Chapter 19: Chapter 19 - Alfia’s Guidance
The Middle Floors of the dungeon begin from Floor 13 onward.
This area was far more perilous than the Upper Floors.
Its internal structure mainly consisted of rocky labyrinths, confusing and disorienting passageways known for leading adventurers to panic, despair—and death.
It truly lived up to the title of a death zone.
The number and strength of monsters here were overwhelmingly high.
Not only were they vicious attackers, but many of them also had special abilities—like breathing fire.
Unnatural phenomena could occur here, including sudden terrain shifts.
Occasional large-scale collapses could block official routes or cut off escape paths for adventurers.
If one couldn't react calmly to sudden danger—
Their fate would most likely be death.
The Middle Floors featured a diverse range of monster types—and even floor bosses.
Unlike the Upper Floors, which had man-eating ogres, battle shadows, killer ants, blue butterflies, kobolds, and frog shooters...
All monsters here were at least Level 2.
For example: axe-wielding one-horned rabbits, flame-spewing hellhounds, savage minotaurs, and more.
At this moment—
Raven Eltharion and Alfia had landed safely on Floor 13, inside a naturally formed cavern halfway up a rocky slope.
They had fallen all the way down from Floor 2 above.
The air here was damp, and the floor was littered with gray rocks.
The surrounding walls, ground, and ceiling were all made of solid bedrock.
The faint glow from the walls was dimmer than in the upper layers.
In addition—
There were vertical shaft-like holes at the base of some walls—trap holes leading to deeper layers.
The distinctive feature of Floor 13 was that all hallways connecting rooms were very long.
While they were straight rather than twisting—
You couldn't see the end of the path ahead.
And although wider than the Upper Floors—
That just meant it was easier for adventurers to be surrounded by swarming monsters!
"Seriously—"
"You couldn't have told me before we jumped?!"
Raven, clutching his pounding heart, complained with an exasperated look.
Alfia released her grip from his waist and calmly explained:
"Going one floor at a time wastes too much time."
"I didn't know how long your mana and mental strength would hold out."
"So I took the fastest shortcut."
"...Yeah, it sure was fast," Raven sighed, sweat dripping down his forehead. "Faster than even I would've tried!"
"Anyway, let me tell you what abilities I have."
"Then you can teach me some techniques."
"Alright," Alfia's eyes lit up with interest.
As someone whose loyalty to Raven was maxed out, [Silence] was no outsider.
That's why Raven didn't hesitate to share his full list of abilities with her.
He trusted her to use that knowledge to help train and guide him efficiently.
For a complete rookie—
Going straight to the Middle Floors on his very first day?
No one would believe it.
After all—
Ais Wallenstein had spent half a year reaching Floor 10.
Bell Cranel, in the original story, took about twenty days to reach Floor 10.
But Raven?
On his first day, he had already reached Floor 13, and perhaps even lower!
As Alfia listened closely, a look of shock and admiration grew ever brighter in her eyes.
And without them noticing—
A pack of hellhounds had surrounded them.
There were at least 20 to 30 of them!
"Rooooaaaar!!"
"GRRRRRAH!!"
Suddenly—
The entire swarm of hellhounds lunged at them with bloodthirsty fury.
Alfia's gaze sharpened, and her cold voice became laced with magic.
"Disgusting noise—vanish."
As soon as she finished speaking—
A sonic explosion ripped through the battlefield, instantly obliterating every hellhound in sight.
Raven stared in awe at her performance.
So strong…!
"Any other abilities?" Alfia asked.
"Nope, that's everything for now," Raven shook his head. "Though I might unlock new ones in the future."
Alfia, with her exceptional insight, quickly pinpointed something crucial:
"You can't use offensive spells while I'm summoned, right?" she asked, glancing at his staff.
Raven nodded. "Yeah, not at the moment."
"No—you can," Alfia insisted, her gaze fixed on his weapon.
She meant that—
By channeling magic into the Thousand Feathers Staff, Raven could unleash various elemental effects.
That process was called weapon enchantment!
Raven's eyes widened with realization. He had never considered using his artifact that way!
He had totally wasted such a powerful weapon until now.
Then, Alfia began teaching him—
How to cast spells in quick succession, speed up long chants, and even cast multiple spells simultaneously.
Why?
Because Raven's first skill, Heavenly Demonic Whirl, had a fifth passive that clearly said:
"The more chanting, the greater the spell's amplification!"
In other words—
As long as Raven kept chanting,
The power of his spells would grow exponentially.
Of course, even the most powerful magic had to actually hit to be effective.
Otherwise, it was just wasted mana.
That's where the fourth passive of [Sanctified Palace of Sorcery] came in:
"Detect enemies within range."
Yes.
This passive allowed him to auto-lock targets—making escape impossible for enemies.
Upon hearing all this—
Raven was left stunned, his eyes wide with disbelief.
"I never realized… my magic is actually that insane..."
"Indeed," Alfia nodded without hesitation. "You'll definitely surpass even me someday."
She then asked, "May I borrow your staff?"
Raven handed it to her. "You're going to show me how to use it?"
"Yes," Alfia accepted it with one hand and couldn't help but praise it. "It fits perfectly in my grip."
Because [Silence] was Raven's summon, the Thousand Feathers Staff did not reject her touch.
Had it been anyone else, merely grabbing it would've triggered a severe burning backlash.
"Watch closely."
Alfia infused it with magic.
