Chapter 644: Cameraman
"You may come out now." Anthony's voice echoed within the endless depths of the Mirror Dimension.
But nothing stirred. For a brief moment, it seemed as though he was merely speaking to himself, his words dissipating into the emptiness.
But then, a subtle distortion appeared. Space itself trembled, a faint crack splintering open in the reflective dimension, like glass breaking under pressure. Through that fracture stepped a figure with calm, deliberate strides, as though he belonged here just as much as Anthony did.
The man was clothed in a tailored black and grey checkered suit that seemed stitched to perfection. Atop his head rested a black fedora hat, angled ever so slightly, yet worn with such natural authority that it resembled a crown bestowed by the heavens themselves.
His face was obscured entirely by a featureless mask, a strange and unsettling thing that moved as his lips moved, as though it were not worn but fused into his skin. The mask smiled when he smiled, breathed when he breathed, and spoke when he spoke, giving the illusion of a face replaced rather than hidden.
Black gloves covered his hands, and his posture radiated composure, his demeanor perfectly calm. His presence was not loud, but it was undeniable, like a shadow that existed everywhere yet nowhere.
He smiled, if such a thing could be called a smile beneath that strange mask, directly at Anthony.
He was known across the world by a single, enigmatic name: StreamGhost.
"We finally meet, Null Anthony," StreamGhost spoke, his voice smooth, calm, and unshaken, almost like velvet gliding through the air.
"Indeed, we finally meet," Anthony replied in an equally calm tone, his expression betraying neither excitement nor wariness. "It seems you have quite the fondness for broadcasting things… for recording and displaying events to the world. Almost everything you do circulates online."
StreamGhost gave a small, knowing nod. "I believe the world should witness your greatness. Not every person in history can rightfully be called the Favoured Child of the Heavens, after all."
Anthony's eyes studied the man before him.
He had long heard whispers of StreamGhost, though only through the digital veil of the internet. For one such as Anthony, who often immersed himself in that virtual landscape, the name was impossible to avoid.
But the stories and rumors carried no real substance. No one knew who StreamGhost truly was, what his abilities entailed, or even what his goals might be. He was spoken of only in fragments and speculation, regarded almost like a myth, a phantom that hovered behind the lens of reality.
He was already classified as one of the great mysteries of the modern world by those on the internet.
But to Anthony, who possessed authority over information itself, all it would take was a single thought, and the veil surrounding this man would be torn away.
"I never imagined the day would arrive when someone would be able to sense me," StreamGhost admitted, his tone remaining calm but his words tinged with surprise. "Such a thing should be impossible. The class I awakened ensures I remain unseen."
Anthony tilted his head slightly, his curiosity piqued. He hadn't initially intended to pry into the man's true identity. Some mysteries, after all, held their charm in remaining unknown.
But temptation gnawed at him. He activated Authority of Information, not to unveil every secret StreamGhost possessed, but merely to glimpse the class he had awakened.
The truth appeared before Anthony's eyes in a neat revelation:
[Name: StreamGhost
Class: Cameraman]
Anthony's lips curled into a faint smile. The class name appeared deceptively mundane, laughably simple even, and yet Anthony knew better than to take it at face value.
This was the man who had just breached the Mirror Dimension, a place so isolated and sealed that not even his father, the Sword Saint, nor his mother, the Elemental Queen, could intrude upon it. Such a feat demanded more than a mere trick.
"You mean… your Cameraman class?" Anthony asked softly, a trace of amusement lacing his tone.
StreamGhost's masked eyes narrowed ever so slightly. The reaction was telling. Many had speculated he wielded some form of technomancy, a class rooted in technology, but the truth, that his class was simply called Cameraman, was something dismissed and overlooked by all who had ever considered it.
But beneath its unassuming label lay something far more profound. Something he himself had only come to understand much later in life, long after he had resigned himself to obscurity.
"It seems you know this, Favoured Child of the Heavens," StreamGhost said, his composure wavering just slightly. "But how? How could you possibly know?" His voice, though steady, carried genuine surprise. Nobody knew his identity. Nobody could possibly link his ordinary self to the phantom known as StreamGhost.
Anthony's calm smile deepened. "Let's just say the Heavens told me. If you find that hard to believe, I could always request your true name from them. Would you like me to do that?"
A long silence followed. StreamGhost did not dare treat Anthony's words as a mere bluff.
"But I must admit," Anthony continued, his voice even and steady, "your class is far too powerful to be brushed aside with the simple name Cameraman. Truly, it is broken. You can film across outer space without difficulty, keep pace with planetary beings moving at impossible speeds, and traverse freely into any place, whether sealed, hidden, or forbidden. You can enter and exit anywhere at will. That, I must confess, is impressive."
StreamGhost remained silent, but inwardly, he acknowledged the truth of Anthony's words.
The Cameraman class granted him abilities that bordered on the divine: Omnipresence and Omnipotence, but only within the act of filming.
Through Omnipresence, he could be anywhere his lens needed to be, transcending all barriers and dimensions. Through Omnipotence, he could keep pace with, adapt to, and even match the very beings he recorded, no matter how powerful they were.
These abilities were absolute, yet paradoxically restricted. For the moment he ceased filming, all of it vanished, leaving him an ordinary man once more.
Even now, the reason he could intrude upon Anthony's Mirror Dimension was not because of some hidden trick, but because his Omnipresence permitted him to bypass its impossibility the moment he decided it was something worth recording.
And his class did not stop there. It granted him Immortality in the truest, most literal sense.
As long as he held the title of Cameraman, he could never die. Not through time, not through space, not even through sheer annihilation. Not even Anthony could kill him outright without resorting to his Divine flames or the Authority of Severance. Even Absolute Stasis, the power that froze everything into nothingness, was useless against StreamGhost, when Anthony used it earlier.
Online, there is a popular joke and meme people share that say things like, "The Cameraman never dies" "The Cameraman is eternal"
Those lighthearted words were, in fact, the literal truth.
StreamGhost was that eternal Cameraman.
But despite the immeasurable scope of his abilities, there remained heavy restrictions. His powers only awakened when he had something he truly wanted to film, and they could never be weaponized in the conventional sense.
He could not simply create riches for himself, or summon infinite mana crystals, or reshape the world for personal gain. All creations and manifestations faded back into nothingness once he stopped recording. His role was, and always would be, to stand behind the scenes.
Still, if danger arose, if someone attempted to take his life, then the Cameraman's Omnipotence could turn upon them. He could erase a threat in an instant, reduce them to nothing more than a memory with but a thought.
Although he carried restrictions, to StreamGhost they mattered little. For as long as his lens was active, he was untouchable. For as long as his class existed, death itself was something he could mock.
