Chapter 56: A Path Revealed
The morning sun streamed through the open windows of the royal chambers, bathing the room in golden light. Anórien sat at the edge of the ornate wooden table, his hands clasped together in thought. Galadriel stood beside him, her silver-gold hair shimmering in the sunlight, her expression both serene and concerned.
They had agreed to speak with Arinyanénar as soon as the time felt right. That moment had come.
"Do you think he's ready to hear this?" Galadriel asked softly, placing a reassuring hand on Anórien's shoulder.
Anórien nodded, his fiery orange-red eyes meeting hers. "He must be. This is his path now, and we can't shield him from it forever."
A servant was sent to fetch Arinyanénar, and before long, he entered the chamber. At fifty years of age, he stood tall and lean, his strength evident in his every movement. His white hair gleamed like moonlight, and his silver-gold eyes carried a spark of curiosity as he approached his parents.
"You summoned me?" he asked, his voice calm but tinged with curiosity.
Anórien gestured for him to sit across from them. Galadriel remained standing, her presence as steady as a beacon.
"Yes," Anórien began, his tone measured. "We need to speak to you about something of great importance."
Arinyanénar sat down, his gaze shifting between his parents. "What is it?"
Galadriel took a step closer, her voice gentle yet firm. "You've proven yourself a warrior, my son, time and again. Your bravery and skill are unmatched, and your spirit is strong. But there is more to a warrior's journey than battle."
Arinyanénar tilted his head slightly, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his face. "I don't understand. Have I done something wrong?"
"No," Anórien said firmly. "Far from it. You've made us proud in every way. But there is a path ahead of you, one that requires more than strength—it demands worthiness. A weapon worthy of your potential must be forged, and the only way to create such a thing is to earn it."
Arinyanénar's curiosity deepened, his brow furrowing. "Earn it? How?"
Anórien leaned forward, his voice steady. "I prayed to my mother, Arien, for guidance. She came to me in a vision. She told me that for you to wield a weapon as powerful as Solarion, you must pass a test set by Aulë himself, the great smith of the Valar."
The weight of the words hung in the air, and for a moment, Arinyanénar said nothing. Then he straightened, his expression resolute. "What is this test?"
Galadriel answered, her voice tinged with both pride and caution. "We do not know. Aulë will decide when the time is right, and the trial will come to you. It will not be easy, Arinyanénar. It will test everything you are—your strength, your wisdom, and your heart."
"And if I fail?" he asked quietly.
Anórien's gaze softened, though his tone remained firm. "Then the weapon will not be forged, and the path before you will change. But I do not believe you will fail. You are my son, and you are capable of far more than you realize."
Arinyanénar sat in silence for a moment, absorbing their words. Finally, he nodded, his silver-gold eyes gleaming with determination. "Then I will prepare. Whatever this test is, I will face it and prove myself worthy."
Galadriel stepped forward, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We believe in you, Arinyanénar. But remember, this is not just about strength. The greatest warriors are those who balance power with wisdom."
Anórien rose from his seat, his towering presence radiating quiet strength. "You have time to grow, to train, and to learn. When the moment comes, you will face it not just as my son, but as a warrior of your own making."
Arinyanénar stood as well, his expression resolute. "Thank you, both of you. I won't let you down."
As he left the chamber, the determination in his stride was unmistakable. Galadriel watched him go, a mixture of pride and worry in her gaze.
"He will face many challenges," she said softly, turning to Anórien.
"He will," Anórien agreed, his fiery gaze fixed on the doorway through which his son had disappeared. "But I will prepare him for whatever comes. He will not face it alone."
Together, they stood in the golden light of the morning, united in their resolve to guide Arinyanénar toward the destiny that awaited him.
