Chapter 141: Daughter
"You think so too, that this child looks a lot like our daughter?"
Alain knew the 'bad woman's' personality well: deeply jealous, extremely possessive. If he let her sense Little Mita's cuteness—that is, a threat—there would surely be danger. He knew his points were still at zero; Little Mita would definitely have to stay in the game world for a while, at least until he could bring her out on his next entry. If, during this period when Alain was away, Crazy Mita found Little Mita and took her away, then in the future... she might really be gone for good.
So, what he had to do was simple: completely dispel any suspicion that Little Mita might be "cheating," to prevent the 'bad woman' from making a move in the future. Besides, such a cute child couldn't possibly be a "cheater." Alain thought the 'bad woman' was just overthinking things.
"D-Daughter?" The first to react wasn't Crazy Mita, but rather Little Mita. She frantically hugged her arms, her just-restored bright eyes filled with surprise and bewilderment. Little Mita knew: her feelings for her Knight were definitely not... some messy daughter-father affection. In short, she really liked her Knight—that is, Alain. It wasn't just the feeling between a Mita and a player, it was... something else.
But Alain glanced at her, his eyes expressing a hint of apology, then looked towards Crazy Mita. "Don't you think so?"
I don't!!! The girl puffed out her cheeks slightly, but there was nothing she could do... after all, her Knight was working hard for her sake. But, but... he's clearly trying so hard for me, yet I can't even manage a simple "Go for it." Cheering for him to make me his daughter? So weird, no! Absolutely not!
But what could she do? This was also for safety... Did she really have to bear the title of "daughter"? Even if it was temporary, in her heart... she found it hard to accept. Little Mita wanted nothing to do with that word.
Meanwhile, Crazy Mita was uncertainly studying Alain's face, her gaze shifting from him to Little Mita's expression. "Alain... what are you up to now?" This child... as her and Alain's daughter? What nonsense is Alain spouting...? Don't tell me, he thinks I'm that easy to fool? I'm not some stupid woman. Alain's cartridge is in my hands. He still doesn't know he's under my control, right?
"Don't you think she looks like us?" Feeling the gazes of the two Mitas, big and small, on him, Alain could only turn his eyes to his good bro. Millie was currently squatting in a corner, crestfallen, constantly muttering, "Am I not competitive?" "Hah... I'm just useless," "After all, I'm just a bro..."
As if sensing Alain's gaze, she turned around. She paused for a moment, then it dawned on her. "Oh, oh! I think so too! Miss Crazy Mita."
Alain's good bro's mind worked as well as ever, grasping the crux of the conflict and instantly understanding his train of thought. The girl walked over to the three schemers, stared at Little Mita for two seconds, then glanced at Alain, and then at Crazy Mita. The ponytail girl was made extremely uncomfortable by her questioning gaze. But the next second, her next words made her ecstatic.
"Indeed. I think you two, as a cou-cou-cou..." The hatted girl's complete thought process suddenly got stuck when it came to the word "couple." Alain watched her trying to spit out the word, her little face turning red, yet not a single syllable came out. Until her gaze turned to him, as if receiving some kind of push—
"I think you two, as a couple, are missing something!" She said it... Millie wiped the cold sweat from her forehead. It was clearly a successful move, yet it felt more like a failure... As if she had lost something important that she couldn't quite put her finger on. But she could only go along with the situation and continue, "Your feelings, I think they're already very deep."
The word deep, Millie practically had to grit her teeth to get it out. Then, she saw Crazy Mita's strangely fervent, starry eyes. As if to say: "Well said, say more."
Millie was already on the verge of tears, but... She turned to the side, and Alain also gave her an encouraging look. Why... do I suddenly want to hit him? I feel... so angry...
She suppressed her anger and continued with a formulaic smile. "But I just find it strange, why, since you're already an 'old married couple,' don't you have a child?"
"O-old married couple, are we?" Crazy Mita blushed, her hand resting on her cheek, her gaze occasionally sweet like an expectant wife's, glancing at Alain.
"Yes." Alain nodded, making Millie want to hit him even more.
"I think you two should have a child that matches your feelings." Millie's feelings were complicated. After saying this mechanical sentence, she went back to the corner and continued to be crestfallen. As she was leaving, she glanced at Alain, conveying a hint of dissatisfaction. Her good bro understood and gave her an apologetic gesture.
None of this was noticed by Crazy Mita. At this moment, she was immersed in the last sentence the hat doll had said: ".....?" She touched her lower abdomen, her eyes dark, and sighed.
And Alain's words pulled her back.
"And this child, don't you think she looks a lot like the two of us?"
Under her gaze, Alain affectionately picked up Little Mita, letting her sit in the crook of his arm. Unexpectedly, the girl's heart felt not a shred of jealousy.
"Look." Alain smiled, showing Little Mita to her. "Her eyes, don't they look a lot like mine?"
"Indeed." Crazy Mita sized up the girl. "Just like you when you were being hunted by me, your eyes are full of cute defiance."
"..." Alain's smile stiffened noticeably. He continued, "Her face is also as cute as yours."
Alain's words paused, implying something, "Doesn't this look just like our child?"
"Our... child?" Crazy Mita's attention was completely focused on "our child." Her gaze towards Little Mita changed slightly. And Alain, seeing this, realized it was about time. He was being pushed to his limits by Little Mita's pleading and even begging gazes. It was as if if he said one more word, the girl would cry for him to see.
But there was no other way!
"Let her be our daughter, just for now?"
"Our... daughter?" Alain could clearly see the starlight in Crazy Mita's eyes overflowing onto her face, the warmth even making Alain feel it was scalding.
"Yes, our daughter!"
Perhaps in her eyes, the facts were no longer that important. This was a child, what the internet called the "crystallization of love"! As long as she and Alain had something symbolizing the crystallization of their feelings, then nothing else mattered!
The seemingly happy "family" had safely passed this moment, each with their own ulterior motives. Alain was lucky to have made it through once more. Crazy Mita was sweetened by the new crystallization of love. Little Mita stared blankly, muttering, "I don't want to be a daughter..." Millie squatted in the corner, contemplating when she could beat Alain up.
