Chapter 83: Chapter 83: He is Lin Fan
The residents of Blue Star and Twilight Forest were arguing fiercely, while Hu Tiancheng's gaze toward Lin Fan grew increasingly deep.
Suddenly, he took a deep breath and turned his eyes to the Twilight Forest residents beside him.
"How about this? Let's make a bet." Hu Tiancheng curled his lips into a smile, his eyes filled with confidence and arrogance.
Everyone's attention shifted to him.
"A bet?"
"That's right."
"What are we betting on?"
"We'll bet on the outcome of this battle between Lin Fan and Curtis—who will be the victor?" Hu Tiancheng lifted his head proudly.
The Twilight Forest residents hesitated for a moment at his words.
Seeing this, the Blue Star residents sneered.
"What's the matter? Are you afraid? Do you Twilight Forest people only know how to talk big?"
"If you're scared, just admit it. Acknowledge that Continent One is stronger than Twilight Forest—it's not that hard."
At this, the Twilight Forest residents could no longer sit still.
Everyone knew that Continent One was the weakest of all continents. Admitting that Twilight Forest was weaker than Continent One?
Wasn't that an insult to them?
"Fine, let's bet! Who's afraid of who? Just don't cry when you lose!" the Twilight Forest residents shouted aggressively.
Seeing them agree, Hu Tiancheng's face broke into a smile.
He looked at the Twilight Forest residents and pondered for a moment.
"Alright then, if Curtis wins, we from Continent One will leave Twilight Forest immediately and never set foot here again."
"But if Lin Fan wins, then you can no longer drive us away. Even if we settle down in Twilight Forest and build our lives here, you must not stop us. You also cannot refuse fair trade with us."
"What do you think?" Hu Tiancheng raised an eyebrow at the Twilight Forest residents.
The Twilight Forest residents exchanged glances, seemingly considering the proposal.
Although they believed that Curtis could not possibly lose, the thought of people from Continent One settling in Twilight Forest made them uncomfortable.
As they hesitated, a few bold Blue Star residents sneered.
"Sigh~ So in the end, you're just afraid."
"All that talk about Curtis being able to crush Lin Fan in an instant—just empty words to give yourselves courage, huh?"
"Hilarious. What's the fun in deceiving yourselves?"
Their taunts provoked the hot-tempered Twilight Forest residents, instantly igniting their anger.
"Fine! Let's bet! Who's afraid of you? No matter how strong Lin Fan is, he's just a human from Continent One. How could he possibly defeat Curtis?"
"Exactly! He's just a worthless nobody. What, is he supposed to defy the heavens or something?!"
The Twilight Forest residents joined in, one after another.
"His opponent is the clan leader of the Naga clan. There's no way he can win."
"We'll bet! If we don't, it'll look like we're afraid of Continent One."
With that, their confidence surged, and they were determined to see this through to the end.
Seeing the Twilight Forest residents agree, Hu Tiancheng smiled warmly.
"In that case, it's settled." With that, he turned to look at Lin Fan, who was currently battling Curtis.
To be honest, he wasn't entirely confident in the outcome of this fight.
After all, from the very beginning, Lin Fan had been at a disadvantage.
But Hu Tiancheng had an inexplicable faith in Lin Fan.
Even though Lin Fan was currently struggling, Hu Tiancheng firmly believed he would win.
He looked at Lin Fan, a peculiar light shining in his eyes.
There was no other reason for it—because the man before him had never lost.
After all, he's Lin Fan!
. . . . .
Lin Fan was still locked in battle with Curtis.
He had no idea that his fight had triggered so much chaos outside.
Right now, all he wanted was to finish Curtis off quickly and head to the Naga Temple to find Lilian and the others.
Every second he delayed, those two girls would be in greater danger.
He wasn't sure how strong the Black Maid was, but considering that she could move freely between Twilight Forest and the main world without a portal, her power had to be extraordinary.
So, he had to end this fight as fast as possible.
Lin Fan activated the Nine Nether Buff around his body and abruptly changed his attack strategy, instantly pulling away from Curtis.
His speed was so fast that Curtis was caught off guard.
Curtis hesitated for a moment, puzzled as to why Lin Fan had suddenly retreated.
The next second, the Nine Nether Energy around Lin Fan erupted completely. Holding his Anonymity - Wood -, he watched as a surge of purple energy crawled up the blade. The power of the Nine Nether Buff was fully concentrated.
At that instant, the frenzied Curtis suddenly sobered up. His face turned pale as he sensed the Nine Nether Energy emanating from Lin Fan—his heart pounded in shock.
"This is… the power of the Nine-Serpent King?!"
The moment he spoke, Curtis immediately retreated, widening the distance between them. He no longer attacked recklessly—because he knew just how powerful the Nine-Serpent King was.
"You— are you the Nine-Serpent King?" Curtis widened his eyes in disbelief as he looked at Lin Fan.
Lin Fan gripped [Anonymity - Wood -] tightly, his expression ice-cold.
"No, I'm just a human from Continent One." He spoke calmly.
But in the next moment—he moved—!
In the blink of an eye, Lin Fan appeared right beside Curtis—so fast that Curtis couldn't react at all.
So fast!
His heart pounded as he turned his head quickly, trying to track Lin Fan's movements.
He saw, with terrifying clarity, Lin Fan's blade slicing toward him—but he had no way to dodge the strike.
Countless thoughts exploded in Curtis's mind at once.
How much damage would a strike from the Nine-Serpent King do!?
Would he die in an instant!?
His mind was in complete disarray. Just before the blade touched his neck, he roared out in desperation—
"Don't you want to know what happened to them?!"
Lin Fan's motion halted. The hand holding the blade stopped mid-air.
However, the edge of the blade was already pressed against Curtis's throat.
"I'll give you one chance. Speak." Lin Fan's voice was icy as he stared down at Curtis.
Curtis gasped for breath, staring in fear at the blade at his throat.
In his 4,000 years of life as a Naga, this was the closest he had ever come to death.
Even the Black Maid had never truly tried to kill him.
His breath came in ragged gasps, his heart gripped by pure terror.
"Lady Maid went to the Naga Temple first… she met with Lady Roland… then not long after, the Saintess arrived…"
"Cut the nonsense—get to the point! Are they safe or not?" Lin Fan's eyes flashed with fury.
That look sent a chilling pressure through Curtis's entire body—his breath hitched, his entire being frozen in terror.
"Lady Roland… wouldn't kill Lady Maid… as for the Saintess… I don't know…"
Lin Fan's expression instantly darkened. A sinister light gleamed in his eyes as he glared at Curtis.
"If either of them is in even the slightest danger—I'll bury the entire Naga Temple with them!"
