Multiverse: Why does the world show a health bar? !

Chapter 304: Chapter 300: Target: The Pope's Hall

Kanzaki Kaori is a Saint.

Although in the current world's power hierarchy, Kanzaki Kaori doesn't rank at the very top. At best, she's a combat unit. But just look at the monsters that stand above her.

The Magic Gods have firmly set the ceiling. At least, within the events of the Old Testament, Kanzaki Kaori's strength still holds some weight.

I think the concept of Magic Gods was introduced as early as Volume 1?

Well...

Sitting in a fast-food restaurant, savoring a sip of cola, the industrial product is undeniably delicious. Even though I know it's just empty calories with no nutritional value, it's still tasty.

A hamburger without cola is simply soulless.

At least, that's what Li Mo thinks.

Having satisfied his hunger, Li Mo focused his thoughts on his earlier encounter with Kanzaki Kaori.

It could hardly be called a fight.

He hadn't even attacked her.

But from the speed of her movements and the force with which she shattered the wall, he could deduce...

If he wanted to face her head-on, he'd need to rely on magecraft enhancements to barely keep up. She was practically a humanoid Servant, just without a Noble Phantasm—more like a frail Servant like Hans Christian Andersen.

And she had a special move that was particularly effective against magic.

Given her core beliefs... even if the world changed, she could still use it. After all, the religions of the two worlds shared some similarities.

"If Kanzaki Kaori is this strong, what about the other members of God's Right Seat? Has combat power inflation gone too far?"

Realistically, Li Mo still believed he could win. In terms of survivability, he had already surpassed her by a wide margin.

But in a conventional fight, he definitely wasn't her match.

For now, it's better to avoid her.

The current timeline is somewhat awkward. Most otherworldly travelers come to this world to save the Sisters, but Accelerator had already been beaten by Kamijou Touma and had now become the protector of the Misaka clones.

Fortunately, at least it's not a situation where Magic Gods are everywhere, and there are still beings like the Transcendents.

In the main world, the events of *A Certain Magical Index* are still in the New Testament arc. Li Mo knew that after the New Testament, there was the Genesis Testament. Unfortunately, he hadn't read it. The only thing he remembered was a scene where Aleister Crowley took over Laura Stuart's body, cut her long hair short, and then Kamijou Touma was shown crying while holding Aleister in an illustration.

The future sure is interesting.

His thoughts were wandering a bit too far. He needed to focus on what to do next.

The Angel Fall incident... Let me think. The Angel Fall caused by Kamijou Touma's father had already ended. The next one would be... Fiamma of the Right would perform the Angel Fall ritual to drag down the power of God from the heavens. One of the conditions seemed to be the magician from the Russian Orthodox Church, right?

Sasha? Misha? That magician who had been possessed by the power of God would become the vessel for the "One who is like God," the "Vice-Regent of Heaven." But that was because Fiamma wanted to permanently summon that "Being who Resembles God." For Li Mo, all he needed was to complete the Angel Fall ritual.

The main task was to find the Angel Fall ritual...

But he lacked the necessary information.

Where could he find the information he needed?

Li Mo thought of a place—or rather, a person.

Index.

The Index Librorum Prohibitorum of the magical side.

**103,000 grimoires**—a treasure trove unmatched by any library. The only concerns were that Academy City wasn't an easy place to infiltrate... and the contamination from the grimoires.

Thinking about it, neither was a trivial issue.

"Huh?"

Returning to reality, as he finished the hamburger in his hand and prepared to leave, Li Mo suddenly felt like he was being watched by thousands of eyes.

Turning his head, he noticed a crowd of people outside the window staring at him.

If he remembered correctly, these people were part of the protest crowd. Why were they all looking at him?

Soon, Li Mo understood the reason.

"He's from Academy City."

Even through the window, Li Mo could hear someone in the crowd say this.

Hey, hey, don't go around making assumptions. You're just assuming I'm from Academy City?

Clearly, the people outside were caught up in the atmosphere, becoming part of the mob. They had lost their ability to think critically.

"Grab him."

The crowd began to stir, and with a quick glance, Li Mo could tell that a large group was trying to force their way into the restaurant.

What would happen if they caught him?

Who knows?

More importantly, as an undocumented person, he wouldn't fare well.

Time to run.

He stood up, casually tossed the trash into the bin, and walked past the McDonald's counter, patting the employee on the shoulder and saying in English, "I'll borrow the back door."

Speaking English in France felt a bit awkward.

With his senses extended, the layout of the area appeared clearly in Li Mo's mind. With his physical abilities, it would be easy to shake off the protesting French crowd.

Dodging and weaving, Li Mo found a safe corner. France, with its sparse population, offered many hidden spots in this picturesque city.

Observing the protesters from the shadows, Li Mo pondered a question.

"Why was I assumed to be from Academy City? Isn't my outfit normal? Damn it."

Was he just caught in the crossfire?

After all, to most Westerners, East Asian faces are indistinguishable. Li Mo had once heard a joke: when Koreans do something bad abroad, they claim to be Japanese, and when Japanese do something bad, they claim to be Korean.

Most foreigners can't tell the difference between East Asian nationalities. And currently, Academy City is an independent city-state located in Japan. So, these people assumed that anyone with an East Asian face must be from Academy City?

Isn't that stereotyping a bit too broadly?

Rubbing his temples, Li Mo thought:

The effect of the **C-Document** was merely to incite the public against Academy City, akin to an enhanced form of public opinion manipulation, igniting people's emotions. But did Vento of the Front and her group specify how people should target Academy City using the C-Document?

Protests and targeting East Asians—these were just the methods the crowd came up with to oppose Academy City.

After all, this is France. The birthplace of revolutions. It's normal for people to protest at the drop of a hat.

"This is a bit troublesome."

Understanding this, Li Mo realized he was just collateral damage.

The direct cause was Vento of the Front's use of the C-Document. The root cause was the conflict between the Roman Catholic Church and Academy City. But both sides had rational individuals who wanted to prevent the conflict from escalating further. The reason the C-Document was activated in Avignon and not the Vatican was precisely to avoid escalating tensions. The Roman Catholic Church's hawks, who wanted to escalate the conflict, were the members of God's Right Seat.

So, it all came back to Vento of the Front.

He felt a bit annoyed.

Thinking about Vento of the Front's abilities: Angelic spells, Divine Punishment.

"I might as well just go and kill her."

After all, Vento of the Front was the type to use ordinary people to test her spells—a fanatic.

And... Li Mo also wondered if he could absorb the unique traits of God's Right Seat members.

Having lingered in the shadows for a while, Li Mo found his target.

The Papal Palace in Avignon.
