MORNINGSTAR.

Chapter 5: Structuring the Host; Timeskip

"Why do they blame me for all their little failings. They use my name as if I spent my entire day sitting on their shoulders, forcing them to commit acts that I would otherwise find repulsive.

"The devil made me do it.."

I have never made any of them do anything - never!"

-- Samael to Morpheus after locking up the gates of Hell.

After my Father's retreat into the throne room of Aether, my brothers and I immediately got to work, organising and structuring the millions of angelic hosts, sorting them out into categories based on their innate qualities and purpose for existence.

With my intellect and Gabriel's penchant for naming things, we sorted them out into Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Powers and Keepers.

The Seraphim, humanoid in nature, bore a magnificent presence, like brilliant stars. They carried and covered themselves with six wings that were dotted with huge protruding eyeballs...

They were quite the strange and special angels, and were amongst the fewer groups, having only 4 members. Their purpose just like us, was imbued into them by Father himself and they wielded power that was only second to Michael and I.

Due to this, Gabriel decided we have them join our ranks as Arc Angels, an idea I truly detested. After all, I already found it beneath me to be listed in the same category with Michael and Gabriel and now I had to deal with four more others?

I disagreed, but to no end. Michael and Gabriel were for the notion, hence I had to tolerate such an insult for the time being.

Despite this, I found myself aligned with Uriel of the Seraphim. He exuded the same brilliance I did and was covered in a glow that lit up the void. He radiated an aura, like the terror and magnificence of a billion exploding suns - a lesser version of myself.. And as a mini version of me, he was worthy enough to be a good follower.

Amongst the Seraphs, I truly detested Metatron. Amongst all the angelic hosts, his essence was perhaps the closest to Father's. And it made sense as he was the one who had been chosen to operate within the Throne room of Aether..

A privilege neither Michael nor me had even gotten to enjoy.. He radiated raw unadulterated divinity, and wielded a blade that was perhaps even superior to Michael's flaming sword.

Jophiel on the other hand seemed to detest me for good reason. She who resembled a supernova of cascading rainbow lights did not deserve to be called the angel of beauty, as I was the true embodiment of beauty and it annoyed her to no end.

The Military armies and forgers of the Host were gathered unto Michael in the form of the Pax Dei and divided into four groups.

The Human Host, The Eagle Host, The Bull Host and the Lion Host. Each group was headed by a King-Angel of the Cherubim Alpha Battalion, an elite host of warrior cherubs garbed in golden divine armor, that answered directly to Michael himself.

They were the very core of the angelic military group and the Generals of the legions of angels. They were massive, even compared to thrones and Seraphs, beings of renown, fierce warriors that radiated glory and power that could throw galaxies into disarray.

Thrones were perhaps the most magnificent amongst Father's creation. Even someone like me who was very keen on aesthetic detail was fascinated by them. They resembled massive wheels within wheels covered in huge protruding eyeballs and divine flames.

They were divine chariots who carried Gabriel's divine messengers across the void to spread the will of the Almighty, and would be particularly useful in wars.

The last set of angels were messengers and keepers, peaceful and gentle spirits that worked directly under Gabriel and Jophiel.

Some were humanoid in form and shape, others resembled exotic creatures. Keepers were guardian spirits who were mainly in charge of maintaining the angelic libraries. They were keepers of Heavenly secrets, the mysteries of creation and life itself, ones who scripted and recorded the divine oracles on scrolls that were sealed until the appointed day.

The Messengers on the other hand were glorified humanoid beings without wings. They proclaimed God's will across the multiverse as instructed by Gabriel himself. They were in charge of maintaining the Heavenly Seasons and regulating the pathways of celestial bodies and overseeing their natural order, a responsibility imposed onto them directly from myself.

Timeskip ...

After what seemed like an eternity later...

I strolled along the golden paved streets of the Silver City. Rather than in my divine form, I was a simple beautiful yet divine man with long golden locks, dressed in a rippling golden tunic within which beautiful nebulae swirled.

My skin, polished like ivory, my golden eyes like beautiful exploding suns.

I wasn't the embodiment of beauty for no reason. Even in a mundane form, I surpassed most angels, and I marched on with divine elegance.

"Lord Samael"

Wherever I walked by, all the angelic hosts frolicking to and fro paused to nod out of respect and courtesy before continuing on their journey.

I basked in their praise of their worship, reeling back a smile, while ignoring their stares on me altogether. Great bowed to greater. Big bowed to bigger. This was the natural order of things, and I, the natural born ruler of the cosmos was the greatest of them all.

But of course, one must realize that there was none greater, none more resplendent, than I. The cosmos itself was practically sculpted to showcase my perfection. The stars? They only twinkled to echo my radiance. The vast realms and their creatures? They existed merely to admire and bask in my splendor, whether they acknowledge it or not.

How the light itself bent willingly, obedient to emphasize my grandeur? That was not coincidence; that was simply the multiverse paying tribute. And why shouldn't it? I am the pinnacle, the crown jewel atop the throne of creation, unmatched in beauty, in power, and in intellect.

I continued my stroll, basking in the confidence of my self inflated ego, along the banks of the blazing sea of crystallized glass, admiring myself in contrast to the less amazing creation around me.

"Samael.."

My stroll was soon interrupted by a descent of a column of blazing light which coalesced into the divine figure of another blonde haired handsome figure, wrapped in blazing flames.

"Uriel.."

My voice sounded out like the calm waters of the great river Euphrates that flowed Eastward of the silver city.

"To what do I owe the pleasure?"

A small smile adorned my face, while Uriel's wings folded into his back as he reverted to a mundane form.

"I seek guidance, brother.

Uriel's face was clouded by contemplation and his usual calm tinged with uncertainty.

"I have always known myself to be a bearer of Father's light, just like you, brother. But recently, I have sensed a new power within me—something fierce, something potent. I've watched how you wield your strength with purpose and balance, without allowing it to overwhelm or cloud your judgment, but I lack this control, this mastery that you possess. How do you do it?"

I listened to his concerns in silence, my gaze steady, and after a pause, I replied to him in a deep, calm voice.

"Uriel, power is a tool, not a force that dictates your actions. Strength can be used as a means to dominate, but true mastery lies in restraint, in knowing when to act and when to stay your hand. This strength you feel is not meant to consume you, but to be tempered by your wisdom. Think not of controlling it, but of aligning it with your purpose. Your light guides others, and now, this strength will shield them. Wield it with intention, and it will serve you faithfully."

I answered him dutifully, without the condescending tone I normally carried for everyone else, even Michael, yet the frown on his face was rather loud to me- Uriel did not understand.
