Chapter 1830: Bargaining
"Hey, hey, hey, hurry up and let me out, damn it, I'm feeling terrible." The Goblin exclaimed as soon as he saw Li Yao approaching.
Li Yao didn't open the cage but instead went to the Repair Robot to check it. The damage wasn't too serious, just that the Ogre didn't understand how it worked, tinkering blindly and causing some minor damage. With Li Yao's skills as an engineering master, fixing it was only a ten-minute job.
"So tell me, how did you end up here? I don't believe a dumb Ogre met you in the wild and decided to take a hostage, let alone take you to see their king." Li Yao said while cleaning the Repair Robot.
"Humph, that's my business secret, I can't just tell you easily. Let me out, and don't touch my robot, damn it, you'll make it worse, don't dismantle it." The Goblin protested as he saw Li Yao open the casing.
"That's right, it's your secret. Whether, or when, I let you out is also my secret. And, just to be clear, this robot is already mine." Li Yao ignored the Goblin's shouts and skillfully repaired the robot.
"Alright, the robot is yours now." The Goblin said reluctantly, "But you can't violate the contract, let me out quickly."
"Well, you'd better take a closer look at the contract. It says I defeat the Ogres here to relieve your crisis of being eaten. It doesn't say I have to open the cage. So you'd better shut up; keep making a fuss and you'll stay here forever." Li Yao snapped.
"Oh God, you cunning Elf, you've tricked a shrewd Goblin, damn it." The Goblin murmured softly, afraid that Li Yao might not let him out. He then reluctantly watched Li Yao repair the robot.
Ten minutes later, the robot was finally repaired, and Li Yao could open the robot's warehouse.
"Not bad, finally got a mobile warehouse, it will make things much easier in the future." Li Yao said happily.
"The robot is yours, but the contract didn't say the goods inside are yours too, the goods belong to the great Galio." The Goblin said unwillingly.
Li Yao frowned and said confusedly, "Goods, what goods? You're not going to fool me, are you? I was going to ask you, aren't you a traveling merchant? How can you have a robot with not a single item? Did your things sell out because they're popular, or were they robbed by the Ogres?"
"Damn you, black-hearted Elf, there's clearly a lot of goods inside, a big pile of my materials and parts, and even precious Source Ore, yet you flatly lie without batting an eye. Oh heavens, why isn't there a thunderbolt to kill this bastard?" Galio said, "Moreover, Galio is a great trade tycoon, just one step away from becoming Trade Viscount, right below the Trade Prince."
Li Yao took out the items he wanted and naturally stored the robot in Mechanical Space, saying with praise, "Impressive, from what I know, the minimum standard to become a Trade Viscount seems to be having assets worth a million Gold Coins; it seems you have deep pockets."
Galio looked at Li Yao annoyed, "You devil, how do you know about our Goblin affairs? Fine, there's no goods in the robot, the materials worth tens of thousands of Gold Coins inside were put in later by you, the priceless Source Ore is yours too. Can you let me go now? I really can only give so much, any more and I'd rather die than give another Copper Coin."
"Wrong, wrong, wrong, it's empty inside, no goods. Given that you're pretty sensible, answer a few questions and I can let you go." Li Yao said.
The Goblin was about to cry, "Is it because I slept with the Trade Prince's wife that I'm cursed to meet you, this devil? Fine, what do you want to ask?"
The mercenaries looked at each other in surprise, not expecting Li Yao to deal with an NPC like this and have one wrapped around his finger completely, very different from the player mentality, where players usually please NPCs to take quests, but Li Yao had a smart Goblin spun around like a toy, opening their eyes and giving them some inspiration.
"Whoa, turns out the game can be played like this, I'm going to try it next time." Iron Tower said.
Blood Rose gave him a sideways glance, "Try it in your own quests, be honest in team quests, such tricks aren't things you can try casually, Prairie Fire might not care about NPCs, but we can't."
Everyone nodded, it seemed like a good method, but it wasn't suitable for everyone.
The Goblin then spoke, "I belong to Ratchet, damn it, my competitors actually contacted the Bloodsail Pirates to attack my merchant ship because they don't want me to become Viscount, but the great Galio isn't easily defeated. I still earn Gold Coins through land trade, nothing can stop my path to becoming Viscount, and one day Trade Prince. To other foolish Goblins, Ogres are stubborn, but to me, their money is the easiest. Even a fish can be exchanged for precious fur worth a silver coin, hehe."
"You're quite honest, revealing your business secrets, then how did the Ogres catch you?" Li Yao asked curiously.
"It's because of those stupid Ogres from the Sub-dimension, their arrival made the local Ogres impose martial law. Some fool claimed I might be a spy, my guards were all killed. But with my eloquence, I managed to convince the king. Then some other idiot led a legion to attack the Sub-dimension Ogre nearby, and the king changed his mind again, damn it." The Goblin cursed.
Li Yao touched his nose, "If you're referring to the commander of the Dark Alliance main force, then I'm that idiot."
"Oh heavens, I didn't mean that, what I meant was, that brilliant leader who leads the armies to spread the glory of civilization, it's just my bad luck..."
"Alright, I don't want to hear your flattery, I have a proposal. My main city needs a seasoned finance master to manage the Dark Camp auction house, Neutral auction house, and warehouse. You're aiming to become Viscount, and you're barely qualified." Li Yao said.
The Goblin instantly understood Li Yao's implication, his eyes lit up immediately, "Really, which main city?"
The Goblin's eyes brightened, knowing that if it was true, he could become a Trade Viscount within a year.
"It's here, Dire Maul, including the main city of the Sub-dimension Ogres, it will be my territory." Li Yao said confidently.
The Goblin's eyes darkened, "But you have to be able to capture it."
"That's settled then." Li Yao opened the cage, "You can slip out first, wait nearby for a few days, there'll be news soon."...
