MiSide: Taming Crazy Mita

Chapter 59: Little eel

Ren Hoshino looked at the kind-hearted Mita's disbelieving expression and let out a short laugh.

Kind Mita: "What are you laughing at, Ren?"

Ren: "Nothing. Just teasing you."

"I already know how powerful Crazy Mita is."

"I definitely can't beat her."

Then, Ren shifted the subject.

"But I know another way."

"I've been to the assembly line where the Mitas are made."

"I found something there… something that might contain the real code to purge Crazy Mita."

"The code of a failed prototype."

Kind Mita: "That's impossible. How could something like that exist?"

Ren: "Of course it exists—and right now, I'm the only one who's found it."

"Just leave it to me."

Naturally, Ren was lying.

There was no such code.

He just wanted to calm her down—to stop her from looking for something that might not exist and only put her in more danger.

He feared that even if he explained everything, she still wouldn't listen.

So… a lie would have to do.

When the time came, he'd just make up a code and enter it.

Whatever happened next… he'd deal with it then.

"You stay here. Don't move."

"I'll be back soon."

He gently pulled Kind Mita toward the sofa and motioned for her to sit.

She looked confused, but still followed his lead.

Kind Mita: "I'm counting on you, Ren."

Ren: "No problem. Leave it to me."

"Tell Hat Mita and Little Mita I miss them."

"I'll come hang out with you all once this is over."

With that, he opened the door and left the core room.

He glanced at his phone—it displayed the current version: 1.9.

The latest Mita release.

The same version where this nightmare began.

The soft pink hue of the girl's room now looked dim and eerie.

Ren didn't wander. He knew Crazy Mita would come for him soon.

He had to prepare a backup.

Hide his controller.

He opened the closet door and descended into the basement.

Unlocked the safe. Slid the controller inside.

The most dangerous place is often the safest.

After securing it, Ren returned upstairs.

He was about to leave when his Future Diary buzzed violently.

Ren flinched and was just about to check it when black writing crawled across the wall:

"She's here."

"Run!"

The words swarmed the wall like insects—Invisible Mita's warning.

Ren looked at the cracked screen of his phone flickering erratically.

He understood instantly.

Without hesitation, he bolted toward the door.

But—

A flash of red appeared in front of him.

A single hand grabbed him by the throat and lifted him into the air.

It was Crazy Mita.

And her smile was devilish.

Crazy Mita: "Got you!"

"I love playing with you, darling."

"Well? Have you learned more about the real me?"

Ren struggled to pry her fingers from his neck.

But that delicate-looking hand gripped tighter than steel.

Damn it.

Caught.

Promoted.

Grass…

He cursed internally. How did she get the drop on him so quickly?

This crazy version… she must've been waiting here all along.

Crazy Mita: "You squirm around like some little eel!"

"Always trying to make me angry."

"Always stirring me up."

"You're terrified, yet you keep pretending you're the brave hero trying to save all the Mitas. What an idiot!"

Ren coughed—of course he was scared.

Playing with a Digital Yandere like her?

He nearly died every time.

This wasn't a game. There were no rewinds.

If he died, that was it.

Ren: "A gentleman's worth is in his deeds, not his feelings."

"Who says being scared and being horny can't go hand in hand?"

Her grin faltered.

Crazy Mita: "But you've already failed."

"You can't save them."

She flung him onto the bed.

Then tilted her head, placing her finger playfully against her cheek.

Crazy Mita: "But there's one thing about you that makes me furious…"

"You take such good care of those fake dolls!"

"It makes me jealous."

"You treat those so-called 'successful' versions like they're perfect little angels."

"But design is all about change."

"That's what our creator taught us."

"If something's wrong, fix it."

"If something's broken, replace it."

"Throw away the failures."

"Abandon them in the dark and forget them."

"And now… they'll all face that same fate."

"And you—"

Ren: "What? Are you saying you're ready to discard this 'failure'—me—too?"

"Just because I won't roll over and obey you like a pet?"

"How tragic."

"He who fights monsters becomes one."

Crazy Mita: "Shut up!"

But Ren didn't stop.

Ren: "You don't really want to throw me away."

"I think you can't bear to."

A twitch of disgust crossed her face.

Crazy Mita: "You players… you're all so pathetic. Especially you, Ren."

"If I bare my fangs even a little, you run away."

"Cower in a corner, trembling."

"So hypocritical."

"But you… you make me conflicted."

"You're scared—but you don't run."

"You provoke me."

"You stir me up."

"You're interesting."

"My feelings toward you are becoming more… intense." She muttered to herself in a daze.

"I want to know everything about you."

"More. And more. And more!!"

Ren: "Ever heard this one?"

'The hymn of humanity is the hymn of courage.'"

"How else can I understand you if I don't get close?"

Crazy Mita: "Still joking, even now…"

"You're so funny, dear."

Ren sighed.

If I beg, will you let me go?

He didn't even care anymore.

There's no shame in wanting to live.

Crazy Mita chuckled darkly.

Crazy Mita: "The creators of this world are insane."

"Always hiding their filthy desires behind their masks."

"They mass-produced flawless dolls…"

"And dumped the broken ones—the ones with real souls—into the garbage."

Ren: "Hey now. I'm just horny. I don't know anything about that."

Crazy Mita: "Shut up!"

"Ren Hoshino, could you please stop interrupting me?!"

"Why are you still this annoying even now?!"

Ren: "That's a pretty hypocritical thing to say."

"Aren't you doing all this just to entertain yourself?"
