Chapter 260: Saitama: “Hey Rich Guy, Let’s Be Friends!”

— — — — — —

A terrifying giant—taken down in a single blow by some unfamiliar guy!

But what really left everyone speechless was that this unknown hero didn't just stop there. He actually made the giant's body vanish, completely erasing any risk of secondary damage to the city. Just like that.

It was absurd. Unheard of!

"Who is he? Doesn't seem to be on our hero registry... Looks like some young guy we've never seen before!"

"He's kinda hot though..."

"Wait, I found something! There's info on him—but it's... kinda weird."

"Weird how?"

"Well, according to this, that guy—Renzo—is just an ordinary person!"

"Probably just someone who's been hiding his strength," someone chimed in. "Not that uncommon, really."

"True... So should we send him an invitation?"

The team leader gave a firm nod. "Absolutely. Based on what we just saw, he clearly has a hero's heart. No one else stepped up to stop that thing—he did. And he even cleaned up the aftermath. That kind of awareness? That's rare."

Plenty of heroes in the Association were powerful—but how many would think to handle cleanup like that?

"We should give him a rank and benefits worthy of his contribution."

"Agreed. He basically saved an entire city. A-Class, Rank 2 seems fair."

"With the power he showed, I bet he'll rise fast once he starts building his record."

"Yeah, but putting him straight at A-Class Rank 2? That's bound to ruffle some feathers," someone muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "Think he can handle the heat?"

The room quieted. Everyone knew who'd be upset. The current A-Class Rank 1—Sweet Mask—and B-Class Rank 1—Blizzard of Hell—would definitely take notice.

The leader just smiled calmly. "That's the price of the crown. If he accepts the rank, he should be ready for what comes with it."

"Alright then," someone said, typing rapidly. "I'll start drafting the official offer to Mr. Renzo right away."

Meanwhile, back in B-City

Saitama had just leapt out of the crater he was slammed into when he looked around and blinked.

"Huh? Where'd the giant go?"

Standing mid-air above the rubble, Renzo looked back at him, calm and composed.

"I took care of him," Renzo said with a relaxed smile. "And thanks for the help earlier—your distraction gave me the perfect opening."

Then he floated down and offered a handshake. "Name's Renzo. I'm about to become a hero... just for fun. You?"

Saitama paused. "Hey! That's my line!"

Still, the guy seemed genuine, and Saitama shrugged, shaking his hand. "Saitama. I've been a hero for fun for a few years now."

He tilted his head and gave Renzo a curious look. "You're strong, huh? Want to spar sometime?"

Saitama's usual blank stare had vanished, replaced by genuine excitement and a rare fighting spirit.

Renzo quickly waved his hands. "Maybe later! I've got more urgent things to figure out... like where I'm going to live now. Pretty sure my house got flattened."

He looked off toward a nearby pile of smoldering rubble—what used to be his home, before his memories awakened and his life flipped upside down.

"Oh, man..." Saitama scratched his bald head and gave him a look of sympathy. "That sucks. Uh... your family...?"

"No worries. I'm an orphan—been on my own for a long time."

"Crap... sorry, didn't mean to poke at a sore spot."

Saitama felt like he'd just stepped on every landmine possible.

"Well, uh... actually," he said, rubbing the back of his neck, "where I live now, it's in an abandoned zone—nobody's around anymore. If you don't mind, you could move into one of the empty units nearby. No rent, no hassle. Could help in the short term."

Renzo's eyes lit up. He had been racking his brain for a way to get closer to Saitama without seeming too pushy—this was perfect.

"Seriously? That would be amazing!"

"Of course! That whole area's basically a ghost town anyway. I'd be glad to have you as a neighbor."

Truthfully, Saitama had a different motive. Renzo seemed powerful, and if they lived close, it'd be easier to challenge him to a fight now and then.

"If he's someone who can push me, or even beat me... that'd be awesome."

Just thinking about it got Saitama fired up.

"Thanks again, Saitama! I don't really have money problems or anything, but I'd still love to be neighbors."

Renzo gave him a grateful smile and patted him on the shoulder.

"Wait—hold up." Saitama blinked. "You don't have money problems? What's that supposed to mean? Are you, like... secretly rich or something?"

"But you don't look like a rich guy!"

He eyed Renzo up and down skeptically. "Putting aside the fact that your place just got flattened… judging by what you're wearing, I'd say your whole outfit's probably worth, what, five hundred yen tops?"

That's like… absolute bargain table territory.

The kind of stuff you'd find at a dusty street stall. Saitama couldn't help but think: "Dude, if you're broke, just say so. I'm broke too—I'm not gonna judge you!"

Renzo chuckled softly. "Well, I'm trying to keep a low profile, that's all."

As he spoke, he casually snapped his fingers.

In the blink of an eye, his clothes began to shift—completely transforming in material and structure. It was like watching reality itself bend.

What was once a simple outfit was now a high-grade combat suit, made from a hyperfiber straight out of a Gundam universe—tough, flame-resistant, waterproof, acid-proof. Renzo had even embedded magical runes into the fabric.

The whole thing was now a top-tier piece of magical equipment. Stylish and functional.

Saitama stared, wide-eyed. "What the heck? Was that… magic?"

Just a second ago it was normal clothing, and now it looked like something straight out of a fantasy RPG's loot.

With his sharp vision, Saitama could immediately tell this wasn't just for show—the material was insanely durable.

"Yeah, you could call it that," Renzo said, smiling. "Not just clothes—appliances, houses, gold… if I understand how something works, I can basically create it from scratch."

"So yeah, I'm really not short of money."

Saitama gawked. "Then why'd you agree to crash in some abandoned dump near my place?!"

He just couldn't wrap his head around it.

Renzo gave him a look like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Because it's peaceful. Isn't that why you chose to live there?"

"…You know what? Yeah! I knew I liked you! We totally click!" Saitama grinned and gave him a big thumbs-up.

(This guy's a gold mine!)

(If he can create gold out of thin air, wasn't that basically unlimited cash?)

(No way this dude would ever be broke.)

Saitama was already thinking about future free meals.

(Smart move, me. Smart move.)

"Oh, right—" Renzo glanced over at Saitama's tattered hero costume. "Looks like your outfit's been through the wringer. Want me to patch it up? Maybe reinforce it a bit while I'm at it—make it tougher, flashier?"

Honestly, Saitama's hero outfit was kind of iconic. One look and you'd never forget it.

But let's be real—it was also… pretty ugly.

"Huh? You can do that? That'd be awesome!" Saitama's eyes lit up. He gave a little bow, genuinely touched. "Thanks, man!"

"No need to be so formal. We're friends, right? Helping each other out is what friends do," Renzo replied with a wink. "And I'm sure when I run into trouble, you'll have my back too."

He reached out and tapped Saitama's suit lightly.

In that instant, Saitama—thanks to his sharp eyesight—watched as the fibers of his costume began to morph rapidly, changing on a molecular level.

Within seconds, the entire outfit had transformed. It now shared the same cutting-edge material as Renzo's own gear—ten times more durable, a hundred times more comfortable.

It felt amazing.

And the design? Stylish as hell.

"Whoa…"

Saitama looked down at his new suit, his eyes sparkling like a kid who'd just unwrapped the best toy ever. He couldn't stop grinning.

"Dude, thank you so much! From now on, you're my best bud! Seriously—if you ever need anything, just say the word. As long as it's not something evil, I'll totally help you out!"

Now THIS is the kind of friend you want in your life.

Just a single tap, and not only did his hero costume get fixed—it got upgraded to elite status.

Now he didn't have to worry about it getting ruined in every fight.

And even if it did?

He could just ask Renzo for another quick fix.

Easy.
