Chapter 9 Training Plan
```
Beast, in commonly used language, carries connotations of being savage and fierce, but in ancient elvish, the term 'beast' more often functions as a noun and a term of praise, representing health, vivacity, an instinct-like agility, and swiftness, among other meanings.
The dazzling beast of midsummer resembles a creature darting through the Midsummer Forest, with beautiful eyes and a lively and healthy body.
Hugh Neil was explaining this to Hexia, and then he led her into the middle of the meadow where, for the first time, Hexia noticed the many rabbits crouching in the grass, which she had previously overlooked due to her focus on the dance and music in the center.
The rabbits ran off at Hugh Neil's approach; they were not transcendent creatures and were quite timid. They had only been drawn by the dancing of the elf girl.
"Hugh Neil, teacher~" A few students greeted the teacher and then curiously looked at Hexia, the unfamiliar student by his side.
Her grey hair paired with those lively black crystal eyes. In her simplicity, she carried an air of lightness, and although she wasn't as eye-catching as the elf girl in the meadow, she possessed a quiet beauty of her own.
"Brigitte." Hugh Neil called the name of the elf girl, who was sitting next to a deer petting its back, evoking an expression of comfort from the animal.
"I'm coming." She turned her head, smiled, and then leapt up as nimbly as a deer to land in front of Hugh Neil.
"This is Brigitte, a third-year student from Yuanting. Although she looks young, she's actually not that young as she's an elf."
"Oh Hugh Neil, teacher, you're mentioning my age again." Although she spoke in protest, she didn't seem angry at all; on the contrary, she was still lively and smiling.
Hexia sized up the elf girl: she was about one and a half meters tall, which in elf terms couldn't even qualify as 'young girl', probably still in the juvenile phase, but even so, her actual age might be greater than teacher Hugh Neil's.
"Hello, I am Hexia, a new student this year." The girl performed a curtsy and then lifted her head.
"You're a very polite companion~ Hello, I am Brigitte, or you can call me Li Ji." Despite her petite stature, she radiated warmth and energy like a little sun.
Brigitte had the strength of Natural Sequence 5 and was only a step away from Sequence 6, with a very stable aura. The faint glow of magic power seemed to overflow from her, making others feel warm.
After the introductions, Hugh Neil and Hexia sat in the meadow, watching Brigitte interact with the animals. Occasionally, she would effortlessly jump onto a branch, lifting her skirt and hopping over a stream to the other side to search for fruit which she'd then spread in her skirt and bring back to feed the animals.
In her presence, those ordinary animals started to glimmer with a pale golden magic light, faintly showing the potential to advance to transcendent beings.
There is a vast chasm between ordinary animals and transcendent creatures with only perhaps one in hundreds or even thousands having the chance to become transcendent. The commonly seen transcendent animals are mostly bred versions of transcendent creatures that, from a young age, have an exceptional adaptability to Mana and magic power and do not have as low a probability of advancing as ordinary animals.
Watching Brigitte's actions, Hexia pondered. This elf girl must possess a special talent, which is to activate the magic sensitivity in the lineage of ordinary animals, allowing them to slowly adapt to magic power to become transcendent creatures. No wonder she had become a legend within the Academy. Such a talent would at least be rated at 'Perfect Level', and if she pushed further, even achieving 'Legendary Level' was possible.
In the afternoon, leaning against a large tree in the shade, Hexia was led by the elf girl, occasionally helping to feed the little animals some grass or smoothing their fur. Time passed leisurely and comfortably, and before they knew it, two hours had slipped by.
"That's enough for today." As the forest began to warm up, Brigitte stood up, waved to the animals, and shook her tambourine to send them back to their original dwellings, quieting down the meadow.
After saying goodbye to Brigitte, Hugh Neil continued walking with Hexia toward the wooden cabins in the forest.
"How are you adjusting these past two days at the Academy, Hexia?"
"I'm adjusting, but there seems to be a lot to learn, such as how to go up and down the Wind Tower."
```
"Haha, that's right, the teacher will start teaching you the relevant spell formulas right after school begins," he said, walking ahead. Along the tree-lined road, one could see many fruit trees, with small animals jumping about and nibbling on the fruits from the trees.
"Here we are."
Hugh Neil stopped in his tracks, while Hexia saw towering trees standing in the forest, each around twenty meters thick, with stairs at their base and windows and doors in the trunks, as some students entered and exited now and then.
"This is another dormitory within the academy, How about you come in and take a seat with me?"
Naturally, Hexia wouldn't refuse. The two climbed up the stairs spiraling around the trunk and entered the tree, finding a spacious living room at the base where many students were sitting and chatting. The interior of the treehouse was cool and comfortable, unlike the hot world outside.
"These trees are special transcendent species that can automatically regulate temperature, making it very comfortable to live inside," Hugh Neil explained briefly.
"If Hexia likes, you can also apply to transfer here in the second year. Every student may apply to switch dormitories at the end of the school year."
"I understand."
"Alright, I suppose you've gotten to know the scenery and special features of the school in the past couple of days."
"Today, I'll give you a brief explanation of the training program that the academy has customized for you." He adjusted his glasses, his expression becoming somewhat more serious.
"Since Hexia's stay at the academy might not be stable, you can take the common theory classes through video, reading, and immersive viewing. Nevertheless, for some special practicum classes, Hexia will still need to attend in person."
"Regarding the Songstress..." He hesitated for a moment before continuing.
"There will be a special teacher for you. Her situation is quite unique; she's not a living person, but exists in the form of a certain ghost. I hope you won't be surprised."
"Moreover, it's better to perform only among animals in the early stages, rather than revealing this talent in front of classmates. Our academy will also keep your existence confidential and handle it with a low profile."
"If you encounter arguments, contests, or battles in daily life, and if there's room to spare, try to let the transcendent animals you're training take the stage, rather than taking action yourself."
"This is because your opportunities to take the stage at Edith Academy will be much greater, and you'll receive extensive exposure. The aspects you showcase at both academies should be staggered and not overlap."
"Although it seems that we're at a bit of a disadvantage, Yuanting doesn't actually care much about rankings."
"By the way, tomorrow is the official registration day for new students. You can also go to the snake park to collect the Indigo Snake you previously chose and then learn how to nurture and train its skills."
"One month after the start of school, that is, during the Autumn Breeze Festival, the new students will have a warm-up match, which is to let your 'companions' take the stage for a matchup, to see the results of your past month's efforts. After your contests, the higher grades will have their showdown, which will be especially exciting and lively."
"The academy will reward those who rank in the warm-up matches with various goodies for you to choose from, including some rare transcendent animals' offspring. Hexia, you might want to give it a try."
"We've got it," Hexia nodded, a lot of anticipation rising in her heart.
From her earlier battles and experiences, she realized that her knowledge of many spell formulas was still too rudimentary. After all, middle school was just a small place, and the resources and secret techniques available there were quite limited. Now at Yuanting, there was so much more to learn and catch up on.
