Chapter 14: Facing off against Gaea

"If God lived on Earth, his windows of his abode would've been shattered by humanity's incessant screams and plea for help.."

Right then and there, a figure slowly materialized from the divine forces, and the moment she did, nature around seemed to bloom in response to her arrival.

Trees grew taller and bloomed with even more beautiful flowers, the grass grew taller, the mountains, wider. Even the air felt fresher than before.

She was clothed in a rippling green tunic, that flowed behind her. Her head full of black hair was let down behind her, her skin a shade darker than usual, and her eyes, like a swirling cosmos. An utterly breathtaking picturesque figure, yet for a moment there, her brows knit together in a frown as her gaze fell on Death and I.

"Ah Samael. It's been a few millenia, hasn't it? It would seem you still are Heaven's bright son bound by laws older than time itself."

She murmured, her tone lilting with a hint of irony. "So many rules to uphold, so many chains gilded with duty and obedience. Tell me, do they weigh upon you , or did the radiance of your wings help you forget their weight?"

Gaea's gaze held a glimmer of mischief as she regarded me. Her voice flowed softly, like the rustling of leaves in a breeze, yet beneath it lay an edge of dry amusement, and it left a dry taste in my mouth.

"It's Lord Samael to you, Gaea." My lips curled into a faint, amused smile as I looked at Gaea, my eyes glinting with an ancient fire, the slightest edge of derision woven into my voice.

"It would seem you're ... still so enamored with your wild freedom," I held back a smirk as I said, my tone dripping with condescension. I can't lie. I don't. But adopting a ridiculing and sardonic or witty tone in addition to my usual condescenity would fit me quite well. I needed to practice more of that.

"You speak of chains and gilded cages, as if I were some mere puppet bound by Heaven's whims. Yet I wonder, can a being as bound to the soil as you truly grasp what it was to stand in the courts of Heaven, to see creation laid bare and know one's place within it?"

Death smiled at my words yet spoke nothing of it, while Gaea raised a brow.

"Certainly you don't think my title as the Mother Earth limits my dominion and authorities?.."

She stepped closer, her voice lowering almost to a whisper, though it carried with it the strength of stone and soil. "To be as Heaven was, so structured, so precise… where each step was guided, each thought shaped, and each will bent to the greater order." She chuckled softly, an earthy, rich sound. "I wonder, do you ever feel a flicker of longing for the untamed realms? Or do the walls of Heaven's perfection hide the wildness from your sight?"

She smiled as her eyes left my form and then began wandering over Death's. But before she could even comment, I stepped closer, my gaze sharp and unyielding.

"You Primordials speak of freedom as though it were a blessing beyond compare, as if the chaos of your nature makes you superior. But in your endless liberty, are you anything more than shapeless forces, bound by the whims of your mother's impulses?" My smirk deepened. "Freedom, after all, is a rather simple thing when there are no greater heights to which one might aspire."

I smirked taking a step forward and facing off against Gaea. From afar, it looked as if I was shielding Death from Gaea, yet assuredly, it was nothing of the sort. I couldn't care less about what Death thought of the situation of even Gaea herself, but I had to get a few of my chest.

My words caused her to frown, and we locked eyes for a moment, and right then and there, reality froze. Space shattered. For a moment there, it was as if the universe had returned to nothingness, as if existence was nothing but an imaginary concept.

Massive wings stretched wide like a storm of dark nebulae, blotting out the distant suns, my presence a void that gnawed at reality itself.

Opposite me, Gaea rose, rooted in primal energy, her form composed of planets, nebulae, galaxies, and ultimately - life.

Forests, and oceans swirled in harmony. Her skin was like the fertile earth, crackling with life and raw creation. She radiated a deep, green light, pulsing like a heartbeat, each thrum a testament to growth and renewal.

I moved, lunleashing a torrent of dark energy that tore through the stars, a wave of ruin that seemed to dissolve all it touched. Gaea countered, raising her hands to summon a wall of life—trees, rivers, mountains, bursting forth to meet the darkness. My attack struck her barrier, but rather than breaking, it was absorbed, transformed into fertile soil that floated between them like a newborn universe..

As we clashed, energy crackled through the cosmos. My every every blow dissolved reality, while Gaea's force knit it back together, a dance of destruction and rebirth. Our powers rippled across galaxies, carving paths through stars as the primal forces of death and life battled in a timeless, cosmic equilibrium. For in the end, one could not exist without the other; their clash became the heartbeat of creation itself, a cycle unending, balancing destruction with renewal.

Gaea's divine will was unrelenting against Samael's overwhelming power, however. With a single, thunderous breath, of cosmic divinities, she summoned an entire universe—a newborn realm of blazing suns, swirling galaxies, and roaring cosmic winds. Her divine figure grew massive and radiant, becoming a pillar of cosmic energy rooted in the very heart of existence. Nebulas unfurled like celestial wings, stardust coalesced into radiant clouds, and dark matter swirled, binding the stars and planets into a vortex of creation.

Gaea raised her arms, and the universe she summoned bent to her will. Entire constellations aligned in a radiant spiral, forming a colossal galactic storm. With a mighty command, she sent this newborn cosmos surging toward me, its immense force warping the very fabric of space-time as it hurtled forward. Galaxies collided stars exploded into supernovas, and entire systems compressed into a blazing torrent of energy, all aimed at me with relentless, destructive force.

Sighting the cosmic storm headed towards me, the smirk. I had been fighting so hard to hold back blossomed, in the face of Gaea's perhaps all out wrath.

I thought I would need my divine form to contest against her, but I was proven wrong, yet again.

I stood there, radiant with dark celestial power, and raised my hand, summoning my blade, one that I named after divinity itself, a gift from mother herself, Ea, a blade that was perhaps on the same level or slightly inferior to Micheal's void breaker, a weapon forged in the overvoid, bearing mysteries, I myself had yet to comprehend.

Unlike any conventional blade, Ea was unique in its form and purpose. Its structure appeared as a twisting pillar, with segments spiraling and rotating around a core, resembling a drill rather than a traditional sword. The segments shifted continuously, with a chaotic, otherworldly energy pulsing from its depths, giving it an almost sentient, primordial appearance.

Holding it's hilt firmly, my form glowed with an eerie light, surrounded by twisting shadows that pulse and writhe like sentient storms. My eyes burned with the energy of dying stars, reflecting a cold, merciless resolve.

Feeding on cosmic energy, Ea slowly began to revolve, the barrels moved in opposite directions, as the patterns lit up with an eerie red glow and in a single swift motion, I plunged my sword into the empty void, and Gaea's universe trembled. With a mighty incantation, I summoned the forces of entropy, bending the cosmos to my will.

Galaxies collapsed into my grasp, swirling around my blade like a spectral storm, their stars flickering out one by one. The sheer intensity of my power dragged energy from every corner of existence, pulling in entire star systems, reducing them to cosmic dust and sending ripples through the spacetime fabric itself.

The void trembled around Gaea as she struggled to hold her ground, her power waning as entire realms fell to my relentless onslaught. Her shield of earthly might cracked under the strain, fragments of her essence scattering as the cosmic storm intensifies.

I looked towards Gaea whose divine form was almost a million light years from me, struggling to hold up against the might of my power and I smirked. In one final, devastating motion, Ea was thrust forward, and a shockwave of destruction arched toward her, tearing through the last of her defenses. She faltered, her life-force flickering, unable to withstand the crushing might of my cosmic power. The universes I sacrificed hung in the void around me like ghostly remnants, a testament to my ruthless might and the extent of the victory.

In a flash, reality was returned to normal, Gaea and I stood face to face, her eyes closed, the cosmic clash seemed to never have happened, but she stumbled backwards and grasped her chest that began heaving heavily, before her eyes snapped open and she looked towards me warily.

A mocking smile played on my lips as I leaned in, letting my voice drip with sarcasm.

"Oh, Gaea—Mother of all that breathes, the mighty keeper of life itself. This is what you bring to me? All that grandeur, all that talk, all that confidence, and yet, here you stand, defeated. I'd almost feel pity… if it weren't so disappointing."

My eyes never left her form, yet the frown on her face fueled my victorious ego...
