Multiverse Heroes: Magical Destinies(AmphibiaxSVTFOExTOH)

Chapter 3: Two Separate Adventures

A bit later inside Butterfly Castle, both Lilith and Amity had taken the time explain their situation and what was happening, hoping to get the assistance they needed. Everything was relayed in the throne room of Queen Moon and King River.

"So, you're both from a place called the Boiling Isles, which appears to mostly inhabited by witches," Marco said. "And you met a girl from the Human Realm who found her way back home, but you think she might need help."

"More my sister and my friend King, neither of them are humans," Lilith explained. "My sister is familiar with that realm but she only goes there for 'business reasons'. I doubt she can last that long."

"Plus, we don't know how King will take it," Amity explained. "To my knowledge, he's never been to the Human Realm.

"You also mentioned this Emperor guy who wants to invade both the Human Realm and Mewni?" Star asked.

"Yes, he hopes to steal some scissors he heard about from a girl named Hekapoo," Lilith said.

"Oh those dimensional scissors, yeah I know all about them, I had to chase that girl forever just to get a pair of my own," Marco said.

"Wait, you have your own pair of those dimensional scissors!?" Amity asked. "This is perfect, we can use them to find my friend and warn the Human Realm of a potential invasion."

"I'd be happy to help, so do you know where exactly your friend went?" Marco asked.

"Uh…," Amity just realized she wasn't sure how to pinpoint. "Well, I know she's somewhere in the Human Realm."

"Well, that's a great start, but where exactly," Marco said. "The Human Realm is big. What town does she live in?"

"Town?" Amity scratched her head, trying to remember. "Uh, I don't know for sure exactly, I don't think she mentioned it that much."

"I think I remember, I think it was a village called, 'Connecticut'," Lilith said.

"Connecticut? I know where that is, but that's not a village, it's an entire state," Marco said. "Do you know where in Connecticut she might be?"

"I don't really remember, maybe my sister knows," Lilith said. "Ugh, but she's with Luz, so she can't help either."

"Well I'm gonna need a little more detail other than 'Connecticut'," Marco said. "I mean, I can probably go back home and see if I can find this girl on the internet or something."

"The internet?" Lilith asked. "Sounds familiar."

"It's that thing Luz mentions a lot, has a lot of data," Amity said, then focused back to Star and Marco. "Anyway you can help us would be great."

"We'll get right on it then," Marco said.

"Hold on a second," Moon said, getting their attention. "There is the matter of the other Invaders you mentioned. The ones who followed you here."

"Oh yes, Kikimora and The Golden Guard," Lilith said. "Unfortunately while trying to escape into this world, two of Belos's allies followed us."

"Are they dangerous?" Marco asked.

"Well, the Golden Guard is just a kid, not much older than you," Lilith said. "Kikimora is a bit more troubling but I don't think it's anything we can't handle."

"You two did say you were witches correct?" River asked. "So I trust you know powerful magic."

"Well, I can use it, Lilith has trouble unfortunately," Amity said.

"Yes, I did have my magic drained, but I can still do some basics," Lilith said, pulling out a glyph. "You may want to step back."

"Uh, alright," Marco said, stepping back with Star while Lilith set things up. Within seconds, she was able to create ice from her glyph, much to her relief.

"This at least confirms my glyphs still work in this realm," Lilith said. "I guess the downside is that our enemies will be able to use magic here as well."

"Why wouldn't they work?" Marco asked.

"It can be difficult for those in my realm to do magic on any other realm, such as The Human Realm," Lilith said.

"You mean Earth?" Star asked. "How could it be troubling? I use magic there with no problem."

"It takes a lot of training, most witches draw magic from the land they're in, it is easier on the Boiling Isles than it is on Earth. We also have a special organ in our bodies which channels that same magic," Lilith said. "My sister's apprentice Luz had trouble using her magic when she briefly went back to the Human Realm the first time."

"Using magic outside can be a bit troubling," Amity said, creating a magic circle in air. "Fortunately I don't have that trouble myself."

"There's a lot of magic in this realm," Marco said. "One of the most magical places you'll see."

"Can you do magic?" Amity asked.

"Me? No, I'm not the magic type," Marco said, getting into a fighting stance. "My abilities are more combat based."

"Combat? Like martial arts?" Lilith asked.

"Yeah, I'm a Red Belt in Karate," Marco explained. "It's one of the highest ranks a martial artist can achieve."

"Marco looks scrawny and weak, but he's pretty strong," Star said.

"Yeah, I'm pretty..." Marco turned to Star in annoyance. "Hey! I'm not scrawny! I have muscle!"

"Oh that's a good one," Came the voice of Janna Ordonia, the other Earth girl walking in while munching a bag of chips.

"Not now Janna, we're having an interdimensional crises," Marco said.

"So what else is new?" Janna said, taking a look at the Boiling Isles natives. "So what's their deal? And what's with their ears? Are they elves?"

"We're witches, thank you," Amity said, a little annoyed by the prior comparison.

"Witches? Aren't you supposed to be flying around on brooms while wearing pointy black hats?" Janna asked.

"That's a stereotype! We don't have black hats!" Amity said. "And we use Palismen to fly."

"Oh, sorry, don't hex me," Janna teased.

"I can do more than just 'hex' you," Amity warned.

"Ignore Janna, she just likes annoying people," Marco said.

"I also like long walks on the beach," Janna joked. "So, do you two come in peace?"

"Yes, but the other witches who came here don't," Lilith said.

"Oh, more witches? Is there an invasion or something?" Janna asked.

"There could be, especially when Emperor Belos makes his move," Lilith said. "He is one of the most powerful witches on the Boiling Isles."

"We'll be ready for this so-called Emperor in due time," Moon said. "River, go alert our forces"

"Yes dear," River said, standing up and making his way out of the throne room.

"Question..." Janna began, Marco and Amity both lamenting what could be on her mind. "You said 'he', that implies boy."

"Yes, 'he' means boy. And 'she' means girl," Amity said. "Is there a point to your sudden lecture on pronoun grammar?"

"What I mean is, I thought only girls could be witches, and boys were wizards," Janna said.

"No, boys can be witches too," Amity said. "Where did you even get the idea that a boy can't be a witch?"

"I got it from a book, think it's called Cynthia Coven" Janna said.

"You read that book?" Marco asked.

"Well, technically I saw the movie, close enough," Janna said. "Also if boys can be witches, then what's the difference between a witch and a wizard?"

"How should I know? I don't know a wizard," Amity said.

"Wow, you are one clueless witch, but fun to mess with," Janna said. "Watch out Marco, you might have some competition on being an easy target."

Marco groaned in annoyance, "I am not an easy-"

"Chicken butt," Janna said, snapping her finger and sending Marco to sleep immediately.

"Huh? How did you do that?" Lilith asked. "Do you know magic?"

"Oh no, I just hypnotized him once, what's funny is that he doesn't even remember," Janna said, making her exit. "Well see ya witches."

"I just met that girl and she's already the most annoying person I've encountered in my life, almost on par with my brother and sister," Amity said, then took note of Marco. "He'll be alright, won't he?"

"It's fine, just snap your finger," Star said, snapping Marco awake.

"Target!" Marco shouted, then realized he was on the floor. "How does this keep happening!?"

"What an unfortunate child," Lilith said.

Amity walked over to Marco, holding her hand out for him to take, the boy appreciative of the gesture, "Thanks. Again sorry about Janna, she's always been like that." Marco pulled himself up, "Honestly that's probably a record on how fast she's annoyed someone."

"Have you known her long?" Amity asked.

"For years, she torments me so much too, and she does such weird things," Marco said. "She somehow got a copy of my house keys, she knows pretty much all my personal data, she even keeps sneaking into my wallet, and it's got high level security."

"That does sound frustrating, sorry you put up with that," Amity said. "Wait, is she from the Human Realm too?"

"Yeah, we both came from Earth," Marco said. "It's weird though, I came here through some magic scissors. I don't know how Janna got here, unless she was hiding in my room when we brought it over."

"You brought your room over?" Amity asked.

"Yeah, using some magic, this way I had all my stuff," Marco said. "Anyway I can't tell how she got here, and apparently, she can't even remember herself. I don't know if she's being honest or just messing with me."

"Probably the latter," Amity said. "By the way, how many of those scissors are there?"

"A lot, they're usually watched over by Hekapoo, some were even taken by some villains," Marco said. "Star and I spent months fighting them off."

"Speaking of enemies, can you tell me about someone named 'Toffee'?" Amity asked, Marco amazed by how this girl knew him. Seems like there was a lot to discuss.

Back in Amphibia, both Anne and Luz had gotten home after being pampered at the spa, after working out a deal to make the trip worth it.

"It was really nice of you to offer some assistance there to pay back the services," Luz said.

"Yeah well, I guess this is what being responsible means," Anne said. "Kind of hate it."

"Yeah, it sucks sometimes, but I guess it's part of growing up," Luz said.

"I miss being a kid with no responsibilities," Anne said. "Well, no real responsibilities."

"Same here," Luz said.

"Hey girls," Hop Pop greeted. "Finish the tour?"

"Oh yeah, I showed Luz all the right places," Annes said.

"How is the town, Luz?" Eda asked.

"It's really nice, the frogs are so friendly, it's also got a different atmosphere from the Boiling Isles," Luz said.

"That's great kiddo, glad you're enjoying yourself," Eda said, taking a sip from a glass. "The drinks here aren't half bad either, I think I can get used to this place, for a little while at least."

"Don't worry, I'll find a way back," Luz said. "We can even use help from that chest Anne has."

"It created a portal from here to Earth, maybe it can work for the Boiling Isles too," Anne said.

Luz felt her stomach rumbling, the sound somewhat embarrassing her, "Guess I'm hungry."

"Oh just in time, I just got back from Stumpy's," Hop Pop said, spreading the food out. "Dig in."

"Sweet, let's, hey wait, shouldn't we wait for Sprig, Polly and King?" Anne asked.

"Oh yeah, they've been gone a while, think they're doing alright?" Eda asked.

Suddenly, as if on cue, the trio had rushed in the front door, sweating and in a panic, much to the concern of everyone inside.

"What happened to you three? You look like you've seen a ghost," Eda said.

"Worst! BUGS!" King shouted. "Giant bugs!"

Suddenly some mandibles burst through the door, everyone inside screaming in panic.

"What did you do boy!?" Hop Pop shouted, grabbing a broom to whack away the mandibles.

"Why is your first instinct to blame me!?" Sprig asked, trying to hold the door back.

"Because it WAS your fault!" Polly said. "Spig and Ivy thought it'd be cool to show King a cool new spot in the forest they discovered the other day, somehow unaware that it was crawling with beetles!"

"Wait, where's Ivy then?" Anne asked, helping Hop Pop by using her racket to whack away some more mandibles.

Sprig's eyes widened in shock, "Oh no! Ivy! She's still out there"

He was about to open the door when blocked him, "No way! You're not risking our lives for her!"

"But she's my girlfriend!" Sprig said.

"Well we're your family! So we're more important!" Suddenly the door started breaking down more, Polly immediately running for cover while everyone else got into a stance.

"I got this!" Luz brought out a fire glyph and used it's magic to send fire balls at the bugs, knocking them back as she rushed in to use more fire, completely engulfing the area.

"Whoa!" Sprig said, amazed by this power. "Luz is so amazing!"

Luz turned back with a peace sign to her friends, "No trouble at all."

Unbeknownst to her, the beetles completely emerged from the flames, about to grab her in their mouths.

"Luz!" Anne rushed in and whacked one away before it got her.

"Go Anne!" Sprig cheered, though his enthusiasm faded when the bug recovered immediately. "Oh boy."

"I got this," Eda said, using a pair of lightning glyphs to blast the monsters, sending them flying off back into the forest area. "Dang I'm still good."

"Oh...good grief," Hop Pop said, taking a breath. "Can't we go one week without being in mortal danger?"

"Oh come on, a little mortal danger is a good thing, gets the blood pumping," Eda said.

Polly peeked from behind her hiding spot, "Is it over?"

"Yeah, no thanks to you," Sprig said.

"Oh like you did anything!" Polly shouted. "It's your fault they found us in the first place! You and I Ivy just had to show off!"

"Wait! Ivy! I still gotta find her!" Sprig said.

"Not really, she's coming now actually, with some other frog," King said, gesturing to not only Ivy, but Maddie as well.

"They came this way, let's..." Ivy could see that the beetles were gone. "Oh, they're gone."

"Aw, I wanted to keep trying that spell," Maddie said.

"Who's that other girl?" King asked.

"That would be Maddie, Sprig's first fiancé," Polly explained.

"Ivy!" Sprig rushed over to hug his girlfriend. "So glad you're safe."

"Uh..." Ivy gently pushed Sprig away, flattered by the hug but also feeling awkward. "It's nothing, you didn't think I'd let ya die, did ya?"

"She's lucky I was around, I used an acid bomb to save her from one of the beetles," Maddie said.

"Hey I could have totally handled it on my own," Ivy said, then did a friendly arm punch to Maddie. "But thanks for the help anyway."

"It was nothing," Maddie said, focusing her attention to Eda. "Oh, is this that other witch I heard about?"

"Oh, my reputation is already growing here, feels like home," the older witch said. "I am Eda, The Owl Lady."

"I'm King, her friend," the young demon said.

"I don't know what you are, but you look so cool," Maddie said to King.

"Well, looks like we're already on the same page," King said "I don't know what I am either, but I am cool."

Ivy looked up at the other human in the group, "So, I take it you're Luz?"

"That's right, and you must be Ivy," Luz said, kneeling to the girl. "Sounds like you're a wild one."

"Yeah, I'm kind of intense," Ivy said. "Well welcome to Wartwood, you are officially the fourth human girl to come to town. At this rate we're gonna have to work on accommodations."

"I'm being accommodated just fine," Luz said. "But I appreciate the welcome."

"Now, just a formality, buuuuut, you don't have any evil ulterior motives, do you?" Ivy asked.

"It's cool, she's not like Sasha," Sprig said. "So far at least."

"Well that's the important part," Ivy said.

"Seriously, how bad was this Sasha girl to you?" Luz asked.

"Pretty bad," Polly said.

"Polly…" Hop Pop scolded.

"Hey you've seen yourself how much trouble she can be, she literally tried to kill us!" Polly said.

Hop Pop couldn't argue that logic, "Well, you're not wrong."

"Where is she anyway?" Luz asked. "Does anyone even know her whereabouts?"

"No, she could be anywhere in Amphibia," Sprig said.

"Probably with the other Toads," Hop Pop Theorized.

"Yeah, they could be planning their revenge against us," Polly said.

"Wait, so there can be an invasion at any moment?" Luz asked. "Are you even prepared for that!?"

"It's fine, we have King Andrias on our side," Anne said. "He'll keep us safe, but I'm hoping it won't come to that. Once we get this box working, Marcy and I can take Sasha home where she'll hopefully go back to normal."

"And if she doesn't?" Luz asked.

Anne shrugged it off, "Didn't think that far ahead."

"Anne!" Luz shouted in annoyance.

"Maybe she'll snap out of it, or we can convince her it was all a dream or something," Anne said.

"That sounds like wishful thinking," Luz said.

"Look, I still think we can get Sasha to turn her weird path around, I don't want to give up on her yet," Anne said. "Once we get out of Amphibia, we'll start over with her, for now I just need everyone to cut her a bit of slack."

"We'll do our best, but, I make no promises," Polly said, Sprig agreeing with his sister. This caused a little more doubt from Luz and some confliction from Anne.

"Look, it's late, let's just eat up and head to bed," Hop Pop said. "Today was exhausting."

"Especially for me, getting trapped in another dimension takes it out of you," Eda added.

"We'll get you comfortable Luz," Anne said. "For now, it's chow time. My advice, keep an open mind, and try not to smell at first when you eat, let the tastebuds get used to the sensation."

"Uh, alright, sounds good I guess," Luz said, still feeling a bit worried and unsure about what to expect.

Fortunately for her, the food really wasn't that bad, it wasn't that much better than what she ate on the Boiling Isles, but it wasn't inedible.

"This junk isn't half-bad," Eda said.

"It used to be worse, thankfully Anne fixed up the menu a bit," Polly said.

"Well Anne, I give you my gratitude," Eda said.

After dinner and nightly preparations, it was time for everyone to go to sleep. Luz bunked in the basement with Anne and Sprig, having a spare mat laid out for her.

"Wish I had some PJs," Luz said. "I left almost all my stuff back in the Boiling Isles."

"You can borrow my gym clothes if you want, or my swimsuit," Anne suggested.

"I suppose that's more comfortable than sleeping in regular clothes," Luz said. "Too bad there weren't too many clothes my size."

"Yeah, it's hard for me to shop here too since a lot of the frogs are shorter than I am," Anne said. "You'd need something tailor made for you."

"I can probably sleep in just my under garments but..." Luz gestured to Sprig.

"What? I didn't take your stuff," Sprig said.

"No, I mean...you're a boy," Luz said.

"Yeaaaah? And you're a girl, are we naming genders now?" Sprig asked.

"You're not uncomfortable sharing a room with Sprig are you?" Anne asked.

"Oh no, I've shared a room with King on occasion, it depended on where he fell asleep," Luz said. "Never mind me, I'm just being weird."

"Welcome to the club," Anne said. "Look, this is an adjustment for you, and it's understandable, for the second time in months, you found yourself stranded in a new world, that's gonna be confusing. How long were you at the Boiling Isles anyway?"

"I'm not sure, it feels like forever," Luz said. "Probably two or three months."

"Wow, that short? It feels longer for me, probably close to half a year," Anne said. "I mean you said you were on your way to summer camp, I was still in school when I got stuck."

"I used to wonder if time passed differently in the Boiling Isles than it did on Earth," Luz said. "Like a few weeks there is a few months at home."

"Oh, I don't even want to think about that possibility," Anne said. "Unless it works in our favor, like one month here is a few minutes there."

"Something about that makes little to no sense though," Sprig said. "How would time pass differently?"

"I don't know, some sciencey stuff," Luz said. "Plus I've seen it happen in TV Shows."

"TV, the greatest educator for the young mind," Anne said. "So, since we're sleeping over, got any games you wanna play?"

"I'm not used to sleepovers, so I can't really help with ideas," Luz said. "How do you do them?"

"Well, Marcy, Sasha and I loved to give really hard dares to each other, and we had to do them, otherwise our name would end up in the Book of Losers," Anne explained.

"The Book of Losers?" Luz asked.

"I won't do that with you though, that tension led to some pretty intense stuff," Anne said. "But we can still do the normal party games, and teach you our mantra."

"Mantra?" Luz asked.

"Pajamas, junk food and gossip galore, Pillow Fights, movies, and tearing up the dance floor," Anne said. "And listen up cus' this I won't repeat, never ever go to sleep."

"Oh...catchy," Luz said.

"Well go slip into something comfortable to sleep in, we'll get this sleepover underway," Anne said.

"Yeah! Sleepover!" Sprig said.

"Sleepover!" Luz cheered.

"Did someone say sleepover!?" Came Polly's voice, the girl coming downstairs with King. "We'd love to join in."

"Sure, the more the merrier, plus I'd like to get to know King more," Anne said.

"And I would like to spend a little extra time with Sprig and Polly," Luz said.

"Sweet, I can show Luz all my cool stuff too," Sprig said. "Same with you King."

"Let's get this sleepover started!" Anne excitedly stated.

"Yeah, let's," Luz seemed at peace, despite once again being in an unfamiliar place, she seemed quite happy, having made a new friend really put her in a better mood. Of course, she did have one thing on her mind still. "Hey, Anne?"

"Yeah?" Anne asked.

"About your friend Sasha, look I know before I sounded critical of her, and I'm sorry for that. Maybe I was being protective of you," Luz said. "I know just met you, but I already like you. I hate to see someone get taken advantage of."

"It's fine, you just mostly heard the worst about her, I can get into good qualities," Anne said.

"I think it's sweet how you still care for her, and I shouldn't judge too much," Luz said. "One of my best friends in the Boiling Isles hated me at first, to the point where she wanted to kill me in a magic duel."

"That sounds extreme," Anne said.

"Well after that, I took the time to get to know her, and she actually wasn't so bad, she's just trying too hard to prove herself, and now, she's one of the closest people in the world to me," Luz said, placing her hand on her left cheek. "I feel like we're really close now, and I'm hoping to keep building that bond. Once we get back to the Boiling Isles, if she comes by looking for me, she's gonna get worried that I'm not there."

"She won't have to worry for long, we'll get you back," Anne said.

"This is all really sweet, but we're missing something now," Polly said, grabbing a nearby pillow. "That being, a pillow fight to the death!"

"Sounds fun, but can we skip the 'to the death' part?" King asked.

"Fine, take this!" Polly said, whacking King.

"Oh, you're gonna get it now," King said. It wasn't long before the kids got into a quick pillow fight, releasing the last of their energy before the drifted into slumber.

At Star's castle, both she and Marco were dressed and ready for bed, as a good host, Star allowed Amity to bunk in her room while Lilith would bunk in a spare room in the castle.

Star and Amity had slipped into their PJs, but before either one turned in for the night, Marco had popped into the room, doing a little knock before entering.

"Hey Star, got Amity settled in yet?" Marco asked.

"Yeah, didn't take long, and I found PJs that fit her!" Star said, gesturing to Amity, who was wearing the exact same PJs. "We're like twins."

"Barely..." Amity said, feeling a bit embarrassed. "This feels weird, I didn't really need pajamas."

"Hey come on, you're a guest, you probably feel lost, confused, helpless," Star mentioned.

"I'm none of those things, I'm actually pretty cool with all this," Amity said. "Aside from Luz's situation, still worried about her."

"We'll find your friend, first thing tomorrow, we'll get some scissors and search around Earth for her, which hopefully won't take too long," Marco said. "First we do need to contact the Magic High Commission to keep a lookout for the witches who came to this realm, and keep a lookout for that Belos guy."

"Oh yeah, we'll have a few words for Hekapoo, since this is pretty much her fault," Star said.

"It's not like she meant to bring that Belos guy here," Marco said. "Honest mistake."

"But what was she doing in this Boiling Isles place anyway?" Star wondered.

"I'd like to know myself," Amity said.

"So our goals are stopping this Golden Guard guy, and that Kikimora woman, then find Hekapoo for answers, and find your friend Luz," Marco said.

"We also should find out what Belos wants with Toffee," Star said.

"It's weird though, doesn't that guy know Toffee is dead?" Marco asked. "Star pretty much took him out, with surprising help from Ludo."

"I think he just wants his army at the very least," Amity said.

"Honestly there's not much left," Marco said. "Since their defeat years ago, they seemed to fall apart. Closest he had to an army was Ludo and his group."

"What is that guy like anyway?" Amity asked. "Toffee I mean."

"Well, he's got a really boring personality, and he dresses like a businessman, which is funny because he's a giant, walking lizard," Marco said.

"He's also responsible for my grandmother's death," Star confirmed. "My mom had to take the throne when she was around my age because of what he did."

"Oof, that sounds hard," Amity said.

"Well my mom's a strong woman, she can handle anything," Star said.

"I bet she's already got Mewman forces searching across the land to find these two witches," Marco said.

"The sooner they're found, the better off we'll be," Amity said. "If those two are defeated, it could deal a blow to Belos, and maybe he can be taken down, so my world can live in peace."

"Is it tough living in the Boiling Isles?" Marco asked.

"It can be, depending on your Coven, or social ranking," Amity said. "My family's lucky, one we're incredibly wealthy and two, we're a strong bunch. My father's the Chief Engineer of our family business, where my mom's the CEO. We're pretty closely connected with The Emperor, so I have nothing to worry about."

"If you have nothing to worry about, then why were you being pursued by those other witches?" Marco asked.

"It's a long story, but I have my reasons," Amity said. "What about you? What brings a human to this world?"

"I was Star's personal assistant when she came to school in my world," Marco explained.

"Oh, so she went to your world first?" Amity asked

"Yeah, see I kind of accidentally started a fire here, and my mom had enough to worry about with all these monsters around," Star explained. "So I got sent to Earth to get an education, and learn a few safety tips from Marco, since he's a safety nut."

"Why does everyone call me that? I take risks!" Marco said. "Oh Amity, be careful leaning back, you'll bump into Star's wand."

"Huh?" Amity looked to see that she nearly did touch the device. "Oh, I'll move."

"Star, put that somewhere safe, we have a guest," Marco said.

"Sure thing...Safety Man," Star teases as she grabbed her wand.

"It's common sense!" Marco insisted, groaning in annoyance. "Point is, I was assigned to watch over Star, something akin to a bodyguard. With my highly advanced martial arts skills, it was no problem for a guy like me."

"Marco acts tough, but he is pretty strong," Star said as she placed her wand away.

"Well anyway, after a bunch of battles and stuff, I decided to come to Star's world, she still needed a friend and I felt I had more to offer here than back home," Marco said.

"Marco went through a not so pleasant break-up too, so he was a bit emotionally vulnerable," Star said.

"It wasn't that bad, I mean it was mutual between me and Jackie, she thought I'd be happier here," Marco said. "Wonder how she's doing? I probably shouldn't think about her but sometimes I can't help but worry."

"I told Marco to move on, I mean I think Kelly's available; she broke up with Tad...I think," Star said. "They're kind of hard to figure out."

"I'm fine Star, maybe I'm just not ready for a relationship," Marco said. "Love sucks sometimes."

"Tell me about it," Amity said.

"You got boyfriend troubles too?" Star asked.

Amity shook her head, "Not exactly."

"Relationships can be tough, I mean sometimes things get hard between me and Tom, but we make it work," Star said.

"Who's Tom?" Amity asked.

"Her boyfriend from the Demon Realm," Marco explained.

"Demon Realm!?" Amity asked in surprise. "Your boyfriend's a demon? Wait, what type of demon?"

"Uh...a demon type?" Star said.

"No, like, is he a bug, biped or beast?" Amity asked.

"I...don't know, I mean I know he's not a bug," Star said. "At least, I don't think he's a bug."

"He looks like a human teenager, except with pale skin, spikey red hair and horns," Marco explained.

"That's interesting...speaking of demons, I hope Hooty's doing alright," Amity said.

"Who's Hooty?" Star asked.

"A demon owl, he wanted to come with me and Lilith to find Luz, King Eda, but we told him to stay put just in case they came home," Amity said. "Or at least to explain the situation to a couple of our friends if they came by to visit."

"What is your relationship with Lilith anyway?" Marco asked.

"I was her protégé, her Strongest One at one point," Amity explained. "As you know, she's also Eda's sister, so she has personal stake in this too."

"Family always looks out for one another," Star said. "My mom's letting her great, great, great, great, great grandmother stay here to after she was encased in ice for decades."

"Boy is that one a tale," Marco said.

"Sounds like it," Amity said. "Hey, it's been a long day, I'd love to chat with you two some more but I'm getting a bit tired."

"That's fine, I'll leave you two girls to your sleepover," Marco said.

"Oh wait, this is a sleepover, since it's Amity's first night, why don't you join us?" Star said.

"Uh...that might be weird," Marco said.

"Weird how? I mean you and I sleep over all the time, we've even invited Janna, Jackie and StarFan13," Star explained.

"StarFan who?" Amity asked.

"A girl who was obsessed with Star to the point of mimicking her and pretending to be her," Marco explained.

Amity was understandably weirded out by that revelation, "Uh...do I even want to know the full details."

"No, you don't," Marco said. "Look I'm fine with a sleepover, but Amity needs to be as well."

"Well Amity?" Star asked.

"Sure, I don't mind," Amity said. "It would be interesting to get to know another human, until now I've only really known Luz."

"What can you tell us about Luz? Seems like you two are pretty close," Marco said.

"Yeah, you could say that," Amity said, a blush forming on her face.

"Hey, you alright? You look like you're burning up," Marco said, snapping Amity out of it.

"It's nothing, guess I felt hot for a second, I'm good," Amity said.

"Hm, this is fun, but maybe this needs a bit more," Star said, making her way to her bedroom door. "Hey! Janna!"

"No!" Marco and Amity shouted.

Elsewhere in the forest on the outskirts of Mewni, Hunter and Kikimora were walking along a path, the former looking rather annoyed.

"This is not how I expected to spend my day," Hunter lamented.

"Oh hush child, if you were a bit more competent, we wouldn't be in this mess," Kikimora said. "It is only temporary, for now it is best that we carry out the wishes of Emperor Belos, find the remains of Toffee's army and use it for our advantage."

"Assuming they exist, what if they got destroyed with him?" Hunter asked. "I don't want to question Emperor Belos but-"

"Then don't, and just do as you're told," Kikimora said. "Stay close, if you want to stay alive."

"Gee, didn't think you cared about my safety," Hunter sarcastically commented.

"Don't get the wrong idea, I'd just rather not have to tell Belos his nephew perished under my watch," Kikimora said, glancing at Hunter. "Of course, he does understand that accidents happen, try not to let such an occurrence befall you."

"Wow, so caring..." Hunter said. Of course he did not trust Kikimora, especially after her prior stunts. If only Belos knew what she had tried to do the day he got his Palisman. How he wished he had it with him, he kept it in his room for safe keeping, knowing that Belos likely wouldn't care for the idea of him having one like that. "You know, something dawned on me. Why was that Blight girl and that traitor Lilith at the Coven?"

"That is actually a good point," Kikimora said, wondering herself. "They could have been sent by The Owl Lady, but she seems more like the type to want to do things herself rather than send for help, something really is strange."

"You think they got themselves into a situation?" Hunter asked.

"Not that I'm aware of," Kikimora said. "Belos may look into it, for now let's just focus on our task, don't let yourself get distracted little boy."

"Ugh, fine," Hunter said, still treading along the path, unaware of a young frog girl who spotted the duo.

"I better tell papa." She went deep into the forest to find her family and warn them of what was to come.

The following morning in Amphibia, Hop Pop had made a breakfast spread for his family and guests. Fortunately, there was plenty of edible food that wasn't too frog based.

"This is really great Hop Pop, thank you," Luz said.

"It's no trouble at all little missy," Hop Pop said. "Now hurry and eat up, Marcy will be here soon."

"You are going to love Marcy, she's so much fun," Anne said.

"Yeah, Marcy's super cool, who knows, maybe you'll be able to come with us on our Grand Quest to power up the Calamity Box," Sprig said.

"Now Sprig, remember, these quests are highly dangerous," Hop Pop reminded.

"I'm no stranger to danger Mr. Plantar," Luz said.

"You can call me 'Hop Pop' dear," the elder frog said. "And I know you're strong with your fancy magic, but this is still a new world for you, we don't want you overwhelmed."

"The kid's fine, she's tough as nails and works really well under pressure," Eda said.

"Hey I'm all for having a girl who can literally do magic to save our butts," Polly said.

"I'd be happy to help, so how do we power up that box?" Luz asked.

"Some temples, we already did like two of them, we just need one more," Anne said.

"Anne!" Called a voice from outside.

"Oh! That's Marcy, come on Luz!" Anne said, leading her friend outside.

"So, this quest, what exactly is the danger level?" King asked.

"Well let me put it like this King," Polly said. "I, a five-year-old tadpole, am fully capable of going on these quests. Anyone older than me who can't handle it is a coward in my eyes."

"Polly..." Hop Pop scolded.

"I love this girl more and more," Eda said.

"King, if you're worried, you don't have to come, my sister's just being a pain," Sprig said.

"Am not!" Polly shot back.

"It's cool, I've been on dangerous quests before," King said.

"Well, come on, let's go greet Marcy," Sprig said, going outside with Polly and King, leaving Hop Pop to ponder some stuff.

"Hm, this has me thinking," Hop Pop said. "Is it responsible for me to allow my two grandchildren to go on these quests despite their ages? Especially after what happened to their parents years back? Plus I am allowing a young teenage girl whom I also consider a granddaughter to embark on these quests. What does that say about my parenting skills?"

"You're not alone, of course I did dangerous stuff since I was Luz's age, and while King is very young himself, he is a very capable little guy," Eda said. "So maybe it's a perspective thing."

"I guess..." Hop Pop said.

Outside Anne and Luz were standing before a giant pink bird. While this was nothing new to Anne, Luz felt pretty amazed herself.

"Such a pretty bird," Luz commented.

"Nothing like this on the Boiling Isles?" Anne asked.

"There is, just not as pretty," Luz said.

Suddenly Marcy leapt down from her parrot, "Anne!" She brought her friend in for a quick hug. "Ready for our next temple?"

"You mean our last temple," Anne said. "One more stone, baby!"

"Yeah, one more! Whoo!" Marcy cheered. "Alright, let's-"

"Uh, hello," Luz said, getting the excited girl's attention. "You must be Marcy, I'm Luz."

The new girl held her hand out to Marcy, who just stared in confusion, "Uh...hi?" She quickly shook her hand, trying to wrap her head around this. "So, gotta say, you look like a human girl."

"I am," Luz answered.

"That's...unusual since human girls aren't common in Amphibia..." Marcy's eyes widened. "Unless there's a human civilization that I didn't know about! Does King Andrias know!? Does anyone!?"

"Whoa, pump the brakes Mar-Mar," Anne said. "Luz isn't from here, she's from Earth like us."

"By way of The Boiling Isles," Luz said.

"The Boiling Isles?" Marcy asked.

"She got stranded in another world, just like we did, then when she tried making a portal to Earth, she came here instead," Anne explained. "This all happened yesterday."

"Wow, interesting," Marcy said, walking around Luz, fully inspecting her. "So, you're an Earth Girl too, and you came through a place called The Boiling Isles. Somehow that name sounds familiar, I think I read about it in a book."

"This world has information about The Boiling Isles?" Luz asked.

"There's a library about tons of parallel worlds," Marcy said, then stopped to clear her throat. "Well, it's mostly theory, nothing to be concerned about right now. I don't remember for sure if I saw Boiling Isles, I could have it confused with something else."

"So, there might be other parallel worlds," Luz said, amazed by this revelation. "I guess it makes sense, I mean if Amphibia and The Boiling Isles exist, then so could many other places! There's an infinite amount of possibilities!"

"Oh, we should totally take you to King Andrias, he'll want to meet you," Marcy said.

"Uh, Marcy, what about the Temple?" Anne asked. "We still need to charge the box, and we have to go to see King Andrias afterwards anyway, might as well get this done first."

"Yeah, you're right, priorities," Marcy said. "So, Luz, are you coming with us?"

"For sure I am," Luz said. "Is there room for three more?"

"Three?" Marcy asked.

"Me, Eda and King," Luz said, gesturing to the group. "Here they come now actually."

"Heyo," Eda said, greeting the girls. "You must be Anne's friend Marcy."

"Yeah, that's me," Marcy said, admiring what she was seeing. "So, are you Eda?"

"That's me, Eda the Owl Lady," the woman declared.

"She's a witch, like an actual witch," Luz said.

"A witch!?" Marcy shouted in disbelief, gazing at Eda. "So cool! First Maddie, now you! It's my Cynthia Coven book come to life!"

"Oh, I read that book, in fact the school I go to on the Boiling Isles is similar to the one in those books," Luz said.

"Wait, are you a witch too?" Marcy asked.

"Yeah, sort of," Luz said. "I'm a witch in training."

"She knows magic, she uses these fancy pieces of paper," Anne said.

"They're called glyphs," Luz said, pulling some out. "I can show you. You want lightning? Or fire?"

"Luz, maybe don't use fancy magic near that bird, you might startle it," Hop Pop warned.

"Oh, good point," Luz said.

"Hi," came the voice of a young Demon, getting Marcy's attention. "Name's King."

"Wow, you're so cute!" Marcy said, bending down to the creature. "What are you exactly?"

"I'm a demon, but not just any demon," King said. "I'm the King of Demons!"

"He's a little tyke I took in years ago," Eda said.

"Eda, come on, fresh start!" King lamented.

"You can be the King of Demons in my eyes if you want to be," Marcy said.

"Thanks but I don't need the pity," King lamented. "Anyway, nice to meet you. You a fan of witchcraft too?"

"Totally, I would love to be able to do magic," Marcy said. "Maddie taught me a bit about it. Uh, have any of you met Maddie?"

"Yeah, she's nice," King said.

"Super cool too, she'd fit right in at Hexside," Luz said.

"Hexside? Is that the name of your magic school?" Marcy asked.

"You got it, Hexside School of Magic and Demonics," Luz said. "Hey, if I ever get back to the Boiling Isles, you can totally come, though I might need to teach you a bit about Glyphs and stuff."

"Are you serious!? I'd love that!" Marcy said. "Oh, if this Calamity Box works, maybe we can freely travel dimensions! Earth, Amphibia and The Boiling Isles! Plus whatever else might be out there!"

"Wow, you're full of energy kid, you got that youthful vigor that can get you through anything, huh?" Eda said.

"Sure can Miss Witch lady," Macy said.

"Call me Eda," the woman replied.

"So, Eda, are you a super powerful witch?" Marcy asked.

"Well, I was, until things went to hell for me," Eda said. "But I'm getting back up there."

"We should talk more, maybe on the way over there," Marcy said, looking up. "Oh, but there probably aren't enough seats for all of us."

"It's fine, I got my Palisman," Eda said, whipping out her flying stick. "I can take Luz and King, we'll fly close to you."

"Wow, it's like a flying broom!" Marcy said. "Witch magic is awesome!"

"Can you use it Eda?" Luz asked.

"I should be able to, if you can use your Glyphs in this world, I can use my Palisman," Eda said. "Let's fly Owlbert."

Eda floated above the ground with her Palisman, once again amazing Marcy, "I want one!"

"Same here, never got mine," Luz said. "I'm a bit too undecisive."

"Let's fly then," Marcy said, hopping onto her parrot. "Onward!"

"Oh! Don't forget Frobot! He's coming too," Polly said.

"Frobot?" Luz asked.

"A Frog Robot, he's really cool," Anne said.

"This I have to see," Luz said.

It wasn't long before both groups of heroes took to the skies, on their way to the third and final temple, the key to them hopefully returning home.

Meanwhile, another girl was on her way to that same temple, joined by her own mentor. "Hurry up Grime, I don't want to miss them."

"We'll get there in due time, Sasha," Grime said. "Soon you will have your reunion with Anne and Marcy, and we shall commence the next part of our plan."

"Can't wait," Sasha said, deviously making her way through the roads, eager for her reunion.
