Chapter 278 Blood Oath Battle (Part 2)
"Hehe, I hope you won't make wild guesses without evidence," declared the Second Ancestor calmly, gazing towards the Netherworld God seated in the supreme position. "Although our resurrection was aided by the forces of hell, we never engaged in any conversation with them, let alone pledged allegiance."
Confronted by the Second Ancestor's forceful words, the Netherworld God's temper flared as well, and he sneered, "What if you agree? What can you do if you don't?"
"Netherworld God! Others might fear you, but we certainly don't!"
As they spoke, the nine elder Lionhearts stepped forward in unison, their divine might abruptly erupting and converging into a single force that pressed aggressively towards the Netherworld God.
"How dare you!" Seeing them join forces to pressure him, the Netherworld God felt provoked and, in a booming voice, caused the nine elder Lionhearts to stagger back as if grievously injured.
From then on, the gaze of those nine unruly individuals towards the Netherworld God became cautious; he was too powerful, damnably powerful.
As the Era of the Gods gradually came to a close and the mighty Heavenly Gods hid their traces, these elder ancestors of the Lionheart clan virtually represented the pinnacle of the God Realm of that era; simply put, they were used to throwing their weight around.
Now, the joint pressure from the nine elders was rebuffed by a single command, instilling a deep reverence in their hearts.
However, these nine elder Lionhearts remained defiant: "Netherworld God, you, an outsider, interfere in the internal affairs of our beast clan. We will never submit to you. If necessary, we will die!"
"Hmph!" The Netherworld God scoffed, "Do you think I want this? The All Heavens and Myriads of Worlds possess overwhelming strength. If I don't unify the Imperial Authority, do you think I can easily defeat those powerful worlds?"
"To wage war on the All Heavens, we of the beast clan are willing and also willing to accept military dispatch, but to change our Beast King and trample over the will of our beast clan—sorry, it's impossible for us to comply!"
Seeing their resolute response, the Netherworld God lost the desire to continue communicating. He placed his fair jade hand on Lu Hong's shoulder and said, "I've fought for what could be fought for; it seems an arduous battle is inevitable. I hope you can endure to the end."
Lu Hong nodded, "Then let's fight!"
"Alright!" The Netherworld God infused Lu Hong with Divine Power, drawing upon his beast clan bloodline and spoke solemnly, "Repeat after me!"
Netherworld God (Lu Hong): "Today the beast clan is exhausted, Imperial Authority is declining, disunity abounds, troubled times face us! Thus, with my blood, I honor the four beast gods, invoke the words of the Blood Oath, to establish our beast clan's eternal foundation, to solidify our beast clan—the ever prosperous golden age!"
"This… this..." The Heavenly God, transcending from ancient times, was naturally unaware of the purpose of this prayer, but those resurrected lionheads knew all too well, their eyes widening in disbelief as they stared at Lu Hong, surrounded by a faint blood glow: "How do you know this Blood Oath?!"
The next second, countless wills of the beast clan's Heavenly Gods descended from the void, a dull thud resonating in the heart of every beast clan member.
"Approved!"
The memory, engraved within all bloodlines of the beast clan, was ultimately awakened. A voice, seemingly from nowhere, told every living beast person what had transpired.
Regardless of where these beast persons were, all felt a stirring in their blood.
A new king for the beast clan was coming— a true king who could make all beast people submit!
"Beast King!"
"Beast King!"
Roar!
At that moment, all beast people went mad, rushing towards Shenen without regard for anything else. They wanted to fight, to witness, to participate in the struggle for the Beast King, to see a king born amidst blood and glory!
Even spanning realms, Eferot felt the agitation at the bottom of his heart. He had to return to Shenen; he had to battle against the mighty and strive for the kingship, even if it meant confronting his father!
"Have you gone mad?!" the second ancestor of the Lionheart clan exclaimed angrily at Lu Hong: "Do you realize what initiating the Blood Oath entails?!"
"If you are unwilling to change the king, then I will have to take it myself."
"How ludicrous," scoffed the elder Lionheart derisively. "Do you think this Blood Oath is so simple? A three-month blood battle—what do you have to sustain it? Our Lionheart clan's millennium-long foundation can't be so easily snatched away by a mere Blood Oath!"
"One has to try to know if it works."
Watching the two conflicting sides, the ancient beast clan Heavenly Gods were utterly bewildered, living before the Blood Oath and naturally unaware of its significance.
"What is this 'Blood Oath' you speak of?"
The fourth ancestor glanced at the puzzled Heavenly God of the beast clan, then explained, "Didn't you hear what the young man just said? The Blood Oath represents the changing of kingship within the beast clan. Of course, he needs to defeat all challengers to the kingship, making all beastmen submit. As long as there is one beastman who does not submit, the battle will not end!"
"Including the God Realm?"
"Divine Power does not descend to the mundane, but demigods are not included in this."
The ancient beast gods nodded their heads one after another, then their gazes focused on Lu Hong. To defeat all beastmen naturally included the demigod Tai'e; initially, they had arranged for three demigod powerhouses to besiege Tai'e. However, Tai'e had effortlessly slain them, and they did not believe that this young man before them had the ability to subdue Tai'e.
As the Blood Oath was invoked, under the arrangement of the nine ancestors, a vast arena had been erected. Within half a month, countless beastmen gathered at the royal capital, and thus the battle of the Blood Oath officially commenced.
As the one who invoked the Blood Oath, Lu Hong was the first to be challenged, and the rules of the Blood Oath were simple.
One arena, the invoker of the Blood Oath would be the first to step onto the platform to defeat all challengers beneath the God Realm. If within three months, no one else stepped onto the platform, then it would last only three months, and all beastmen must acknowledge him as their leader. However, if challengers continued to come forth within the three months, the battle would persist indefinitely until no one else stepped onto the platform.
If the invoker of the Blood Oath was defeated by another challenger, then the victor would continue to stand on the platform, accepting challenges from other beastmen until no challenger remained, and the beast clan submitted.
As Lu Hong stepped onto the platform, the beast clan powerhouses were rather surprised by this figure who had once stirred the winds and clouds of the Star Sea.
"Am I seeing things? Is this the Duke Divine Power of the Sacred Empire?"
"Why would the Duke Divine Power appear in our beast clan? And he even initiated the Blood Oath?"
"You might not know this, but I have followed Lord Eferot before. This Duke Divine Power actually has our beast clan's blood flowing through him; he is the son of His Majesty Tai'e and the brother of Lord Eferot."
"Damn! Really? Tell me more, quickly."
Below the platform, the beastmen were abuzz with discussions, but none doubted Lu Hong's beastman identity.
At that moment, the crowding beast horde spontaneously parted to create a path.
Tai'e had arrived!
With everyone's support, Tai'e ascended the enormous platform step by step.
Lu Hong hadn't imagined that his first battle would be the toughest.
"Turukuru, you have finally admitted your beastman identity. I am relieved," Tai'e began, "But you shouldn't be so eager to seize power."
Lu Hong shook his head slightly, "This isn't about seizing power. You haven't been to the All Heavens and Myriads of Worlds, you don't understand their power."
"No matter who the enemy is, our beast clan— fears nothing!"
"Fears nothing?" Lu Hong laughed. "Then who has been like a bereaved dog these past years, hiding in the secluded halls of the royal palace, oblivious and indifferent, wallowing daily like a morass?"
Rather than getting angry at Lu Hong's mockery, Tai'e sighed, "You are right. It was my fault, letting countless of our people suffer disgrace, like slaves. But now it is different. Stand down today; the position of Beast King doesn't suit you. The old ancestor has already spoken to me. One day, when we go to conquer the All Heavens, I will fully coordinate with you. Rest easy."
"No," Lu Hong objected. "A mountain cannot house two tigers. The power in the Star Sea must be unified to qualify for expansion."
Tai'e nodded, "You are not wrong. If that is the case, then let us battle!"
Tai'e didn't deny Lu Hong's view. A war among different forces would inevitably leave gaps. The methods of engagement, the strategies of response, the division of the spoils of victory, and so on were not issues that could be completely erased by fully cooperating.
But for Tai'e, Lu Hong, who had never wielded power, couldn't manage the numerous affairs beneath it either. Simply put, Tai'e looked down on Lu Hong and didn't think he would make a good leader. Being partial to the human race, how could he secure greater benefits for the beast clan?
"Fight!"
With a low command from Lu Hong, his bloodline activated, the Lion King descended, his blood energy surged, and the holy sword in his hand, his battle intent soared.
"Fight!"
Tai'e shed his outer clothing, his golden fur moving without wind, the aura of the Lion King majestically descending, pressing down so much that numerous beastmen below the platform took steps back.
