Multiverse's Holy Right

Chapter 16: [16] Holy Right

Roy opened his eyes once more.

He realized that lately, his days had been spent in a cycle of closing and opening his eyes, as if he had been shuttling back and forth in an impossibly short span of time.

He was still in the same desert where he had slain Michael. The scorching sun blazed overhead, but its harsh light no longer harmed his pupils. The burning sand beneath him was searing hot, yet its temperature could no longer scald his body.

Roy knew he had completed his transformation—truly achieving a meteoric rise from a third-rate magician to a Campione, a Godslayer capable of challenging deities.

Pushing himself up from the desert sands, Roy glanced at his tattered clothes. Had it not been for the protective layer he had conjured using the original Book of the Law, even as a newly minted Campione, he would have faced the embarrassing predicament of standing bare-assed in the desert.

Lowering his head, Roy carefully retraced his memories and was startled to realize that every detail of his encounter with Pandora in the "Boundary of Life and Immortality" remained vivid, without a single moment forgotten.

He licked his lips, still feeling the lingering warmth, his mouth sweet as if infused with the intoxicating fragrance of lilies of the valley. Even Pandora's shocked expression and the bold intrusion of his tongue into her mouth, exploring the softness within, were etched vividly in his mind.

"Aleister has profound research on 'Phases.' The 'Boundary of Life and Immortality' you just experienced is one such Phase. Having fully comprehended Aleister's magnum opus, Book of 777, you are capable of resisting the negative effects of different Phases."

Just then, as if sensing Roy's confusion, the Holy Guardian Angel Aiwass spoke up from behind him, her voice carrying that distinctive, static-like distortion as she provided answers.

Book of 777 was the crystallization of Aleister's "Beast" ideology. The book contained no detailed records of magical rituals—only Aleister's "philosophical thoughts."

Thus, even after fully grasping the Book of 777, Roy had not directly grown stronger nor mastered any formidable spells. Yet, it had allowed him to manifest his physical form when facing Aleister's "Imaginary Phase."

However, the book had given Roy an opportunity—a chance to create his own powerful spells based on the philosophical concepts within the Book of 777, much like Aleister's signature spell, "Blasting Rod."

Previously, Roy had possessed deep theoretical understanding but lacked practical ability—a classic case of "a giant in thought, a dwarf in action." But now, having successfully slain a god and become a Campione through Pandora's Circle of Usurpation, he had finally gained the power to act.

"Aiwass… did you also enter that 'Phase' earlier?"

"After sensing your 'spirit' crossing into that Phase, I grew concerned and went to check on you."

Roy's lips twitched at her words. Why did this angel have to phrase it so ambiguously? Even saying things like "I was concerned about you."

"Pandora didn't notice you?"

"At her level, it's impossible for her to detect me."

That brief response made it clear to Roy—whether it was Pandora or the Heretic Gods of this world, none could compare to this angel from a higher Phase, born from the theories of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life.

"This is a novel world. The ritual used by that woman called Pandora perfectly aligns with the origin of this world, though her ritual has significant flaws. She could have done better, but that's all there is to it."

Aiwass's expression showed no trace of disdain or mockery, yet her brief words alone revealed her uniqueness. With just a glance, she had grasped the core of Pandora's Circle of Usurpation and pinpointed its flaws.

Roy had once tried hard to observe the workings of Pandora's Circle of Usurpation, but with his limited knowledge, he could only vaguely discern a tiny fraction of it.

Soon, Roy realized this wasn't particularly surprising. After all, Aiwass symbolized the number '93'—the 'Secret Chief' who 'preserves knowledge' and 'imparts knowledge.'

"Aiwass, can you analyze Pandora's Circle of Usurpation? Even... perfect this ritual?"

Roy was deeply curious about Pandora's ritual.

"Theoretically, it can be done. It's merely a 'ritual magic' adapted to this world's rules. However, I need time to observe this world further. Different worlds have too many variables to generalize completely."

"...I understand what you mean, Roy. Even if you hadn't asked, I would have tried to analyze this ritual. I always take great interest in observing the unknown and the intriguing."

"Ha, just like me and my father, Aleister? Because you find it interesting, you observe—even to the point of personally intervening."

Roy wasn't questioning her; he was simply stating a fact in a calm tone.

Aiwass didn't respond, because she had already answered Roy through her actions.

Sometimes, Aiwass loved keeping secrets, unwilling to say anything. Yet at other times, this angel was remarkably honest, using actions to convey her choices.

"Let's first examine the authority I've gained as a Campione. Pandora's Circle of Usurpation can be a long-term research project."

With that, Roy closed his eyes, sensing the changes in his body.

After slaying a god and using the deity as a sacrificial offering in the ritual, an immense surge of 'cursed energy'—or rather, extremely high-quality mana—had emerged within Roy's body.

At the same time, his physique had undergone drastic changes. The most significant was his 'magic resistance,' which had reached an almost absurd level. Ordinary spells couldn't affect or harm him in the slightest, and even grand spells were greatly weakened against his resistance.

This was why even the most powerful magicians couldn't oppose Heretic Gods—they were nearly immune to mortal magic, with only a handful of the strongest spells having any effect.

Compared to magic resistance, a Campione's growth in 'physical resistance' wasn't as exaggerated. Their stamina and vitality far surpassed mortals, but not insurmountably so—a powerful magician could train to that level as well.

To be precise, while Campione's physical abilities are formidable, they still fall within the bounds of "human" limits.

However, Campiones were never meant to rely on physical prowess—that was merely the most basic foundation of their existence. The true strength of a Campione lay in the Authorities they stole from the gods!

After slaying a deity and completing the ritual of deicide, Roy instinctively understood the nature and usage of his Authorities.

"Authorities usurped from gods are deeply connected to the characteristics and compatibility of the Campione themselves. Even if two Campiones kill the same god, the Authorities they obtain may differ... And for me, who has comprehended the Book of 777, the number 'seven' holds an extraordinary significance."

Roy's expression was rather peculiar. The Book of the 777 recorded Aleister's thoughts, its actual content being a blasphemy against the concept of perfection in the Christian Bible.

Yet the god he had slain was the strongest and most glorious angel in Christianity, one intrinsically linked to the number "seven."

Roy had obtained seven Authorities in one go—so comprehensive and powerful that even he was astonished. However, much like the protagonist of the original story, because he had acquired so many Authorities at once, each came with its own restrictions.

Each of the seven Authorities had its own name. After some thought, Roy murmured, "...Michael is the 'One Like God,' seated at the right hand of the Lord, an angel 'equal to God.' In Christianity, the 'right side' symbolizes 'equal honor.' In that case, these seven Authorities shall collectively be called—『The Holy Right』!"
