Chapter 255: The Final Dragon Ball

— — — — — —

"I really am sorry! If there's anything I can do to make it up to you, just say the word!"

Blue-haired Launch gave an apologetic smile.

"R-Really?"

Master Roshi asked cautiously, squinting at her suspiciously.

He needed to make sure this wasn't some kind of trap.

"Yes, yes!"

Blue-haired Launch nodded sweetly, her whole demeanor practically screaming "I'm an easy target."

"In that case…" Roshi's eyes gleamed as they darted around. "How about you stay and be our cook?"

"Uh.... oka—"

Launch looked like she was about to agree.

"Absolutely not!"

Before she could answer, Bulma slammed her hands on the table, stormed over, and yanked Launch behind her.

"You perv!" she snapped at Roshi. "Don't think I don't know what you're really after! I'm not letting this happen!"

Turning to Launch, she huffed, "You're way too easy to fool! Honestly, your other self is more reliable... well, kind of... not really. But still better than this version!"

"You're totally gonna get taken advantage of at this rate!"

Bulma crossed her arms. "You're coming home with me. We're rich anyway, so it's not like I can't support one more person. Plus, my mom would love to have someone around to chat with."

From her perspective, the blonde version of Launch might've been a bit rough, but at least she had a sense of right and wrong—perfect bodyguard material.

As for the blue-haired one? Total bestie potential.

But under no circumstances was she leaving her here with Master Roshi to get ruined.

"Wait, really? You'd let me stay with you?" Launch looked stunned.

"Of course! My house, my rules. Right, darling?"

Bulma beamed confidently and turned to Dragorr for backup.

"Yep, Boss Bulma is right," he nodded without hesitation.

Launch's dual personality was fun to have around, and leaving her with Roshi really wasn't a good idea. Better she go with Bulma.

"You heard him!" Bulma grinned, hugging Launch's arm. "It's settled then!"

"Alright, sounds good to me."

Launch didn't argue. She could tell Bulma meant well.

Besides, the way Roshi was looking at her? Seriously uncomfortable.

"Ah man…"

Roshi and Krillin both looked completely deflated.

Not that they dared complain. With Dragorr backing Bulma, she had more than enough authority to shut them down.

Plus… they were honestly kind of afraid of blonde Launch anyway.

After lunch, Dragorr began teaching Roshi and the others some meditation techniques and physical training methods. Bulma even dragged Launch along to join the lessons.

By the time he finished, it was already late afternoon.

Before they left, Dragorr also picked up a few more skills from Roshi—like that Mind Reading technique and the "Thunder Shock Surprise"—then got ready to head out in the hovercar with Bulma and Launch.

But not before handing Roshi a little parting gift.

"This is for you, Sensei," Dragorr said, passing him a space bracelet. "You can use this to store stuff."

"There's also a teleportation marker set inside. Every week, I'll send a fresh batch of high-grade nutrient foods into the storage space."

"Make sure you take some out each day for Goku, yourself, and the others to keep up with the training!"

"I also left some money in there for you to buy supplies and whatever else you guys might need."

"That's pretty much it. We're heading out now, but we'll drop by again soon!"

With that, Dragorr climbed into the hovercar with the two girls.

"Thanks, kid! Safe travels! Don't forget to visit often!" Roshi called out with a warm smile as he waved goodbye.

He really was proud of this student.

Though… the kid learned everything way too fast. Didn't leave him any room to feel like a master.

"Bye, brother senpai!" Goku and Krillin chimed in as they waved.

"See ya!!"

The hovercar roared off, shooting across the sky and leaving the tiny island behind.

"Are we heading straight home?" Bulma asked as they flew.

"Of course not!" Dragorr chuckled. "We're going to find the rest of the Dragon Balls. Once we've got them all and made the wish, then we'll go back."

He knew Bulma too well.

She'd ditched school for this trip—and let's be real, school was a joke for someone like her.

She had already self-studied everything they were teaching. She had even mastered a ton of advanced knowledge well beyond her grade level.

Otherwise, there's no way she could've invented things like the Dragon Radar on her own.

"Yay! Dragorr, you're the best! I love you!!!"

Bulma suddenly threw herself at him, planted a kiss right on his cheek, then quickly backed off, her face glowing red.

"Ara ara~!"

Launch, the blue-haired one, giggled with a hand to her lips. "You two are so sweet together! I'm kinda jealous~!"

"Hehe!" Blushing, Bulma smiled, then turned to Launch with an apologetic look. "Sorry, Launch! We're not heading home just yet—we're still out hunting for the Dragon Balls. Hope you don't mind tagging along a bit longer!"

"Or… Dragorr can fly you back to my place first?"

But Launch just shook her head gently and smiled. "It's really okay! I actually find treasure hunting pretty fun. Going on an adventure with you guys sounds way more exciting than just sitting around at home."

"You're the best!"

Bulma hugged her without hesitation, then gave her a kiss on the cheek too.

Honestly, she was growing to love Launch's gentle, sweet personality more and more.

So for the next month or so, Dragorr took Bulma and Launch all over the place, collecting the Dragon Balls one by one.

Whenever they found a cool spot or an interesting sight along the way, they'd stop and explore for a few days—treating the quest like a road trip as much as a mission.

At one point, they even ran into Oolong—the pervy little shape-shifter trying to scam people again with his transformations.

After giving him a solid lesson, Dragorr used Flying Thunder God to package him up and personally deliver him to Master Roshi for "re-education."

Well... Kinda.

Later, they got caught up in the whole Fire Mountain incident.

By the time Dragorr and the girls got there, Roshi and Goku's crew had already handled the situation.

Even so, Dragorr stepped in and finished the fire job with an ice-based move to put out the flames completely—earning the Ox-King's gratitude and another Dragon Ball as a reward.

Afterward, Roshi gave the Ox-King a bit of a scolding, warning him to clean up his act, before heading off with Goku and the others.

Dragorr and his team hit the road again.

...

"Wow, time really flies, huh?" Bulma sighed as she stared at the radar. "It's like, in the blink of an eye, almost two months have passed! And we've already got six Dragon Balls! Just one left to go!"

She frowned and poked at the radar.

"But why isn't the last one showing up? It was there before. Did the radar break?"

"I don't think that's it," Dragorr said, glancing at the device. "The radar looks fine to me. My guess? Someone used some kind of tech or ability to hide the signal—masking the Dragon Ball's energy."

"Red Queen!"

He immediately called out, "Scan the last known position where the Dragon Ball signal disappeared. Then search the surrounding 500 kilometers for anything unusual."

"Yes, Master!"

The AI, Red Queen, began her scan.

A few moments later, she projected a virtual display in front of them.

"Master, I've got something. Within that 500-kilometer radius, there's one location that stands out above the rest."

She switched the screen to show an aerial fortress hovering over the area.

"I also accessed their internal network and security footage. Here's what I found."

The screen flickered to a clip of a blue creature holding a high-tech container. Next to him stood a dog-headed man and a woman.

"Boss, isn't this a bit excessive?" the dog-man asked.

"You idiot!" snapped the little blue guy. "Our radar showed the other six Dragon Balls had all gathered together—and they were heading straight toward our last known location!"

"Clearly, someone else is hunting them too—and they're way faster than we are!"

"If we don't hide this one now, and they track us down, we'll lose everything before we even know who we're dealing with!"

The footage cut off.

It was more than enough. Just like Dragorr guessed, the last Dragon Ball had been snatched and was now being hidden inside that flying fortress—its energy signature suppressed by some kind of tech.

"Knew it!" Bulma turned to Dragorr with a big thumbs-up. "Nice one! That little blue gremlin's the thief! Let's go after them—now!"

"Right." Dragorr nodded and had Red Queen lock in the coordinates.

Without wasting another second, they changed course and headed straight for the fortress in the sky.
