he gradually ascended to greatness, it made him even greater.

Had he become a knight, he would have strictly adhered to the knightly code.

Had he been a magician, he would have pursued truth and the Root as his guiding principles.

Had he been the Messiah, he would have given everything to save the world.

Roy was a man both simple and not so simple.

Unfortunately, he was now neither a knight nor a magician—he was a God-Slaying Demon King, and so he would act as one!

His eerie, dual-pupiled eyes locked onto Diana Milito, the leader of the Bronze Black Cross. Under the horrified gazes of the assembly, the youthful-looking woman began to turn into a pillar of salt, starting from her feet.

"The Marquis's Authority?!"

"The Eyes of Sodom!!"

"Diana, don't move!"

"..."

The hall erupted into chaos. The magicians panicked, and several leaders of magical associations leapt to their feet, shouting frantically at Diana to stay still.

Though the Seven Sisters of Italy might be organizational rivals, their leaders shared a close personal rapport. It was their alliance that maintained stability within Italy's magical society.

Otherwise, given the peculiar coexistence of the Holy Church within Italy, the region would have long descended into turmoil.

Diana Milito's expression was grim. She had followed the others' instructions and sat motionless in the chair, her face deathly pale as she watched her feet turn into salt. The salt pillars slowly crept upward, transforming her calves and thighs into the same crystalline substance.

At this point, even the slightest touch to her already-salted limbs would cause this powerful magician to lose a part of her body.

As the leader of the 'Bronze Black Cross,' Diana was no weakling—she ranked among the top figures in Italy's magical community. Yet even such a wise and formidable mage could lose her life at any moment under the gaze of a Campione.

"Is this the Marquis Voban's authority? No, no... I don't know which god the Marquis slew to obtain such mystic eyes, but I do know his version is nothing more than a castrated imitation. What I possess is the original form of this authority—a recreation of the biblical myth of Sodom's destruction. This is one of my Seven Authorities!"

'Sin of Sodom'—this was the second authority Roy had obtained.

According to the Book of Genesis in the Bible, Sodom was one of the five cities in the plain of Moab. Its wickedness—marked by rampant homosexuality—reached the ears of Yahweh, who sent two angels to destroy the city. Because Lot, a righteous man, and his wife and daughters were innocent, the angels rescued them.

Yahweh rained down fire and brimstone to burn the sinful city to ashes. The angels warned Lot and his family to flee without looking back at Sodom. But Lot's wife disobeyed, turning into a pillar of salt when she glanced back at the doomed city.

In the Book of Zerubbabel, Michael once declared: "I am the one who brought sulfur and fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah."

It was this myth that granted Roy this authority. 'Sin of Sodom' could only be activated once every three days, but once unleashed, heavenly fire would descend and brimstone surge from hell, annihilating an entire city in an instant. Among Roy's Seven Authorities, this was his large-scale AOE attack.

Other Campiones like the Marquis Voban wielded authorities capable of large-scale natural disasters, but none could match the sheer destructive power of Roy's three-day cooldown ability. Most of Roy's authorities were of the 'instant kill' variety—though each came with restrictions, their might was extraordinary.

The 'Eyes of Sodom' functioned more like an additional effect of this authority, recreating the divine punishment for ignoring the angels' warning. It was a mystic eye on par with Medusa's petrifying gaze, capable of turning any living being into salt—a perfect execution tool against ordinary mages and knights. A single glance from Roy meant certain death, truly killing with a look.

"Seven Authorities?!"

"How is that possible? How could slaying one god grant seven authorities? This has never happened before."

"..."

Roy's words stirred another wave of commotion, and Liliana was utterly stunned.

She was a member of the "Bronze Black Cross," and Diana Milito, the supreme leader, was also her magic instructor. Seeing her teacher nearly turned into a pillar of salt under Roy's gaze, with the salt already encroaching up to Diana's abdomen, Liliana panicked and immediately began chanting a spell to lift the curse.

"Teacher!"

Watching helplessly as her magic had no effect on the petrification, Liliana grew frantic.

"Don't waste your energy, Liliana... This is divine authority, not something ordinary magic can dispel."

Despite facing death, Diana, as the supreme leader of the "Bronze Black Cross," managed to maintain her composure. Seeing Liliana still attempting to undo the curse, she stopped her.

"How could this be?!"

Witnessing three-quarters of her beloved teacher's body already transformed into salt, Liliana's clear, upright eyes gradually welled up with tears, her eyelids turning red.

Had Diana not been an exceptionally powerful magician with strong resistance to magic, she would have long been completely petrified by the divine curse.

Seeing her teacher's pale face and the despair in her eyes as she struggled against the curse, Liliana's rationality snapped. Unconsciously, she drew her beloved sword, "Il Maestro," and pointed its tip toward Roy.

At that moment, a fiery red figure flashed in Liliana's peripheral vision. Erica instantly dashed to her side, gripping her slender wrist that held the sword.

Then, with a flash of steel in Erica's left hand, "Cuore di Leone" appeared in her palm. Taking advantage of Liliana's lowered reaction speed due to her loss of reason, Erica swiftly knocked the sword from her grasp.

Simultaneously, Erica yanked Liliana's wrist downward, causing her to stumble. A knee strike to the abdomen forced Liliana to kneel on one knee, the pain bringing her back to her senses.

"Liliana Kranjcar, if you dare raise your sword against the 'King' again, I will personally behead you!"

Erica shouted sternly before quickly turning, planting her sword into the ground, and kneeling on one knee. Bowing her head to Roy, she pleaded, "...O 'King,' I am Erica Blandelli, the Great Knight of the 'Copper Black Cross.' We deserve death for daring to offend your majesty. I humbly beg for your forgiveness, that we may retain our lives to atone for our transgressions!"

After speaking, Erica urgently signaled Liliana with her eyes.

Liliana hesitated for a moment before understanding. She gave Erica a grateful look and hurriedly knelt as well. Unlike Erica, however, she was not as eloquent, her face flushed with embarrassment, her eyes brimming with desperate tears.
