Chapter 18
Chapter 18: A Glimmer Of Hope
Seeing that everyone had dispersed, Wang Mu Tuo and Wang Daxia bid farewell to Mammoth and left together.
It was near noon. Looking from the hillside, nearly a hundred yurts of various sizes in the tribe formed a large irregular circle, with a relatively flat square exposed in the middle.
At this time, many tribesmen set up more than a dozen bonfires to roast food on the square. There were hunted beasts, livestock raised in the tribe, and fresh big fish. It was awesome to have tasteful food from beasts of the sky, the ones running on the ground, swimming in the water.
From time to time, there were bursts of laughter in the square, and there were traces of meaty aroma, which was inviting.
Looking at the tribe in front of them that they had built by themselves, Wang Mu Tuo and his wife, Wang Daxia, were full of emotion in their hearts. Who could have imagined that in just a few years, the Ironwood tribe could grow from just a dozen people to a tribe of two to three hundred people now?
What’s even more gratifying was that the development of the tribe had been advancing by leaps and bounds in the past two years. Now, the clan would form a powerful cannon team. It was conceivable that the ironwood tribe in the future would definitely become a large tribe of thousands or tens of thousands of people, and it would be a very powerful tribe.
And all of this, or a lot of this, was due to their dear son Wang Wei. Thinking of their son, the faces of the husband and wife were full of happy smiles.
.....
Wang Mu Tuo couldn’t help asking softly. “Daxia, I don’t know what happened to your investigation of Wei’er’s body today?”
“You may be surprised after hearing this.” Wang Daxia smiled mysteriously. “After investigation by my eldest brother and I, we found that Wei has indeed been practicing a strangely incredible cultivation technique for the past two years.”
“Oh?” Wang Mu Tuo suddenly smiled. “What kind of technique can make you and Mammoth think it’s incredible?”
Wang Daxia couldn’t help sighing. “Maybe we didn’t monitor Wei’er enough before. You and I already know that Wei’er hides in the yurt every morning and night to practice alone, but it is just a curious act of thinking that Wei is young. Today, my eldest brother and I found out that Wei’re’s unremitting training is real.”
Wang Mu Tuo couldn’t help being shocked when he heard this. “What? You mean, Wei’er is really a cultivator?”
“Yes.” Wang Daxia nodded and said, “At the beginning, I was not sure myself. After exploring with the eldest brother, we found out that although Wei’er practices every day when the black and white heavens alternated, it did not cause harm to his body. On the contrary...”
Wang Daxia glanced at Wang Mu Tuo, her eyes couldn’t help showing a trace of sadness, she sighed, and said, “You were very enchanting on this Sacred Spirit Continent with your talent back then. You were a genius among cultivators. Do you know how much Wei’s spiritual power is now?”
Wang Mu Tuo asked with a hint of doubt. “Oh? How much is it?”
Wang Daxia couldn’t help smiling, and said proudly. “According to the eldest brother’s investigation, he said that Wei’er’s current innate spiritual power should have reached more than sixty spirit loops.” At this point, Wang Daxia couldn’t help but feel a little bit emotional.
After listening to Wang Mu Tuo, he suddenly asked in surprise. “What? More than sixty soul loops?”
Wang Daxia affirmed. “Yes, it’s more than sixty loops. I think you were seventy when your spiritual power awakened. You were already at the peak of existence on the mainland. Now, Wei is only four years old. If we wait until Wei’er is eight years old, his innate spiritual power will surely shock the entire continent.”
Wang Mu Tuo groaned for a long while, and couldn’t help sighing excitedly. “Haha, God’s will. It seems that this Ironwood clan could survive the world after all. Thinking of my Wang clan, continuing to live in this place, I finally look forward with a glimmer of hope. Sure enough, there are eyes in the sky.”
There seemed to be tears on Wang Mu Tuo’s resolute face at this time. Gao Jiao held his head, closed his eyes tightly, and two heroic tears fell tragically.
There was a moment of silence, but Wang Mu Tuo sighed in excitement. “Oh. Wang Daxia, I know I’ve caused you pain. How could you suffer such hardship? If it weren’t for that incident a few years ago...”
Wang Daxia couldn’t help holding Wang Mu Tuo’s hand and talking gently. “Your wife is no longer sad. We are lucky to survive that catastrophe. Don’t you think this kind of free life is very good now?” Wang Daxia leaned on Wang Mu Tuo’s chest and murmured. “With so many members of our clan now, and Wei’er to accompany us every day, I’m very satisfied.”
Wang Mu Tuo hugged Wang Daxia’s shoulders and smelled the light fragrance of her hair. He sighed and said, “Yes, with you by my side, and the children that we have, what more can your husband ask for?”
For a long time, Wang Daxia couldn’t help looking back and murmured. “By the way, my husband, as you suggested, I have decided to let Wei move to live with my eldest brother. It’s true that he can practice with peace of mind there. And secondly, with the protection of elder brother, we can be rest assured.”
Wang Mu Tuo nodded, and said, “Well, it’s up to you to arrange everything. Alas, if it weren’t for that matter long time ago, we wouldn’t be bothering Mammoth now.”
Wang Mu Tuo couldn’t help but raised his head and looked at the infinite land in the distance. His eyes are full of memories and yearning.
***
Three years later.
Somewhere on the edge of a large forest. Unlike other places, there were no chain mountains. Looking around, there was an endless grassland outside the forest.
In the grassland, a large river with a width of one hundred meters winds and twists by, and the river water was leisurely gentle. In the loop, there were countless large and small ponds and lakes.
After a thunderstorm the previous night, there were still rain drizzles and dew in the early morning, with an incomparably fresh and peaceful beauty. Green vegetation, rain and dew condensation marks.
From a distance, the morning mist in the Hetao was misty, and strands linger above the water. Amidst the clouds and mist, one could see a long pole of twenty to thirty meters tall standing majestically, almost faintly visible, obviously incompatible with this natural beauty.
The long rod was cast from pig iron and was as thick as an arm. One end was tapered, and the tip points straight to the blue sky. The other end was inserted in a pond with a radius of hundred meters.
At this time, the pond was full of people, men and women, old and young. One could see that these people were all dressed in animal skins and coarse cloth. Their complexion was slightly dark, some with feathers on their heads, and some with disheveled heads. They were obviously natives of the tribe.
What was strange was that so many people surround the pond, but they rarely spoke. The surrounding area was very quiet. One could hear the sound of the wind blowing the grass and the gurgling water.
