Chapter 1833: Gladiator Arena

As the crowd gathered, everyone arrived beside a massive arena. Because King Godok loves gladiator fights, whether between humans or humans and beasts, one could say there are fights here every day. Generally, captives and slaves are locked up here.

Similar to the Dark Elves' area, there are still many slaves of various races here, mostly adventurers, merchants, or travelers, from all sorts of races. One can also see enormous cages holding various beasts.

"Damn, these ogres are so twisted; they actually enjoy this bloody stuff. Look at those gladiators behind the arena gates; each one has eyes like hungry wolves." Iron Tower sighed, "It's too barbaric."

Li Yao shook his head slightly, "Our Dark Camp also advocates these things; otherwise, where would the arena come from? Plus, gladiators are very common, many people voluntarily become gladiators to earn money, it's a normal thing. Back in the Light Faction, the supreme king was once split by magic, one imprisoned, the other became a gladiator as well, and the location was in the peaceful Tauren capital. They didn't reject such activities, let alone other races. This world is extremely barbaric, and such activities are naturally prevalent."

"There's actually such a thing." Iron Tower scratched his head, "Forget it, I only care about fighting; what should we do?"

Li Yao said, "It depends on King Godok's mood, how he arranges the battles. When it's your turn to fight, just win against your opponent."

After saying this, Li Yao stopped speaking and instead examined the grand arena, especially noting the gladiators. Li Yao found quite a few slave gladiators with good potential, which are all targets that can be recruited.

This arena covers an expansive area, similar to the Roman Arena's tiered seating, capable of accommodating ten to twenty thousand spectators, magnificent to the extreme.

The central duel field can be divided into small grounds or can be a large duel field, with the duel field itself being over a hundred yards high, made entirely of white stone, even after millennia have passed, though appearing decayed, it's still magnificent.

Around the arena are high and sturdy walls, and places resembling windows also arranged with seats. To the south is a towering platform two hundred yards above the ground, which is obviously the VIP seating.

The architecture is grand and massive, not just two-yard tall ogres, even Mountain Giants appear small, inheriting the huge and solid characteristics of Titan architecture.

A large number of ogres entered the arena through passageways, lively and bustling.

Li Yao and his group went up to the VIP seats, which offered a commanding view not only over the arena but nearly the entire Dire Maul.

"My God, it wasn't until we got up here that we saw the magnificence of this city; I thought this place was the tallest building, over two hundred yards above ground, but it turns out there are several buildings even taller than this. If we truly capture this place, Prairie Fire boss, you've struck it rich," Iron Tower praised.

"That area shining with silver glimmer should be the Temple of the Moon God, barely visible is an illusory silver silhouette, too beautiful. Also, over there, just slightly lower than the Temple of the Moon God, surrounded by spires, should be the Array, that's the Arcane Tower. Another building, grand and solemn, should be the Administrative Hall. Not just a great fortune, but simply building these four structures might strain Starfire's economy," Blood Rose exclaimed.

Li Yao smiled wryly, "You've certainly put Starfire on a pedestal; just building this pure white arena wouldn't be possible even if Starfire were sold."

As he said this, with the resources Li Yao currently controlled, money was indeed no issue.

Eventually, the Withered Sun Legion would donate a batch of treasures and a group of people, the treasure trove over there couldn't hold all the good stuff anymore.

Over on the plains, the three cities have also reached stability, and when the time comes, they'll certainly transfer a group of people, especially Vampire Countess, whose presence would ensure the plains prosper. Li Yao was already considering appointing her as governor.

Director Li had too many places to manage, already stretched thin, and the development of Starfire's two garrison cities couldn't lag behind, naturally unable to oversee this side.

She could only hold a high-ranking position, involved in major decisions, but not managing specific affairs, conveniently allowing Starfire to establish roots here.

Just as Li Yao and his group marveled at the city's splendor in their own world, King Godok finally arrived amidst cheers like waves, rising higher and higher, a testament to King Godok's prestige.

Especially among the Godok Ogres who supremely worship strength, King Godok was an invincible existence they revered.

"So you are the ones who want to challenge me." Godok walked to his throne and sat down, surveying everyone. He quickly set his gaze on Li Yao, as the others were too low-ranked.

"Yes, it's me. Back then, you killed the previous king and set the rules upon becoming king, once declared that whoever defeats you in a duel will be the new king. I wonder if these words still hold true." Li Yao slightly bowed, then loudly spoke.

The arena fell silent, all heads raised to watch above.

King Godok laughed wildly, eyes full of fierce battle intent, "I, the king, never go back on my words; naturally, I stand by my word. Only, to me, you're too weak. Your frail body wouldn't withstand even a punch from me, would it? I heard the copper gong, which hadn't sounded in two years, blood boiling, I even left my wife on the bed to rush here, but it's somewhat disappointing."

"Heh, say all you want, will you fight or not? I've long wanted to experience being king," Li Yao provoked.

"Fine, if you wish to court death, I'll grant your wish soon," King Godok sneered, "But before our fight, I need to test your guards' skills. You know, being king isn't so easy. You have nine guards, I'll also dispatch nine guards to test their mettle."

King Godok waved his hand, and nine leader-level guards walked out with sinister smiles.

"I won't bully you; I'll send guards of the same rank to fight your guards." After finishing, King Godok sank back to his throne to watch below.

Li Yao turned his head, "It's up to you now. This is your final task; succeed, and you'll earn your military merits regardless of my outcome afterwards. Fail, and apologies, you gain nothing. You should understand the importance of this matter."

"Right, Godok assured; though difficult, we still have some confidence," Blood Rose earnestly said.

"Prairie Fire boss, just watch; they're not even race-level bosses, I can handle them myself," Iron Tower said, puffing his chest.

"Let's hope so," Li Yao smiled.

At this moment, the sun in the sky had reached its zenith, scorching the earth...
