Chapter 134: To Knowledge and Power (7)

[SimplyInvincible is silent for a moment.]

[SimplyInvincible reaches out a hand towards Adam.]

As the notification flickered across his blurred vision...

Adam felt something change around him.

His surroundings suddenly started twisting itself...

For a brief moment, the bloodstained arena vanished.

In its place was a dark, endless space lit by countless floating rectangles of light..

Like massive windows hanging in the void.

Each light felt like an eye staring down at him, piercing through his flesh and soul.

Adam tried to look directly at them.

But the moment his eyes focused...

A suffocating dread clawed at his chest, squeezing his heart until it threatened to stop.

He quickly tore his gaze away, breathing heavily.

But then—

Above him, among the countless glowing rectangles, one moved closer.

It was small.

Dim.

Warm.

Unlike the others, its light didn't feel suffocating.

It felt… inviting.

Adam's eyes widened as he saw a shadow within it shift.

Slowly… a hand emerged from the screen.

A human hand...

It reached out towards him through the flickering light.

His breath caught in his throat.

Then, a quiet male voice drifted from the other side. It was calm, deep, and strangely reassuring.

"I'll let you borrow it."

A pulse of bright golden light surged from the hand, wrapping around Adam's chest like a warm embrace.

[You have acquired shared authority over the Authority of Invincibility.]

A rush of strength filled Adam's veins.

It felt as if countless layers of gold, steel, stone, and unbreakable materials wrapped around his flesh and bones, fusing into his very soul.

The weight of it was overwhelming… yet comforting.

Then, the voice spoke again, sounding almost amused.

"Although it's hard to keep up with your story because of the infrequent updates, I do quite enjoy it."

Adam didn't quite understand the meaning behind those words.

But deep inside, he felt it again... that subtle sense of distance.

As if the strange viewers who sent him gifts and powers weren't merely "watching" him.

They knew something far beyond what any of the normal viewers ever could.

Quietly, Adam asked,

"…A world without the Tower of Yxthar… how is it?"

There was no proof for his suspicions...

But Adam felt that these strange viewers came from the same place as that [???] usernamed viewer.

The one who had sent him back in time.

A world without the Tower's existence… a world untouched by its horrors.

To him, it sounded like heaven.

For a moment, the male voice went silent.

Then, it replied softly.

"To you, it probably sounds like heaven."

"But to us… and to many others… it is dread."

Adam frowned, feeling the golden energy pulsing quietly in his chest as he listened.

"Dread?"

He asked.

There was a faint chuckle from the other side.

"Yes. The dread of boredom. The dread of safety that traps us in a life with no real meaning. Without death, there is no life. Without danger, there is no choice worth making."

Adam lowered his head slightly, shadows covering his eyes.

"With the powers and items you strange viewers possess… what's there to be afraid of?"

For a while, the other side remained quiet.

Then, the voice spoke again.

This time, there was no amusement.

Only a calm, hollow truth.

"We are fakes."

Adam's breath hitched slightly.

The voice continued.

"We witness countless worlds die. We see them recreated, rewritten, discontinued, ended, and birthed anew."

"But we… we cannot change them. We cannot touch them. Only the hands that shape those worlds can do that."

"All we can do… is watch."

There was a long, heavy silence before the voice spoke one last time.

"We are worse than the cowardly spectators that Xel'Shaar has mentioned... much worse."

"…We are nothing but shadows of shadows. Fakers, unable to ever become real."

The warmth of the golden light began to fade slightly, leaving behind only the cold, silent void between their worlds.

Then, the voice fell silent.

...

Adam's vision snapped back to reality.

The scene hadn't changed.

His siblings still writhed in pain on the ground while Selena and Celestia scanned the area for him.

Celestia's head jerked toward Adam's position.

"Over there!"

Before he could react, dozens of pale hands erupted from the earth beneath him, fingers attempting to grasp at his ankles.

Adam's blood ignited with energy as he surged forward, closing the distance between them.

"As I decree, cease your movement!"

Selena commanded, her voice vibrating with unnatural power.

Adam's muscles locked momentarily, his steps slowing...

But for some reason it did not stop!

[Authority of Invincibility Activated]

The system message flashed as Adam's body thrummed with golden energy.

To be invincible meant more than just durability...

It meant being an unstoppable force that defied all restrictions.

Selena's eyes widened when her command failed.

She opened up her hands as she clasped them together.

A wave of primal terror crashed into Adam's mind...

The crushing weight of absolute power demanding submission.

For half a second, fear seemed to grow inside..

Then, it dissipated!

Invincibility didn't just protect the body, it shielded the mind!

The fear evaporated like morning fog.

Selena stumbled back, genuine shock twisting her features.

"Impossible-"

Adam didn't give her time to react.

Twin tendrils of blood lashed from his arms like crimson whips, slicing toward Selena's throat.

Celestia moved to intercept, but Raiden's weak voice cut through the chaos:

"The essence… of movement… within Celestia Veyne… is locked!"

Celestia's body froze mid-step. Her omnipresence flickered out like a dying candle.

BOOM!

The ground where she stood exploded as Adam's blood-whips struck, tearing apart stone and flesh alike.

Selena managed to dodge, but one tendril grazed her cheek, leaving a thin, deep line of blood.

Selena's calm expression cracked for the first time.

Her eyes darkened as she raised her hand, blood dripping down her pale face.

"…Kill him."

Her quiet words carried absolute command.

A sudden roar split the air as a white-boned dragon descended from above.

Its skeletal wings spread wide, shadows stretching over the battlefield as it dove towards Adam, its mouth opening wide with razor sharp bone teeth.

Adam tensed.

He felt that being bitten by this dragon meant something bad!

[Surreal Creation].

Darkness enveloped his form as his body blurred into flickering shadows.

Footsteps sounded out in every direction, confusing the dragon.

It snapped its jaw shut again and again, crushing only illusions and empty space.

Adam saw his chance.

He prepared to launch a counterattack, but—

From the corner of his vision, he saw it.

A pale arm reaching out towards him.

Before he could dodge, a soft hand touched his chest.

BOOM!

An explosion ripped through his body.

His vision spun as he was flung backwards, stone shattering beneath him.

Blood spurted from his back like jets, twisting midair into spider-like legs that grabbed the ground and steadied his body before he could crash.

In one smooth movement, the blood legs shifted and morphed into wings.

With a powerful flap, Adam soared into the sky, rising above the battlefield.

His eyes narrowed as blood swirled around his body like a crimson storm.

[Crimson Dominion]. [Surreal Creation].

The sky darkened as countless blood spears formed above him.

And then—

They fell.

Thousands of blood spears rained down onto the battlefield like a wrathful god's punishment.

Some vanished mid-air, illusions that misled the enemy.

But the real ones struck true, tearing through stone and flesh alike, leaving Selena and Celestia momentarily stunned and bloodied under the endless barrage.

Dust and smoke billowed upward, hiding Adam's silhouette.

But he wasn't done.

Through the haze, Celestia tried to move again.

She reached her hand out, attempting to 'close the distance' instantly between them—

But Adam opened his palm towards her.

[Temporary Erasure].

Celestia's eyes widened as she felt it...

Her very existence was being wiped away, her body fading into static flickers!

'What… is this power…?'

She tried to resist, but there was nothing to resist against.

Her form dissolved into nothingness, trapped within the temporary erasure.

Adam's gaze turned cold and sharp.

He knew it wouldn't hold her for long.

A blood-red crown emerged above his head, pulsing with dark light as he dashed straight towards Selena.

Selena's eyes narrowed as she spoke quietly.

"As I decree… your own shadow shall imprison you."

Immediately, Adam felt it.

His shadow grew heavy, anchoring him down.

It did not feel like the usual magic skills that halted and slowed down movement...

Instead, it felt as if his very self, his own existence, was holding him back.

His muscles trembled under the suffocating pressure.

But then—

Snap.

The faint sound of strings breaking rang out.

The shadow beneath Adam's feet detached from him, splitting away like a cut chain.

[Authority of Disconnection].

He had severed his connection to his own shadow.

Light returned to his eyes as he uttered a quiet word.

[Repent].

Selena, standing several meters away, froze.

Deep wounds ripped open across her chest and arms as if invisible blades had slashed her body apart.

Blood spilled down her pristine white robes, staining them crimson.

She staggered back, her lips parting.

"As I decree—"

But her words were cut off.

A sudden spear pierced straight through her throat.

Her eyes widened in shock as blood bubbled at her lips.

Behind her, Miya Codranel stood with trembling legs, her hand still outstretched from throwing the spear.

Her eyes burned with fierce, desperate resolve despite her tears.
