Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Wanted
"397... 398... 399... 400!"
Salazar collapsed onto the ground, panting and drenched in sweat after finishing a workout that ended with 400 sit-ups. He stared up at the sky, his chest rising and falling heavily.
Suddenly, Kaina appeared in his field of vision, looking down at him with her hands on her knees and an amused smile on her face.
"Done already?"
"I-I think so..." he muttered as he sat up with some difficulty. Dressed in just his pants and boots, his upper body was bare. One of the female crew members handed him a towel with a smile, which he returned with a grateful one of his own.
"You really took the old man's training to the letter, huh..." Kaina said with one hand on her hip, a bit amused.
"Silver Rayleigh gave me a specialized training to improve my Haki. I can't waste that opportunity," he replied with a tired smile while wiping the sweat from his face, as the purple-haired woman rolled her eyes.
"You clearly admire him a lot... Though after reading that book, I understand a lot more now," she sighed, sitting on the staircase that led up to the helm, right in front of Salazar.
"Good thing I managed to get it. Explaining everything to you would've been a pain," he joked, crossing his arms, while she narrowed her eyes at him in mild annoyance.
But instead of complaining, she just shrugged and rested her elbows on her knees, placing her head in her hands as she gazed up at the sky.
"Do you have any idea where we're going now?" she asked without looking at him, as Salazar scratched his head with irritation.
"Well... There are a few log poses and eternal poses on the ship, pointing to certain islands. But it's hard to pick a destination when you're a runaway slave. To the World Government, we're worse than pirates right now," he sighed, tired and unsure about what to do or where to go next.
"So now I'm a pirate. Not exactly how I pictured spending my days after prison," Kaina joked lightly, then frowned in confusion and pointed to the sky.
"Is that... a seagull with a bag?"
"Huh?" he said, following her finger. Sure enough, there was a bird flying with a mailbag. After observing it for a moment, he patted his pockets and found a coin.
Grinning, he looked up and let out a sharp whistle while raising his hand, prompting Kaina to raise an eyebrow in confusion.
The bird immediately descended, landing on a nearby wooden beam. Salazar handed it the coin, and the bird nodded, dropping off a thick newspaper before flying away.
"What the hell just happened?" Kaina asked, more confused than anything, while Salazar chuckled.
"It's a news bird. Like the sea's postman."
"This world just keeps getting weirder and weirder..."
"Do you realize you survived a man with powers from a cursed fruit that makes you sink in water?"
"..."
"Yeah, that's what I thought," he smirked, opening the newspaper and scanning its contents, his expression shifting through different emotions. Kaina watched curiously.
"What does it say?"
"That you're very pretty."
"You wanna die?"
"It really says that, look," he said, turning the paper to show her. There was a photo of her mid-shot, with her arm transformed into a rifle and a focused expression on her face. The headline referred to her as a "deadly beauty."
Kaina stared blankly at the image, then sighed in defeat.
"Whatever..."
"If it helps, they're calling you a highly dangerous fugitive and companion of the most wanted criminal right now—Salazar the Preacher," he added, pointing to his own photo, where he appeared with his fist pressed to his chest, over his heart, his eyes burning red with fierce determination.
"Preacher, huh? Kinda suits you. You are good at giving speeches."
"I'm not sold on it. I'd prefer something like 'The Calamity' or 'The Living Disaster.' Maybe I'm not causing as much chaos as I thought," he said, dissatisfied with his title. Kaina just shook her head, amused.
"You're a wanted criminal and you're worried about your nickname?"
"Well yeah, obviously," he replied like it was the most normal thing in the world, causing Kaina to lower her head in exasperation.
"You're impossible."
"Whatever you say," he waved dismissively and walked away, wanting to be alone while checking the interface in front of his eyes.

Global Equipment Recognition (G.E.R.): [+600,000]
[Shop] [Inventory] [Recruitment Roulette: 72 hours]
"Escaping Mariejois gave me a decent rep, huh..." he smirked sideways, looking at the points he'd earned and the countdown until his next roulette spin to access another world.
"Open the shop."
[Understood...]
Two windows opened: one labeled One Piece, the other My Hero Academia.
"So this is what 'Unlocked Shop' meant, huh..." he grinned, leaning against the ship's railing as he selected the newly available option, revealing countless items.
There was everything—guns, cuffs, advanced tech—but something caught his eye.
"Quirks?" he raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
He scrolled through them. There were all kinds: mutants, transformation types, elementals...
Even Todoroki's hot-and-cold, Uraraka's gravity, Mina's acid, and Dark Shadow.
"All of this... is surprisingly cheap..." he muttered, noting most quirks cost between 30,000 and 50,000 points. The strongest ones, like One For All, cost around 800,000.
"Nothing I'm interested in right now but... huh?" He noticed a small, multicolored roulette icon in the corner. Clicking it opened a new window that made his eyes roll.
"A gacha... this system has a serious obsession with randomness."
(N/A: I like gacha 7u7)
Scratching his head in mild frustration, he read the descriptions.
Apparently, he could buy spins to obtain items of a specific rarity. There were bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, and special tiers—each more expensive than the last, but all offering the chance to pull something much better and cheaper than in the regular shop.
"Interesting... sounds good." He scrolled for a while, accidentally selecting an item. Trying to back out, he noticed a curious option:
"Give as gift..." he read aloud. Selecting it, he saw a list of companions—but only Kaina was available.
"Looks like I can't just upgrade myself, but also the people I recruit from other worlds..." he grinned, closing the window and switching from the MHA shop to the One Piece shop.
"Everything here... is way more expensive..." he muttered, sighing. While the selection was vast, prices were far higher than in MHA.
(Just unlocking basic Observation Haki costs 1 million. And that's just the starting level.)
Frowning, he noticed a glowing red icon and clicked it, curious.
[Opening Mission Panel...]
"Hmm?"
[✓ Completed Missions!]
Recruit Lady Nagant = 40,000
Unlock MHA Shop = 30,000
Finish recruitment early = 30,000
Total Reward: 100,000 G.E.R.
[✓ Hidden Missions Completed!]
Escape from Mariejois
Recruit freed slaves
Form your own crew
Defeat a CP0 agent
Total Reward: 400,000 G.E.R.
"Missions...? So that's why I have so many points?" he said aloud, scanning the full list. The missions gave him 500,000 total, and he assumed his reputation as the liberator of slaves in Mariejois gave him another 100,000—pretty generous.
"I thought they'd be easy to get, but this was a special case. I guess I'll have to make this last. Although..." He glanced at his crew. Everyone still wore tattered Mariejois clothes. Food was running low after a week of drifting aimlessly, and they had two ships with 1,500 people each.
"If we don't find an island soon, things are gonna get messy..."
"Rayleigh did say we could go to Sabaody... but I don't want to use that card too soon. That'd be pushing it," he muttered, scratching his head, remembering how much the old pirate had already done to save them.
"Captain! Look at this!"
Raising an eyebrow, he turned toward a group of crewmates who were calling him with concern. Kaina walked over too, having also been summoned.
When they reached the group, everyone stepped aside, revealing posters with photos of Salazar and Kaina—wanted posters.
"They're crucifying us already?" he joked, arms crossed, as he looked at the posters. Kaina, meanwhile, stared blankly at the bounty amounts.
"There are too many zeros..."
WANTED
Salazar Walker
"The Preacher"
Dead or Alive
800,000,000 Berries
WANTED
Kaina Tsutsumi
"Lady Death"
Dead or Alive
500,000,000 Berries
"How do they know our names?" Kaina asked, puzzled, as Salazar shrugged.
"No idea. I don't remember ever saying my last name."
"Me neither... Your surname is Walker?" she raised an eyebrow playfully, looking at him. He grinned and crossed his arms.
"That's right. Sumi~"
"Call me that again and I'll throw you overboard."
"Whatever you say," he laughed while the crew sweat-dropped, watching their captain and vice-captain/sniper argue over surnames instead of worrying about the ridiculously high bounties on their heads.
---
After a while of bickering, Salazar approached the ship's temporary helmsman and navigator—a former pirate captain and a Fishman, respectively. Both were standing at the helm, steering the ship as best they could.
Upon seeing him, they straightened up and spoke in unison:
—"Captain!"
Their voices held no fear or doubt—just respect and admiration. Salazar raised his hand to ease their tension.
—"Relax, I just came to give you this. We've got a course now," —he said, pulling an Eternal Pose from his pocket and lifting it toward them.
The Fishman navigator took it and widened his eyes at the name etched on the compass.
—"Where are we heading, Captain?" —he asked, glancing back up.
—"We're heading to Jaya. We'll restock there and buy what we need. Once we're stable… we'll start spreading chaos across the seas. Sound fun?" —he said with a mischievous grin, prompting the two men to grin back excitedly.
—"Of course, Captain!"
—"We'll set sail for Jaya right away!"
—"Great. I'm counting on you guys. Oh, and don't forget to take shifts, alright? You know the rules."
—"Yes, sir! Eat, work, rest... and also play!" —they shouted together, laughing at the end. Salazar laughed with them.
> Those teachings came from a very wise man.
