Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 206: The Gorgeous Tailoring of Dual Swords_2

The attack had not yet ended when, less than half a second after the first sword edge whizzed past, another sword edge came at Sweitevi from the side-rear, aiming straight for his nape but was dodged.

However, that gold-and-silver interlaced sword edge still slashed a cut across Sweitevi's back, adding another wound.

After several such exchanges, there were around 7 students from Saint Ingo Academy's 'Caged Fairies' society still fluttering in the air, while only Sweitevi from Thunder Edge Academy remained on the ground.

Despite Sweitevi being strong, the 'Caged Fairies' society of Saint Ingo Academy also ranked within the top three of the school's societies, abundant with outstanding prodigies. Many students, who seemed to be defeated by one of Sweitevi's moves, could have been the first in their class at other schools, it just wasn't as noticeable at Saint Ingo.

The remaining seven were the cream of the crop within the academy, each one a Perfect Condensed Bead Level with a Sequence 5 rating. Their powers and skills were exceptionally strong, and they were familiar with each other, working together seamlessly.

"Sweitevi is in trouble now," a student in the hall commented quietly. "Originally, Thunder Edge Academy lacks the nimble and handy flying secret techniques, at a disadvantage in aerial combat, and now he's being besieged, even more passive."

"Is flying that difficult?" Mel asked curiously, feeling that in Yuanting, the people and animals that could fly were everywhere.

"Flying isn't difficult, the difficulty is maintaining high speed and agility in combat," Hexia explained, given her experience.

"Though many bird species can fly, they rely on air currents to soar. This leads to the need for a buffer when changing directions or adjusting posture, meaning they can't do it abruptly, unlike ground combat where you can change direction flexibly with the help of the earth."

"Aerial combat is very similar to knightly duels in ancient times, intertwining in an encounter and then circling back around." While Hexia spoke, the gray moon cat in Mel's arms leaped out, came before Hexia, and rubbed against the palm of her hand, signaling for the girl to scratch under its chin.

"Thunder Edge Academy students occasionally practice horse riding at school nowadays, and if they go to the military after graduation, they'll likely pilot aircraft or mechas, sharing many similarities."

"In fact, saying that Thunder Edge Academy is not good at aerial combat is incorrect. They just aren't adept at aerial combat without mechas or aircraft."

"Speaking of which, Saint Ingo Academy inherited a vast amount of secret techniques and texts from the Elf Royal Family, and since elves had a close relationship with fairies in the early years, the group that has preserved the most fairy secret techniques is the Elf Royal Family."

"Compared to humans, fairies' physical structure is distinctly different. Created to be called 'Wingsbeats', they were endowed with extraordinary flying capabilities and ultra-high reflexes."

"Vertebrates' nerve conduction speeds are around 100m/s due to myelination, but fairies innately reach 500m/s."

"The reason in ancient myths and fairy tales fairies often seem to appear and then disappear is not because they can teleport, but because their speed is too fast for most animals to react, creating a discrepancy in perception."

"Many insects seem agile simply because they're small, but in reality, their nerve reaction speed is only about 1m/s. When they get larger, they become particularly sluggish - take a 2-meter-long insect, for instance. If it steps on something, it might take 1-2 seconds to notice, and by the time it reacts and starts to move its limbs, 3-4 seconds have already passed."

"Transcendent beings, upon advancing to Sequence 4, employ the Transcendent Core to build a new consciousness perception system to aid in nerve reactions, significantly boosting their reflex speed. Some insects or non-vertebrate organisms can even overcome their innate shortcomings this way."

"Nowadays it's Sequence 4, but in the past, it was known as Sequence 5, which is why it was often said that reaching Sequence 5 gave Transcendents a substantial increase in power."

"Fairies, who are innately superior to humans and other vertebrates, can enhance their reflex speed even further upon advancing in the Transcendent Sequence. Coupled with their light bodies, this grants them blindingly fast and even terrifying mobility. Using such instantaneous lethality, many witches from the Mercury Dynasty were slain before they could react." Hexia recited from knowledge she had recently studied.

"Although the current Saint Ingo's capabilities are merely the tip of the iceberg compared to the fairies of ancient myths, when compared to most Transcendents, it's already a significant advantage." Hexia petted the gray moon cat's head, and then the little creature turned around and hopped next to the Indigo Snake, seeming to want to settle in the downy nest with the Light Cotton Birds and enjoy the warm spot.

"So there's such profound history behind it all." Mel looked at Hexia with admiration.

As the two discussed flying and combat, the battle on the projection screen continued.

Faced with Saint Ingo's students who kept weaving and swooping in attack, Sweitevi had to be fully-focused, his body wrapped in lightning, enhanced by Sequence 5 level, significantly improving his reflexes. This was the only way he could barely cope in the besiegement; he avoided critical areas and occasionally launched a counterattack.

"Many said Sweitevi was a favorite to win this Winter Festival's competition, but looking at it today, it seems he's not that strong?" Some students began to doubt.

"That's because you're watching comfortably from here. If you were out there, you probably wouldn't be able to withstand a single move before being cut down by a Saint Ingo student," a senior laughed and commented.

"Are Saint Ingo's students really that strong?" A second-year student was still skeptical, but at that moment, a sudden change occurred on the screen.
