Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Shadows can be unreliable
Kurumi, who was still silent, looked at me with a serious face, not laughing at all.
"Premature aging."
With two words, she tells me how her power works... However, I get up from the asphalt to stand and open my system to use my last sword, but as I try to summon it, I end up being hit by a beam of blue light from the sky, making me disappear from where Kurumi was.

- Hisss...
I felt a mattress underneath me, a thin, soft mattress... but it wasn't an ordinary bed that I normally rested on.
When I opened my eyes, my vision was blurred, I could only see a few benches around me and a brown floor that appeared to be smooth, like a hospital floor.
My head was a little sore, the only thing I remember... was the shot Kurumi ended up taking at my sword, destroying it completely.
My body was getting up, and my vision had recovered, and when I noticed... I was in a small room that appeared to be a place where patients rested temporarily.
"Wait, did she beat me?"
An automatic door opened in front of me, and a girl came to see me in that room.
"Yes, this shouldn't be news to you... but it's impressive that you were able to withstand the chaos for a civilian with little experience."
She had red hair, a short stature that compared to me was a post, burgundy social clothes, and her head bows that had contrasting black and burgundy lines that matched the rest of her clothes.
Her voice was pretty, but with an air of superiority, describing that she wasn't surprised that I had been defeated, but was surprised that I had survived the attack in time.
Recognizing all her features, I realized it was her... Kotori Itsuka, the commander who ran the Fraxinus Ship, where everything is planned and decided either around her, or around all her teammates.
In short, everything is planned and decided for the sake of control and success to ensure that the spirits don't cause trouble easily and that there is peace according to their actions.
"At least I gave that bitch some interesting entertainment... next time it'll be a lot easier."
I firmly affirmed the step I had just taken, and that in the future I could seal some spirits because I knew what steps to take next.
Kotori's expression was one of a small smile as she sucked on her favorite strawberry lollipop.
"You're pretty confident for my taste, plus your sarcasm in calling a time spirit a Whore... I like that."
I end up smiling at her, making things more reciprocal... seeing all this around me, I was wanting to explore this ship out of sheer curiosity since I'm resting on this bed.
As I tried to get up from the mattress, I felt that my legs weren't working, as if the blood circulation in my legs had stopped... causing me to stumble and automatically hold onto a small table on the side.
"What's wrong with my legs?"
"Don't strain yourself too much, you're not 100% restored yet, I'd forgotten to explain about the blue beam that hit you."
Following her orders, I sit down on the bed so I can hear what she has to say about it.
"If you could be brief, I have an appointment at my school, so I can't stay here for long."
I decided to let Kotori know about the school commitment, she sighed and understood the situation and would summarize to me how this beam worked.
"That blue beam is used in emergency situations, a blast of energy hits the desired target so that we can bring them to our ship safely... and it was the only way we could save you from that crazy woman's next attack."
"Do you have any other ways of teleporting targets?"
Kotori eats the lollipop quickly and then takes another one from her pocket and sucks on it to finish.
"We do, we have an ultrasonic elevator, however... Kurumi's visibility is enormous... and it could reach her power at the ultrasonic level."
Listening clearly to all this, I remembered how this technology mimicked the teleportation power of a warrior whose hair changed color with each transformation, and he could teleport anywhere in an instant.
"Kurumi's visibility is inexplicable, the timing and response to every decision is perfect in the focus of a fatal murder, she would have taken your life in an instant if I hadn't used the blue beam on you."
She uses a control and opens a digital hologram in front of me, showing what the state of the sword had looked like when it was destroyed.
"We captured a video of what your sword looked like after the shot, it started to rust... becoming very similar to premature aging, to a point where it shatters and in the end explodes with luminous dust."
Her finger ends up clicking a button, and she shows another piece of information about my sword.
"I've also just discovered that this sword doesn't originate from a spirit, its creation? I don't know... and you wouldn't have the physical ability to create such a sword either, there was a little Reiryoku energy in it, but it's not enough to hurt a spirit."
Kotori turns off the panel, confused because she doesn't understand how I got that sword, after all... it was my system that gave it to me, and she'll never know, so I'd rather let her delude herself about me so that in the end she'll regret underestimating me.
"Finally, this blue beam has the effect of making the target's body weak from coming into contact with such a powerful light, the weakening effect lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes, and your rescue took place 2 hours ago, you ended up napping more than usual anyway."
[Time: 3:00 PM / Location: Fraxinus Spacecraft]
My arms were crossed watching the mattress, I didn't know how to proceed with the next subject, but something was spinning in my mind... could the power and technology of this ship stand up against the powers of other races in this world? Demons, angels, and the renegades of heaven?
"Do you have anything to say to me, Kotori?"
The room remained completely silent, Kotori bit into her lollipop once again and sat down in a chair by the door, her mouth open to yawn and answer in a few words.
"Yes, I have something."
