MHA: The Lawbreaker

Chapter 6: Two Pops

And I saw her.

A girl. Fully visible.

Golden-green hair tumbled in wild, messy waves, catching the light like woven sunlight. Her wide, glassy eyes locked onto mine, pupils shrinking in pure, unfiltered shock. She looked… real. Skin flushed, lips slightly parted like even she couldn't believe what was happening.

She wasn't just invisible. She was beautiful. She was absolutely f***ing stunning.

A sharp breath. Her hands flew to her chest, grasping at the fabric of her uniform. "Wha—wait. Wait, wait, wait—"

I blinked. My Quirk re-engaged. And just like that, she was gone again.

Back to being an echo in space.

"…Oh, shit."

Toru's breathing was shaky and uneven. I could hear it, even though she was nowhere to be seen. The space in front of me shifted—a subtle movement, like someone fidgeting in place.

Then, her voice, was small but desperate.

"Do it again."

I frowned. "What?"

"Your Quirk." Her tone wavered, caught between urgency and something else—something raw. "Do it again. Make me visible."

That threw me off.

I expected her to freak out, maybe yell at me for seeing her. But instead, she sounded… pleading.

I exhaled, rubbing the back of my neck. "It's not that simple. I wasn't even trying to—"

"Please."

That stopped me cold.

There was something in her voice—something heavy. A weight I hadn't expected.

I didn't know what it was like to go through your entire life without ever seeing your own reflection. No mirrors, no pictures, not even a shadow. Just an existence proven only by touch and sound.

I hesitated. Then, with a slow breath, I reached for my Quirk.

And there she was again.

A girl. Fully visible. Fully real.

Toru sucked in a sharp breath. Her fingers hovered near her face, trembling as they traced the outline of her cheeks, and her lips—like she was memorizing them for the first time.

"This is me?"

I swallowed, watching as she slowly turned her hands over, palms up, then down. As if testing to see if she'd fade away again.

"I mean, isn't it a bit obvious?"

I nudged her arm.

She flinched. Blinked. Then, just as quickly, threw herself at me.

"'Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!" She practically vibrated... against me, gripping my shoulders. "I CAN SEE MYSELF! I HAVE HAIR! I HAVE HANDS!"

I coughed, half out of shock, half because she was really close. "Yeah, you do. You're a human, I'mma give you a... silver star."

Her head snapped up. "How do I look? Am I cute? Wait—do I have a weird nose? Be honest."

I blinked. "I mean, you're—"

"I KNEW IT! I HAVE A WEIRD NOSE!"

"N—"

SLAM.

"QUIET DOWN."

Everyone turned.

A man lay on the floor in a bright yellow sleeping bag, his messy black hair spilling onto the ground. His eyes, half-lidded and uninterested, swept over the class.

"Too loud," he muttered, zipping the sleeping bag open and standing up. "It took you all eight seconds to shut up. That won't work in heroics."

The class exchanged uncertain glances.

"Go put these on and head to the training grounds," he continued, tossing a bundle of gym uniforms onto the podium. "We're doing a Quirk Assessment Test."

"Please do shut up and come to testing ground-3 in due short notice."

"Hey. We're so not done with this conversation."

I sighed.

The guy with the yellow hair and those weird electricity signs on his hair came up to me.

"Yo," he said, pausing as he pulled on his gym shirt. "What was that back there?"

I raised a brow. "What was what?"

"You and that invisible girl who suddenly became visible," he said, smirking slightly. "She kinda… freaked out. In a good way, I think?"

Another... interestingly coloured guy, red hair, a few lockers down, glanced over. "Yeah, man, she sounded really hyped about something. You do something crazy?"

I hesitated for half a second. Just enough for them to notice.

"Uh-huh, you did something."

Silence. I sighed as I gestured to them to my eyes and then to them.

Then—

"…WHAT?!"

"You saw her?"

"Like, actually saw her?"

"She has hair?"

"She's a person," I deadpanned.

"I mean, like—what does she look like?"

I exhaled, rubbing the back of my neck. "She looked… normal? Y'know. A person. With a face. And hair. And hands."

"Damn. That's gotta be huge for her."

I glanced at him. He was right. I hadn't thought about it much—about how big of a deal this was for her. She hadn't seen herself since she was four, that would be depressing.

The red-haired guy nudged me with his elbow. "She's gonna be all over you now, man."

"I don't even know your name....s"

The red-haired guy blinked, then let out a sheepish laugh. "Oh, right! My bad, dude. Name's Eijiro Kirishima!"

The yellow-haired guy grinned. "Denki Kaminari. Nice to meet ya!"

I nodded. "Kaito Arakawa."

Kaminari crossed his arms. "So, Kaito—buddy, pal, new best friend—how does it feel knowing you just changed a girl's life forever?"

Kirishima let out a low whistle. "Man, you might've just unlocked her villain arc if you stop using your Quirk on her."

"Okay, that's all, shut up. Girls gossip less than you."

"Are you serious, man? This shit is so enterta—"

[Law Of Vibration]

Kaminari's mouth kept moving, but no sound came out.

His eyes widened in sheer panic. He clutched his throat, trying to speak, but nothing—not even a whisper—escaped his lips.

Kirishima frowned, his mouth moving—but just like Kaminari, no sound came out.

His brows furrowed. He tried again. Nothing.

Then, slowly, realization dawned in his eyes.

He clapped his hands together—no sound. Stomped the ground—silent. Slapped Kaminari on the back—still nothing.

Kaminari whipped toward me, horrified.

"DUDE, YOU BROKE SOUND," his voice didn't echo because, well, there was no vibration for it to travel on. But he still shouted anyway, pure instinct.

Kirishima grabbed my shoulders, shaking me like I personally erased his sense of self. His mouth moved rapidly, eyebrows doing acrobatics, but no words reached my ears.

I smirked. "What was that? Didn't catch it."

Both of them glared at me, then at each other, then back at me.

Kaminari started frantically flailing his arms in exaggerated gestures, trying to mime something. Kirishima followed, pointing to his throat, shaking his head, then throwing up his hands like why, bro, why?

I crossed my arms. "Y'know, it's kinda peaceful like this."

Kirishima groaned—silently.

Kaminari collapsed to his knees, looking up at the ceiling like he was in a tragic anime death scene. He grabbed Kirishima dramatically, mouthing something that definitely looked like, "Tell Jirou… I loved her…"

I rolled my eyes. We just came to this class, and he already fell for someone?

Snap.

The moment I re-enabled the Law of Vibration, their words hit me like an over-pressurized dam bursting.

"—SO UNFAIR, MAN!"

"WHAT THE HELL, BRO?!"

"I ALMOST DIED IN SILENCE—"

"THAT WAS LIKE FIVE SECONDS!"

Kirishima panted. "I have never been that quiet in my life."

I sighed, rubbing the back of my neck. "I'm sorry, I thought that was the cue for you to shut the f*** up?"

Kaminari shot to his feet, jabbing a finger at me. "Bro, you just turned off sound. Do you have any idea how cursed that is?!"

Kirishima shook his head, still looking unsettled. "Yeah, that was actually kinda freaky. I clapped—nothing. Stomped the ground—still nothing."

Kaminari grabbed his shoulders. "Dude. We live in a world where people breathe fire and explode things with their hands, and that somehow felt unnatural!"

Kirishima huffed a laugh. "Yeah, but admit it—it's kinda cool."

Shaking my head, I turned back to my locker, swapping out my uniform for the gym clothes.

At least it wasn't boring. I looked at the middle of the room, a short guy with Thanos' balls on his head. He was peeking through a hole? I slowly walked up to him as I grabbed him by his... balls.

"What you think you're doing, Chibi Thanos? I want you the hell away from here and if I see you again, I will k- no, I'm not the right to give warnings and bullshit. Do that again and you'll regret it."

I threw him onto the ground, not giving him time to respond.

{Unbeknownst to my guy}

[Locker Room-Girls]

The girls had... mingled far before expected time.

Toru hadn't stopped trembling since she'd seen herself. She sat on the bench, gripping her gym uniform like it was the only thing keeping her tethered to reality.

Mina Ashido, in the middle of changing, noticed first. "Uh… Toru? You good?"

Toru let out a breathy laugh—one of those stunned, borderline delirious ones. "I… I saw myself."

The room went still.

Momo Yaoyorozu, mid-buttoning her gym jacket, turned with a frown. "What do you mean?"

"I mean—I saw myself!" Toru practically vibrated with excitement, grabbing at her arms, her face—anything that reminded her she existed. "Like, really saw myself. Hair, skin, everything!"

Kyoka Jiro stopped tying her shoes, blinking. "Wait. Back up. How?"

Toru's breathing was still uneven, but there was an undercurrent of awe in her voice. "Kaito—Kaito Arakawa, the new guy! His Quirk… it broke whatever's keeping me invisible! I was just there!"

Silence. Then—

Mina screamed.

"WHAT?! Girl, WHAT?! You mean to tell me you finally got to see your gorgeous self and you're just casually dropping this information?!" She practically tackled Toru, shaking her shoulders. "Tell me everything!"

Toru laughed, voice cracking with something between joy and disbelief. "It was so weird! I—I didn't know what to expect! But I looked… I looked real."

Momo pressed a hand to her chest, her expression softening. "Toru… that's incredible."

Jiro leaned back against the lockers, eyebrows raised. "So what's the verdict? Cute? Gorgeous? Model-tier stunning?"

Toru hesitated for just a moment before whispering, almost afraid to believe it:

"…I think I'm pretty."

Mina squealed, full-on jumping in place. "I KNEW IT! I KNEW YOU WERE HOT!"

Jiro smirked. "You doubted?"

Toru groaned, hiding her face. "No, I—I just… I never knew! I haven't seen myself since I was four! I didn't even know what hair color I had!"

Momo stepped forward, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "How do you feel?"

Toru let out a slow, shaky breath. "Like my entire world just changed."

The room fell into a thoughtful silence.

Then Mina grinned. "Sooooo…"

Toru narrowed her eyes. "So…?"

Mina wiggled her eyebrows. "Kaito, huh?"

Jiro smirked. "Yeah, I was about to say."

Toru turned bright red—not that they could see it. "W-What?! No! It's not like that!"

"Oh, come on." Mina flopped dramatically onto the bench. "The dude literally showed you yourself. That's gotta mean something, right?"

Toru groaned, burying her face in her hands.

Toru let out a strangled noise. "STOP."

Mina shot finger guns at the air where Toru's head probably was. "Don't worry, girl. I'll be your personal wingwomen."

U.A. Training Grounds – Quirk Assessment Test

The class gathered in neat lines, murmuring excitedly—or nervously—as Aizawa stood before us, arms crossed.
