Chapter 216: The Frustrated Liesuotus
Looking gruff, Liesuotus never expected to be a loli-con, frolicking with little Pudding for a day until he finally managed to coax the little ancestor off to school, and then to a quiet slumber.
Liesuotus beckoned gently, and two demons, not as ferocious in appearance, emerged from the shadows and knelt, saying, "Subordinates..."
"Shut up!" Liesuotus chastised softly, "If you wake little Pudding, I'll have no choice but to kill you!"
"Yes, yes." The two demons of Heavenly God Realm bent to Liesuotus's scolding, desperately containing their aura, daring not to make any more sound.
Then Liesuotus instructed, "Protect her well. If anyone disrupts her rest, kill them without mercy!"
The two demons nodded, indicating they understood.
After settling little Pudding, Liesuotus left his abode with great care and headed to Akanon's Soul Valley.
Reaching the serene banks of Soul Lake, Liesuotus said discontentedly, "I've only asked you one thing all these years, and you're still giving me the runaround?"
"The runaround?" Akanon glanced at Liesuotus, "Where do you start?"
"What did you bring back to life? Is it her?!"
"Isn't it?"
Akanon's counter left Liesuotus opening and closing his mouth, speechless.
"It's her, but... but it's not her."
"Is it or isn't it!"
Confronted with Akanon's questioning, Liesuotus admitted begrudgingly, "It's her, but..."
"That's enough, don't disturb my rest, get lost!"
"Dammit!" Liesuotus, with his fiery temper, couldn't tolerate such words, immediately grabbing the huge club on his back and smashing it toward Soul Lake.
With Liesuotus's massive strike, Soul Lake exploded with tremendous splashes, the wails of countless wronged souls resonating across heaven and earth.
Yet Akanon remained unperturbed, not making a single move. Even Liesuotus dared not wade into the lake, and with the limited reach of his weapon, he couldn't attack Akanon in the center.
Knowing this all too well, Liesuotus cursed, "If you've got the guts, come out here, I'll cripple you!"
Akanon looked disdainfully at Liesuotus, "A crude brute. I resurrected Elena for you, and you not only fail to thank me, you even demand answers."
"Elena is resurrected, but how the hell did you resurrect her in the form of a girl?!"
Faced with Liesuotus's interrogation, Akanon remained calm, "Wait a few hundred years, and won't she grow up?"
Liesuotus: ...
"If it really were just a matter of waiting a few hundred years, that'd be one thing, but did you also screw up her race? Elena is a demon, a demon, not a human!"
Facing Liesuotus's furious roars, Akanon's expression grew even more disdainful, "Despite living with Elena for so many years, you don't even know she's a half-demon."
"What? Elena is a half-demon?" Liesuotus obviously didn't believe, "I've never heard of any half-demon; you're definitely fooling me!"
"That's why you're merely a brute." Akanon explained, "The origin of half-demons can be traced back to our demon birthplace. Elena's lineage departed from the abyss at a critical time of transformation into demons, which is why they resemble demons but are fundamentally different, retaining human forms in their youth and gradually demonizing as they mature, eventually becoming top-tier demons. However, this bloodline was also ostracized by other demons, leading to their purge, and Elena was meant to be a target of that purge, but you just happened to encounter her and saved her."
Listening to Akanon's words, Liesuotus recalled the first time he met Elena.
Back then, Liesuotus had been young and very weak. At the bottom of a valley, he found Elena close to death from sickness, and it was Liesuotus who pulled her back from the brink.
And Elena swore to serve Liesuotus for life, never to betray.
As Liesuotus grew stronger along his path, Elena became an indispensable part of his life.
"Additionally, the blood you provided me was exceedingly mixed; it was already quite difficult to isolate the portion that belonged to Eirena. Over the long years, the half of Eirena's soul that was of Demon nature has perished, which is why I could only resurrect a human body," Akanon interrupted the other's reminiscence and continued, "To bring Eirena back, I paid a great price, so don't cause trouble here. If you're not satisfied, you should blame yourself for providing the Divine Blood to me so late."
Listening to Akanon's reprimand, Liesuotus said no more and turned to leave.
Not long after leaving Soul Lake, a shadowy demon approached: "Are the beastly Heavenly Gods taken care of?"
Liesuotus glanced at the figure: "Why didn't you give me the Divine Blood earlier?"
The shadowy demon was taken aback and then realized what Liesuotus meant, explaining, "The Divine Blood hidden in the Endless Forest was discovered by chance. Do you think I knew where exactly your battle with the Ancestor Dragon took place?"
Liesuotus reached out to grab him, but unfortunately, the shadowy demon didn't have a physical form, and Liesuotus grasped at nothing.
At this point, the shadowy demon also grew displeased and said in a heavy tone, "I helped you find Eirena, and instead of thanking me, you blame me?!"
Liesuotus was frustrated; things weren't going as planned, and he was harboring a fire in his heart, but there was no appropriate target for his anger.
Unable to respond, Liesuotus could only leave in silence.
Since Eirena's spirit form was reborn but still unstable, she needed to sleep a lot to nourish herself. Therefore, Liesuotus was not in a hurry to return and went instead to the supreme plane of the abyss, the Demon King's Plane.
The Demon King was once slain on his throne by a combined attack from the War God and the Lionheart God.
Archimonde, seeing the sudden arrival of Liesuotus, immediately blocked his path, "What brings you here?"
Liesuotus glared at Archimonde, "Out of my way!"
"It's you who should be leaving!" Archimonde bore resentment toward Liesuotus. If it hadn't been for his insistence on attacking the Endless Forest, how would Hell have been defeated by the God's Grace? How could the Demon King have been killed and pinned on his throne?
"Looking for death?" Liesuotus's temper flared, and he reached for the war hammer on his back.
Archimonde, no fool, sneered, "Would you dare challenge me in my prime?"
This statement stumped Liesuotus; if he struck Archimonde now, he would indirectly admit that he had been too afraid to confront him in his heyday, and only now he was picking on him.
Liesuotus, who cared about face, reluctantly let the matter go.
"I just came to take a look at the Demon King, nothing more," Liesuotus pressed down his anger and spoke to Archimonde, "Just one glance, and then I'll leave."
"No way!" Archimonde firmly rejected Liesuotus's request: "This is a critical period for His Majesty's revival. Including myself, no one can ascend the throne."
Faced with Archimonde's refusal, Liesuotus said no more, just looking up at the towering infernal throne that soared into the clouds.
The giant throne, towering into the clouds, ceaselessly emitted streams of fiery magma.
After the death of the Demon King, the throne had fallen silent, but now, it was surrounded by countless souls. Every second, a soul was being absorbed into the throne, providing nourishment for the Demon King's desiccated body.
After watching for a while, Liesuotus asked, "How much longer before he can be revived?"
"No more than a century."
A century... Liesuotus nodded and turned to leave.
Archimonde watched Liesuotus's departing figure until it had completely disappeared, then finally let out a sigh of relief.
Truth be told, if Liesuotus had charged at the throne heedlessly, Archimonde really wouldn't have been able to stop him.
And a half an hour after Liesuotus had left, the shadowy demon leisurely appeared before Archimonde.
"Shadow Demon, we have met all your requirements. If the Demon King is not revived within a century, I, Archimonde, will kill you!"
Freshly arrived, the shadowy demon received a stern warning from Archimonde.
The shadowy demon chuckled, having previously been reprimanded by Liesuotus; now, he couldn't be bothered to deal with Archimonde, "Step aside."
Faced with the shadowy demon's rebuke, Archimonde took a half step back; there was no choice, after all, the entire resurrection array for the Demon King had been constructed by the shadowy demon alone. Apart from him, no one else understood how the array worked.
