Chapter 164: The Corridor Bathed in Afterglow
The long dream was like a real recorded film, with the scent of flowers and the chirping of birds singing by one's ear, telling stories from a thousand years ago.
By the time Tilan woke up from this immersive dream, it was already evening.
"How about it, do you want to take a walk outside before dinner?" Acacia helped Tilan out, noticing her slight daze and knowing it was the aftereffect of watching immersive recordings.
To prevent memory confusion due to watching immersive footage for too long, the Federation's safety limit stipulated that one must be awakened once after a maximum of 6 hours, then wait 12 hours before continuing.
After coming out with Acacia and getting some air in the corridor, Tilan felt much clearer.
The corridor here was suspended in mid-air, with a long planter box along one side, filled with various flowers and plants, imparting a sense of life to the massive building styled with heavy metallic elements and offering some relaxation.
Walking slowly along the elevated corridor, enjoying the evening breeze and overlooking the sunset in the distance, the two chatted about trivial matters.
"The past of the Fifth Epoch really is quite heavy, no wonder it's only briefly mentioned at school," Tilan said, leaning on the railing and talking about her time in school.
"The events of the Third Epoch, on the other hand, are explained in much more detail."
"That's because, although the Third Epoch had its backward moments, overall it was a time of constant progress and hope. Plus, the ancient and fantastical social environment is also appealing," Acacia said, standing beside her, the waning golden light warming the white robe she wore.
"What happened later? Although I know the outcome of history, it's still hard to imagine how Isenisha managed to change such a dire and despairing environment," Tilan mused aloud.
"Well, that's not something you can cover in a day or two, hehe~" Acacia said with a smile, gently patting the head of the girl beside her.
"Princess Isenisha also experienced failure, disappointment, and escapism, but many things happened later on, and slowly a turning point arrived."
"Even a powerful Songstress like Princess Isenisha underwent a lot of pain before she matured slowly and eventually gathered many people and forces to truly end the impact of the Fifth Epoch."
"Tilan, you shouldn't underestimate yourself, nor be too anxious. Many things can't be changed overnight, just take it slowly," Acacia continued.
"I'll bring you back here tomorrow to see some accounts of Princess Isenisha leaving the Twin Trees Star Domain, and then it's the grand battle that happened hundreds of years later."
"Ah, you're not letting me see the middle part?" the girl asked curiously, turning her head.
"It's not that I'm not letting you see it, but that it's not suitable for you now," Acacia shook her head.
"Wait a few more years, after you graduate from university, the Grand Cathedral will send you another invitation."
"Although it's a bit mean to keep you in suspense, this is a rule derived from experience. We used to bring in new Songstresses, train them in many things, and then inundate them with the history of the past and the mission of today, but later we realized this approach wasn't good."

"It likely caused some tragedies, so it was gradually prohibited."
"The reason I said that the previous Songstress training used to last most of a year, and now you have only three days, is because we've learned from past experience. Before you've grown to that stage, we don't want to overstress you."
"Relax a little, Little Tilan. You're only 17, right? I guess you've never even been in love. Just live your own life well, enjoy the beauty and joy of this stage first, and when you've grown up, there will be plenty of time and energy to fulfill the mission of a Songstress."
"A Songstress, whole of heart and rich in emotion, can become a guiding star for everyone. If you've never tasted the sweetness of strawberries yourself, how can you describe their tempting flavor to others?"
"If you're deprived of the happy and joyful life that is meant for you, it might be hard to make it far on the path of a Songstress. There are some experiences that, once you're past a certain age, you'll never have again."
"So, after watching the video recordings tomorrow, try to forget about them for now. When the day comes that you've grown up a bit more, you'll naturally remember them again," Acacia suggested.
"Is that really okay? Although I'm still young and you don't want me to bear the pressure prematurely, I've already received the rights and title of a Songstress," Tilan said, slightly shaking her head. In the Federation's education, the concepts of rights and responsibilities being equivalent had long been instilled in people's hearts.
"It's fine. As long as you sing, bringing joy and deep emotional experiences to everyone, you're already contributing."
"You can't always focus on the distant future. Even making ice cream for everyone is a contribution to the community, because when people eat something delicious and appetizing, their mood improves, and they work with higher efficiency and more seriousness," Acacia comforted Tilan.
"If that's the case…" Tilan didn't know how to argue anymore.
"Then I'll just try a little harder," she thought, planning to work harder at learning instruments and music from now on.
She couldn't slack off and oversleep like she used to. "Hexia Tilan," the girl whispered to herself with resolve.
"Ahahaha~" Watching Tilan's earnest and adorable look, Acacia covered her mouth and laughed softly.
"Alright, that's it for today. What would you like to eat tonight? Although the Floral Crown Star Domain can be a bit dull, the food in the restaurants here is really great. They have dishes and meals from all over the Federation, and moreover, as long as there's no waste, it's all reimbursable for free."
"Is it really that good?" The girl's mouth opened slightly in surprise, but in truth, she wasn't very familiar with gourmet food and couldn't think of anything special she liked.
"Let's just go to the restaurant and see what's available. I don't know what I want to eat either."
"Okay, we often do that actually. I used to agree with colleagues that after entering the restaurant, on the 56th step, we would stop and the second row of dishes shown on the third screen would be our dinner for the evening."
"And the result?"
"Sometimes it's a surprise, finding something good we never expected to try before. But occasionally, we encounter something that really doesn't suit our taste, and we have to choke it down," she laughed.
"Good or bad, it's pretty interesting either way, isn't it?"
"Does Tilan want to make a bet with me this time? To decide what we'll have for dinner," Acacia asked, holding Tilan's hand.
"I will," the girl nodded.
"Let me think. Let's decide on the 42nd step then. The 'Feathered Robe' restaurant nearby has a total of six displays for the dishes, each with six constantly moving rows. Which one will you choose, Tilan?"
"Then the fourth display, the second row…"
The two chatted and laughed while making their agreement, walking along the air corridor bathed in sunset light, until their figures entered the grand building's shadow and gradually disappeared from view.
