Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 68 Sword Dominates the Arena

In the Combat Room, Valke, who had just finished recuperating, was readjusting to his body, while opposite him, guiding his training, was N holding an unsharpened steel sword.

N was a high-rank instructor of the Slashing Blade Sequence 6, who had once been a core member of a large firm. After getting married, in order to take care of his family, he resigned from the previous, more dangerous job and was recruited by Edith Academy.

During the sparring session, Valke's movements were initially slow as if he were warming up, but as he became more familiar with his body's condition, his momentum gradually picked up.

"Ha!"

After a brief punch to block the sword strike, he kicked fiercely with his powerful thighs at the teacher in front of him, creating a brief vacuum in the air, emitting a loud bang.

The profound strength caused N, having been swept by the kick, to stagger back several steps before barely steadying himself.

"Not bad," N nodded slightly and praised, then pointed out the shortcomings.

"In terms of explosiveness and power, you're doing very well, but if you face opponents who are high-speed and wield sharp weapons, your way of fighting will also suffer a lot."

"Overall, you lack a variety of offensive methods to deal with numerous situations."

"Starting tomorrow, I will teach you firearms, and there will be several freshmen training with you," he explained, and with that, the training for the day was concluded.

There will be others training too? Hearing this, Valke quietly wondered. Although he wasn't a prideful person, he had seen many freshmen, most of whom were rich and pampered, with few focusing on combat. More commonly, they were involved in other areas, such as technological research, finance and business, or the arts.

After returning to his accommodations, he finished the academy's custom nutrition meal, took a bath, and was preparing to meditate for a while before sleeping when someone rang the doorbell.

Walking over and opening the door, Valke saw a familiar figure, slightly overweight, wearing a brown suit jacket and an old hat on his head.

"Boise Teacher," he was a bit surprised to have the teacher visiting so late.

"Let's talk inside." The teacher, well-acquainted with Valke, didn't linger outside to chat and the two immediately entered the house and sat down in the living room.

After taking off his hat, Boise scrutinized Valke carefully before slowly speaking, "How is your recovery now?"

"Very good, almost just like before, at least I can't feel any difference," Valke replied.

"That's good, that's good." Boise placed his hands on his knees, unconsciously twisting and gripping them tight before relaxing.

Seeing Valke puzzled, he didn't explain further but instead began to talk about other things.

"I was negligent previously, but after this incident, I think both you and I should take the lesson. If it weren't for the academy bringing in someone this time, the sequelae from your injuries might never have been eradicated for life," he said.

"Yes, Teacher," Valke also bowed his head, he had been anxious while lying in the hospital bed, afraid he would never recover.

In the past, he could be fearless because simply reaching adulthood was already fulfilling his childhood wishes. But now, it was different; if he were to fall, the orphanage's funding might be lost, and Pastor Boise would face many difficult predicaments. Valke didn't want that to happen.

"It's good that you understand. Regarding your friend, I will communicate with the police station on your behalf, and I promise to do my utmost to preserve his life, but for the other matters, I hope you will cease to inquire and intervene. Do you understand what I mean?"

"I... I understand," Valke sighed, realizing he wasn't powerful enough yet to make demands of Teacher Boise.

"You understand and that's good. If he contacts you again, transfer it to me, and I'll handle it for you."

"You've already done a lot for him. If he still considers you a friend, he shouldn't keep putting you in danger again and again."

"Hmm..." Valke replied in silence.

"I know you two have deep feelings from the past, but now is not the time for sentimentality. You are going to have to shoulder many things in the future; you can't be as impulsive as before, or else..." He seemed to want to say something but then swallowed the words, because as a mentor, he knew that he shouldn't teach with threats and intimidation, something which was prohibited at Edith Academy.

"...otherwise, I would be very upset." Boise let out a sigh, although he didn't threaten Valke, his weary appearance made Valke feel even more uncomfortable and guilty.

"I'm sorry, Teacher Boise, for causing you so much trouble."

"It's fine as long as you understand, but I also don't want you to remain downhearted." Boise shook his head; he didn't want to keep the atmosphere so heavy.

After speaking, he stood up, looked around the living room, then located the water dispenser and poured himself some hot tea, also serving Valke a cup.

After slowly sipping the tea and leaning back on the couch, Boise half-closed his eyes with a relaxed expression, which also slightly eased Valke's mood.

"You're starting new training tomorrow, right?" Boise suddenly asked another question.

"Yes, it's related to firearms." Read exclusive chapters at empire

"Hmm, we wouldn't normally teach this so early, but it seems necessary to start ahead of schedule now."

"Among those in the same training group, there are other people of the same year level, and among them..." He paused for a few seconds as if weighing his words.

"Among them is a girl named Tilan; you might try making contact and building a good relationship with her."

"Is that so?"

"I can't explain the reasons, just take it as a personal suggestion from me, no need to be too deliberate, just be a bit friendly to her, that's all."
