Modern World Warlock

Chapter 379: Tanya’s Movie Showcase

A few days after Saris returned to the Jade Palace with Dante and Cerberus, he was relaxing on his hammock in the garden when Camille called him up to her office.

The handler was still dealing with the remnants of the war against the Onyx Cartel, as it wasn't an easy task to re-distribute all of their businesses among the standing mafia families.

From the list of all the legal businesses they had, there were companies for entertainment, private security, and car dealerships.

They also owned several smaller businesses, but they were used as a front for money laundering, so Camille and the other handlers weren't interested in taking those over.

Still, the affair that brought the Onyx Cartel its riches was the manufacturing and transport of hard drugs all over the world, which none of the other families wanted to inherit.

The Onyx Cartel used modern slavery to find workers and send them to their drug labs in the jungle, and since these drugs were later distributed all over the world, there were other international criminal organizations attached to it.

After the end of the war, the three mafia families sent their troops into the jungle to completely stop the drug labs and free the enslaved workers. However, their actions angered the clients who were waiting for their shipment.

When Dante arrived at Camille's office, she explained the ordeal to him and said that none of the families would be taking over the drug business, which meant that there was a chance they could be targeted by other international cartels.

Still, Camille wasn't worried about the threats from petty criminals. Instead, there was something else on her mind that she needed to address.

"You two, come on in…" Camille said while looking to the side, allowing Tanya and Dirk to enter her office.

"You know these two, right, Dante?" Camille asked, and the warlock didn't deny it, calling them the crazy reporters from the necropolis.

Camille placed her palm on her face with exasperation and let out a long, tired sigh.

"I already talked to them and they explained everything to me. I'm glad you decided to save them, but…" Camille stopped herself for a few seconds.

"Did you really have to allow them to record the whole thing!?" The handler asked, gritting her teeth with annoyance.

"Uhh, I just didn't think it was a big deal. I mean, I would have preferred they just ran away, of course…" Dante tried explaining himself.

However, he could recognize a person's determination by the aura emanating from their body, and he could tell that it didn't matter what he said, Tanya would do anything to complete her movie.

"Okay. And did you think of the kind of repercussions this movie could have?" Camille asked.

"Ermm, it's more of a documentary-" Tanya interjected.

"A documentary is a movie!" Camille loudly replied, slamming her desk in utter annoyance at the turn of events.

The incident of the Limsa necropolis had been reported to the rest of the world as a terrorist attack, which, of course, several governments knew was a lie.

If a movie suddenly came out showing the reality of what had happened, Camille didn't know how the rest of the world would take it, so she had forbidden Tanya and Dirk from publishing the movie.

Nevertheless, she was curious to watch it herself, considering she couldn't witness any of the fights from up close, and her words made Tanya beam with happiness.

The reporter explained that she had already edited the entire footage, which meant that the movie was ready to be watched by the public.

A few days later, the leaders and handlers of the GTS and Azure Rebels visited the Jade Palace after Camille invited them to a "movie night."

The Jade Dragons had placed a large screen in the inner garden of the mansion, allowing the dozens of people present to take a seat and enjoy the show.

In her mind, Camille wanted to watch the footage mostly out of curiosity and to see if she could discover something new or suspicious. However, when she looked at the spectators in the garden with popcorn and sodas, she wondered if she was overreacting.

The three teenagers, Tommy, Lina, and Jake, sat next to the silver-haired handler and shared some of their snacks as the movie started playing.

["Gaaaah- We are dying!"] Tanya shouted in one of the first scenes.

The movie started from the moment that Tanya and Dirk entered the necropolis without a protective talisman, and they literally recorded themselves dying before Dante arrived and saved their lives.

'Hmmm, it sort of feels like the beginning of a bad movie…' Camille thought.

Nonetheless, as the movie continued, Camille found herself glued to the screen, and while she wholeheartedly believed that Tanya and Dirk were two crazy bastards, she couldn't deny their talent for cinematography.

'The shots, the ambiance, even the music… This is actually good!' Camille pondered, completely focused on the movie.

Even so, while it was certainly an entertaining movie, Camille knew that it would be extremely hard for people to believe that everything happening on screen was real.

There was a giant dragon made of bones incinerating the city, vampires, holy knights, a warlock using spells and transformations against a necromancer. There were zombies, undead monsters, and flying demon children.

If anything, anyone who believed the movie was real would be seen as a crazy person.

'Hmmmm, how could I use this to our advantage…?' The silver-haired handler thought, placing a hand on her chin and closing her eyes.

She believed that the movie was great, and the fact that Tanya and Dirk even recorded a brief interview with Netherius made Camille change her mind about the publishing of the movie.

"There are very few people in the world who would watch this movie and believe that it's all real. It just sounds so ridiculous…" Camille explained.

Tanya wasn't sure if she was being praised, but when she heard that Camille would allow them to publish the movie under the entertainment company they got from the Onyx Cartel, the reporter was overjoyed and clung to Dirk's shoulders.
