Chapter 18: Curiosity Kills Cats
Bam!
Anonymous almost crashed out and took agro of several small crab parties around them as he fircely stomped his feet on the ground," Damn it, these guys are taking it too far, openly using their name and resources advantage to poach new talents in this game as well!"
"If we don't recruit him soon, he will be recruiting us instead...And worse, he would get poached by others."
HealtheWorld was also invited to the forum, so she knew what was going on, but didn't speak aloud, she preferred leading in the shadows and having her big brother be the face of the guild as Night instructed.
As for Tonka, he was confused and couldn't help but ask as he scratched his head awkwardly," Friend, is there a change in plans? Are we gonna continue grinding or not?" He truly didn't care much about any of their guild issues and just wanted to level up, it might be cruel to say given their friendship but he simply was eager to play more before he went to take care of some business.
"Let's continue grinding," Ano waved his hand and stepped to attack a small crab pack of four, planning on tanking them and improving his skills, but as he was about to do so, he heard several loud sounds and metal hitting a hard surface beside him.
Without hesitation, Ano dropped the idea of grinding and looked at the source of the sound. His eyes were fixated on the assassin effortlessly toying with a big crab. His level 4 was on full display, as his movements seemed even more fluid. His attacks were so fast that he even failed to notice them at one moment.
"No, something is wrong with his attack speed at his opening." Anonymous wasn't dumb and saw Requiem fighting a couple of crabs earlier, but his attack speed on his opening was never this fast, and his dagger surely didn't move so fast that he could only see afterimages of them.
'This isn't a simple level advantage, this guy must have stumbled on some sort of a very good weapon, treasure or something that allowed him to become this fast in merely an hour of being gone.' Thinking this much, Anonymous couldn't ignore it anymore and messaged Yone.
He was reluctant to do so given his nature, but he was also curious, and if he could somehow trade a secret or two, it would be a win-win situation for both parties.
"How the hell are you level 4 already? You were level 2 just an hour or so ago. And that kind of attack speed and agility, did you unlock some kind of hidden mechanic or something along those lines?" Anonymous wasn't a person who beat around the bush and instantly went to what he truly thought. His grip on his sword tightened with each message he sent, he truly was frustrated to be more inferior than this assassin.
'This level reveal both on the town's and next to your character's name is truly annoying, but also a rare opportunity, good thing that one of them is getting deleted after the first major update while the other is getting updated.' Yone was annoyed by the unwanted attention of the guilds. Thankfully such a system greatly benefited him at this moment.
"Haha, I guess you could say that I have indeed figured something out. But hey, this isn't some free information," Yone chuckled as he kept his words as mysterious as possible.
'Cmon fall for it,' He was praying inside that this guy is as curious as he wishes him to be, or else the funds idea might get tricky to handle,' This dumb but heaven-defying plan of showing off in front of the Anonymous party was something Yone truly needed to work!
'He is indeed hiding something up his sleeve, no wonder he is such a high level already. But what kind of information can I trade with? Its not like I have any at the moment,' Anonymous was truly at a loss of what to do. 'Maybe money will suffice? Should I try?'
Yone knew the guy took the bait when he took some time to reply, but didn't push him and waited, it needed to feel natural, not forced by him.
"Alright, just tell me what you want in exchange for the information," Anonymos didn't waste much time thinking and just offered such a straightforward offer.
"You sure you are willing to pay for this info? Some things aren't cheap." Yone teased once more.
Ano didn't hesitate in his answer.
"Of course I'm willing, just name your price, and if the info is that valuable, we can agree on a deal both in game or in real life, I'm fine with both."
By the side, HealtheWorld's eyebrows knitted as she looked at the assassin a dozen or so meters away from them, her heart racing as she quickly sent a message to Ano.
"Do not mess whatever you are doing up, our top priority is securing his friendship till we recruit him and not push him away from us. We have a big lead on the other guilds, and his potential is yet to be unknown, but securing as many rising talents soon is never a bad idea Ano."
'Tsk,' Ano clicked his tongue reading the message by the side, he then replied," I know sister, you always keep reminding me of the same detail and I keep telling you that I know how to handle things now, just please give me my chance as a leader for once."
"Fine, you do you. But remember, Night appointed me to watch over you and he will be the one dealing with you if the plans we agreed upon get messed up a lot by your decisions. Eclipse Online is turning into a big deal big brother, so careful," With that, HealtheWorld didn't care much anymore and focused on her loot and how to deal with it, clearly done her part already.
'Dammit, if this is some sort of trick, i'd be throwing away resources for nothing. But if it's real, I could gain an early advantage over others. I can't let Yone sell this info to others!' Ano was in a dilemma but he knew with high risk comes high reward.
Yone appeared to be hesitant to Ano as he took some time to write his message, but after a minute, Ano got his answer.
