Chapter 87: chapter 87 change of heart

Mist Low turned toward the door, his steps slow but decisive. "I refuse to join," he had said, voice firm.

Raven watched him, completely unfazed. A knowing smirk played at his lips as he leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. His tone was casual—too casual.

"In my guild," Raven said smoothly, "you'd have all the girls you want, playboy."

The effect was immediate.

Mist Low froze.

The room went silent, as if the entire world had stopped to watch his reaction.

Daniel raised an eyebrow. Liz covered her mouth, barely suppressing a chuckle. Ana's eyes gleamed with mischief, already guessing what was coming next.

Mist Low, ever the smooth trickster, took exactly two seconds to process Raven's words before he turned back, a wicked glint in his golden eyes. "Oh?"

His usual lazy grin widened as he suddenly blinked across the room, reappearing right next to Ana and Liz.

"All the girls I want, you say?"

Before either of them could react, Mist Low had draped an arm over each of their shoulders, pulling them close as if they were long-lost lovers. His fingers traced lazy patterns in the air, his voice dripping with charm.

"Such a generous Guild Leader. Are you sure you're not an angel, Raven? Because I swear, you just whispered the sweetest words in my ear."

Ana burst into laughter, shoving at his face. "Oh my god, you're so predictable!"

Liz smirked, shaking her head as she made no attempt to push him away. "Seriously? That's all it took?"

Mist Low dramatically placed a hand over his heart. "You wound me, dear Liz. I'm simply a man who knows a good opportunity when he sees one!"

Daniel, watching the scene unfold, had never looked more done in his entire life. His eye twitched. His fingers curled into a fist on the table.

"Raven." His voice was dangerously calm.

"Yeah?" Raven answered without looking at him.

"Can I kill him?"

"No."

"Just a little?"

"Still no."

Daniel exhaled through his nose, muttering something about killing clowns under his breath.

Meanwhile, Mist Low, entirely unfazed, tightened his hold around Ana and Liz with a satisfied grin. "So, ladies, tell me—does our dear Guild Leader's promise extend to personal bonding time between guildmates?"

Ana raised an eyebrow, tilting her head as if considering it. "Hmm… I could be persuaded—"

Liz grinned. "—if you paid a toll first."

Mist Low's eyes gleamed. "What kind of toll?"

Ana smirked. "Kiss Daniel."

Silence.

The smug grin vanished from Mist Low's face in an instant.

Daniel's murderous aura tripled. "You're joking."

Liz leaned forward, eyes full of amusement. "Nope. Full lips-to-lips contact."

Mist Low glanced at Daniel.

Daniel glared back, his expression pure death.

Mist Low straightened up, putting both hands in the air in surrender. "Ladies, I am deeply flattered, but I must decline. I fear for my very existence."

Liz clicked her tongue. "Coward."

Ana giggled. "You gave up way too fast."

Mist Low sighed dramatically. "I value my face, thank you. And I have a feeling dear Daniel here would make sure I never use it again."

Daniel's eye twitched again. "Damn right."

Raven, at this point, was just enjoying the chaos. He stretched lazily, looking entirely too satisfied with himself. "So, Mist Low. Still refusing to join?"

Mist Low exhaled, placing a hand over his chest as if in deep contemplation. Then, he grinned and extended a hand toward Raven.

"Guild Leader, when can I join?"

Raven clasped his hand, smirking. "Welcome to the guild."

Ana groaned, shaking her head. "We're going to regret this."

Liz laughed. "Oh, absolutely."

Daniel just buried his face in his hands.

Mist Low winked. "Pleasure doing business with you, ladies and gentlemen."

Mist Low leaned back in his chair, his signature smug grin still plastered across his face. He stretched his arms dramatically before placing his elbows on the table, fingers laced together as if he were about to reveal some grand secret.

"As I've now joined the guild," he announced, his voice full of theatrical flair, "it would be unbecoming of me to remain empty-handed. And so, as my first contribution—"

He flicked his wrist, and a shimmering golden key materialized between his fingers. The moment it appeared, the air in the room seemed to shift.

Raven's eyes sharpened.

Ana and Liz, who had been leaning back, suddenly sat up straighter.

Daniel—who had been mentally preparing himself to tolerate Mist Low's nonsense—narrowed his eyes.

The key wasn't ordinary. It glowed with a faint, mystical energy, an aura that suggested it belonged to something valuable.

Raven's voice was calm, but there was a hint of intrigue. "And what, exactly, does that open?"

Mist Low twirled the key between his fingers before finally placing it on the table. He tapped it twice with a flourish.

"A hidden vault. A very special one."

Silence.

Then, Ana leaned forward, eyes gleaming with excitement. "A vault?"

Liz's lips curled into a smirk. "Not bad for a first contribution."

Daniel, however, remained skeptical. He crossed his arms, his gaze flickering between Mist Low and the key. "And how, exactly, did you acquire this?"

Mist Low grinned. "Ah, a magician never reveals his secrets."

Daniel rolled his eyes. "Translation: you probably scammed someone."

Mist Low gasped, placing a hand over his heart. "Daniel, how dare you? You wound me. I prefer the term liberated an item from an unworthy owner."

Liz chuckled. "Same thing."

Raven ignored their banter, his fingers tapping lightly against the table as he stared at the key. He had a feeling Mist Low wouldn't be offering this if it wasn't something big.

"What's in the vault?" he finally asked.

Mist Low's grin widened. "Treasures, of course. Gold, rare items… possibly even a few legendary-grade materials." His voice lowered slightly, turning more serious. "But the real prize? Information. Secrets that the super guilds would kill for."

That caught Raven's attention.

Information was often more valuable than gold in Mortal Online. If the vault held secrets that even super guilds sought after, then it was something worth far more than just rare items.

Ana grinned. "So, when are we raiding it?"

Mist Low waggled his eyebrows. "Eager, are we?"

Liz smirked. "Obviously. Free loot is free loot."

Daniel sighed. "This is a terrible idea, isn't it?"

Raven finally reached out and picked up the key. He studied it closely, feeling the faint magical resonance pulsing from it.

Then, a slow smile spread across his face.

"If we're going to do this," he said, "we're doing it right."

Mist Low clapped his hands together. "Now that's the spirit!"
