Multiverse Gacha

Chapter 441: [439] Demon Lance

Despite her reluctance, Sayaka Kirasaka still performed her duties as a maid diligently.

Of course, the only noticeable shortcoming was that while most maids served with a gentle smile, she did so through gritted teeth.

It was evident that the Lion King Organization had given her strict orders; otherwise, she wouldn't be acting this way. Her feelings toward August were undoubtedly negative.

August, however, paid no attention to it. No matter how much she resisted, she couldn't stir up any trouble.

On this particular day, in the office, August sat comfortably, savoring the tea and snacks served by Sayaka.

From a distance, Sayaka's glare could have burned a hole through him. Meanwhile, Yukina Himeragi had gone to class, and Natsuki Minamiya was also busy with her lectures.

This left only August and Sayaka in the room, making it an excruciatingly long day for her.

"Hmm? What's that?" Sayaka muttered as she glanced out the window.

Curious, August followed her gaze. Outside, on a small island near the school building, there were two women and one man.

The man had short silver hair, none other than Kojou Akatsuki. As for the two women, August didn't recognize them, but judging from Sayaka's reaction, she clearly did.

"Someone you know?" August asked.

"Not exactly. The only one I truly know well from the Lion King Organization is Yukina," Sayaka replied.

"They're moving. So those two are also Lion King Organization's 'bridal candidates' sent to Kojou?"

"What? Bridal candidates? Don't tarnish our reputation!"

"Come on now. As a Shamanic War Dancer, you should be aware of these things. Or are you as naive as Yukina? I doubt it. You should know much more than her."

"I..." Sayaka's expression shifted but eventually fell into silence.

Compared to Yukina, Sayaka had a far more sensitive personality. Her past experiences had left deep scars that she had yet to overcome.

It was precisely because she had endured darkness that she could perceive things more keenly.

Yet she had no choice but to obey. As a Shamanic War Dancer trained by the Lion King Organization, submission was her only path.

"Look at it this way: the Lion King Organization practically delivered you two to me on a silver platter, personally escorted by the Three Saints themselves. And over there, they're doing the same thing, sending a Sword Shaman and a Shamanic War Dancer to Kojou."

"Who exactly is he?"

"The Fourth Primogenitor. Though for now, he's just an unawakened fledgling."

"The most powerful vampire? Him?"

"Yes, that's him."

Sayaka scrutinized Kojou's face below, and for some reason, she instinctively disliked him.

"Do you know those two?" August asked.

"Yes, they were the previous generation's Sword Shaman and Shamanic War Dancer, just like me and Yukina now."

"Ah, so the Organization has quite a few 'bridal candidates' lined up."

"Hmph, Yukina and I are the best among them," Sayaka retorted proudly.

"That much is true. The wielders of the Type-7 Assault Demon Spear and the Type-6 Heavy Demon Bow—both watching over me. If you two weren't exceptional, you wouldn't be here."

August's words made Sayaka's expression shift slightly before she regained her composure.

There was nothing surprising about his deduction. She and Yukina were sent here not just to monitor him but also to gather intel on him.

Even if the chances of success were slim, any information gained was valuable.

The reason was simple—August was too much of an enigma. Globally, the Lion King Organization had no leads on his background. It was as if he had emerged from thin air.

An unknown enemy was always the most terrifying. To eliminate that uncertainty, she and Yukina had been dispatched here.

"Ugh! How shameless!"

August turned his head, sipping his tea, when Sayaka suddenly exclaimed in outrage.

Looking down, August smirked. Well, well... Kojou was finally making his move.

In the open, with no concern for his surroundings, Kojou lifted a girl's shirt and leaned in, ready to suck her blood.

Sayaka, who already harbored a strong aversion to men, was beyond furious. Doing such a thing in public was utterly disgraceful to her.

Boom!

A surge of magic erupted from Kojou, radiating immense power.

Even at this distance, August could feel the pulsating energy. It was clear—Kojou's first bloodsucking had awakened his first Familiar, and the power it emitted was truly remarkable.

In the middle school section, Yukina and Kanon Kanase were also taken aback by the surge.

Kanon was relatively calm, as she had grown accustomed to such things with August's support. However, Yukina was shocked by the sheer magnitude of the magical energy.

Without hesitation, she dashed out of her classroom, heading straight for the source of the power.

...

"Kojou, will you stop already? How much are you planning to drink?"

"Huh?"

Hearing Shio Hikawa's voice, Akatsuki finally snapped out of the euphoric trance brought on by blood-drinking.

For any vampire, the act of feeding is an immense pleasure, and for a novice like Kojou, it was even more intoxicating.

"It's fine, Shio."

Yukina Himeragi responded with a gentle smile, her delicate demeanor stirring Kojou's already restless thoughts.

Yukina Himeragi was originally one of the candidates assigned to monitor August. However, due to her incompatibility with the "Schneewalzer" and the fact that she was not an orphan, she was ultimately not selected. Instead, she was reassigned as a spirit medium for the Fourth Progenitor, Kojou Akatsuki.

Like Yukina Himeragi, she was also a Sword Shaman from the Lion King Organization, although she did not possess Yukina's exceptional skills.

Shio Hikawa, Yukina's partner and a Shamanic War Dancer of the Lion King Organization, shared a similar relationship with Yukina as Sayaka Kirasaka did with her. The two of them were the closest of teammates.

With the fresh intake of blood, the Familiar within Akatsuki's body began to stir.

"The Fourth Progenitor... Are you really planning to release a Familiar here?"

At that moment, Yukina Himeragi appeared, gripping her spear tightly—the Schneewalzer, a Type-7 Assault Demon Lance.

On the other side, both Akatsuki and the two girls with him were momentarily stunned by her sudden arrival.
