Monsters Uprising

Chapter 11 - Shaman

A rotting goblin jumped with the dagger above its head, however, before it reached its target, its head was pierced by Sief's dagger, which threw the monster's body to the ground.

He quickly stomped on the monster's skull, which was crushed while the body stopped moving.

Sief sighed, still panting and with some cuts close to his face, as well as a slight bleeding on his forehead that made him remove the blood with his hand.

“Damn, even here they see us.” Sief raised his head and looked at a peak on top of a mountain they had climbed and used to protect themselves from the sun. “And they are also much more numerous than those who attacked the village... if they had attacked the village without me having a decent weapon...”

“We are covered on our backs, but they see us moving and there are some hidden ones watching us. After all, there are sneaky goblins that move without making noise, as well as those that can use mana.” It was Edgar who, under the shadow, faced the destroyed village with his arms crossed and without any apparent injuries. “Like it or not, in the strong green zones and above it is much less rare for a monster to appear with different abilities, even mana...”

“The difference is great from one territory to another...” Sief stopped next to Edgar and crouched down, observing the village. “I thought the monsters here had died during the beast attack…”

“Territories are mostly changed by the alphas that inhabit them, here the monsters died, but there are monsters capable of manipulating the dead.” Edgar turned his face towards one of the ruins, a much larger house with a destroyed second floor, but it was covered and made him sigh. “A shaman.”

“So these monsters that remain here are all corpses of those who once died.” Sief stood up, now recovered, and frowned slightly. “What a scumbag, this shit still has a name.”

“They all have names, this is the forgotten village because as long as there are shamans hidden around here, those who died, whether monsters or even humans, which are the case of putrefying bodies, none of them will rest.” Edgar started to go down towards the village and said: “Listen, Sifritt, there's a reason why you're almost certain that you'll find an alpha, that's because they're always at the ends of the map because that's the area where there's the most traffic. There is a way to avoid them, but you don’t have all that time.”

As soon as the swordsman approached, the monsters turned their faces towards Edgar and began to move, heading towards the swordsman who drew his sword and said, turning his face towards Sief.

“I’ll help you with this one as a parting gift, but if you find the next one, you’ll be alone.” He gave a slight smile as the reddish lines rose again above his skin. “Do you think you can do it?”

“Are you kidding?” Sief came down with his dagger in his hands and a slight smile on his face. “I wanted to test the potential of this dagger, even if I go alone, I can face it.”

“You won’t regret it.” He spoke with a slight smile, already turning his body and throwing his sword at the face of a sneaky goblin that had jumped towards him.

The monster saw the sword approaching without him being able to react and within moments the sound of something being crushed was heard.

As the sun reached its highest point in the sky, the streets of the forgotten village were littered with the bodies of decomposing monsters as Sief and Edgar walked.

Sief had a goblin summoner in one of his hands and threw the already lifeless monster to the side, giving a frustrated sigh while clicking his tongue feeling his arms hurt.

Turning his eyes to them, he saw several light cuts and touched his cheek, also feeling a wound, which made him frown, but he soon heard the front.

“The great alpha slayer took a beating for some normal monsters.” He shook his head and said. “What a disappointment...”

“It doesn’t fill up, and a horde surrounded us in the center of the village.” Sief wiped the blood on his cheek and stretched his arms saying. “I feel good and I will continue.”

“I know you will, otherwise I’ll leave you behind.” Edgar gave a small smile looking back and started walking again, seeing the same protected house in front of him as he said. “Were you trolling this goblin hoping to get some tips? You can be sure that this animal wouldn't have something like that. It was a treat to find a minimally magical sword with that hobgoblin.”

“I understand, but it irritates me a little that a goblin can throw a fireball and I can't…” Sief was also frowning, stopping in front of the house. “Does this Shaman know?”

“Monsters are not good students and I already told you, you are a killer, not a wizard.” Edgar looked back, but Sief continued to frown, until his head was forced down by Edgar, who was still smiling. “Besides, if I were to guess…”

Edgar withdrew his hand and turned his eyes to the surroundings, which Sief also did and saw several bones scattered around the place.

The sizes varied between adult and very old sizes, but some were much smaller and seemed to belong to the small monsters that lived there.

“It could be that this Shaman is experimenting on the dead and it seems like he’s already arriving somewhere.” The swordsman took the lead and entered the house, which was completely dark thanks to his blanket, causing Edgar to sigh, still smiling, saying. “Let’s fix this thing that doesn’t let the dead die.”

“Right…” Sief shook his dagger, getting rid of the little blood it still contained.

They both walked to the place and slowly the interior became lighter as they got used to the darkness.

Sief squinted his eyes and could see something standing in the darkness, but more than that there was something strange, the surroundings smelled bad and the floor was sticky, making the boy frown and cover his nose saying.

“The shaman is-”

"He is here." Edgar commented with a slight smile.

Once again turning his eyes to the darkness, Sief saw that the still silhouette began to move, raising both hands and suddenly candles lit beneath the heavenly feet.

The fire revealed a monster with gray skin and red eyes, his hair was black and on his face there was a smile with yellow and macabre teeth, as well as three horns on his head.

It was wearing rags and had a wooden scepter beneath its feet and when Russian leaned forward, the Shaman screamed.

In an instant, the scepter levitated into his hands and he pointed to the sides, where torches were lit around the room and both Sief and Edgar saw that inside the room there were several bones and carcasses of monsters that were beginning to move.

Edgar frowned, still with a smile and said.

“What a bizarre spectacle this monster wanted to show...”

Edgar leaned his body forward to advance, however, before he could go, Sief advanced, jumping over the Shaman who was screaming again.

The dagger strike arrived, but the Shaman jumped back, making Sief's eyes widen as he missed the hit while the monster stopped in a corner of the room.

Sief turned around, but Edgar backed away, standing next to him with an awkward smile as he said.

“Sorry, Sifritt. I think I made a mistake.”

Turning his eyes to the swordsman, Sief then turned to the entrance where he saw the bones moving, forming bodies of humanoid skeletons, other goblins still with flesh and even creating a huge pile of bones and flesh that gave a humanoid shape with thick arms and short legs.

Sief clicked his tongue and Edgar smiled awkwardly, but soon they heard the Shamam spit quickly, starting a thin and monstrous laugh, starting to dance from side to side while celebrating happily.

“He seems quite happy that we fell for this... how stupid...” Edgar frowned slightly and turned to the large body in front of the door that made him say. “Sifritt, listen to my plan-”

However, once again the young man advanced while the Shaman was in the middle of the dance step, surprising the monster who opened his eyes wide when he saw a greenish aura surround Sief's blade that was cutting quickly.

The monster jumped back, but the dagger cut the front of its face, letting a green aura flow from the Shaman's face who jumped into the middle of his army, showing an angry look while Sief stood up with the blade still containing the same glow. light green of his eyes.

“No problem, he just has to die and this will be over.” Sief gave a slight smile with a frown and said. “I want to see you laugh at that poison, you freak.”

Edgar looked slightly surprised and whistled, turning to the Shaman who clenched his teeth in anger and shouted, pointing the scepter forward as his undead army advanced.

Sief again leaned his body forward, but the Shaman jumped and turned into a black smoke that passed behind the pile of flesh, going outside the house where the two could hear the same scream ringing out again.

Sief frowned irritably and Edgar sighed, letting the red lines appear on his face as he said.

“Before we kill him, we’ll have to get over this…”
