MHA: The Lawbreaker

Chapter 4: Entrance Exam [2]

[Law of friction]

I smirked as I picked up the momentum, I will continue to accumulate speed as I progress. I scanned my surrounding and then, click, I found a three-pointer, heading straight at me.

I reactivated friction as my foot struck the pavement, redirecting all my built-up momentum into a controlled burst. My body didn't skid, didn't slow—it just transitioned seamlessly into movement with full control.

The three-pointer locked onto me, its mechanical optics flashing red as it raised one of its arms, preparing to attack.

Too slow.

With friction fully restored, I twisted my body mid-sprint, pivoting on my heel and launching myself forward. The bot swung its heavy metal arm down, but I was already gone, sliding underneath its bulk like a ghost.

With a flick of my wrist, I disabled another law.

[Law of Durability]—on its left knee joint.

CRACK.

The moment my fist connected, the metal crumpled like cheap plastic. The bot lurched, its entire frame buckling as it lost balance.

I didn't wait for it to hit the ground.

My hand found the pavement, and in a single, fluid motion, I pushed off, flipping over its collapsing frame. Before it could fully crash, I reached out—

[Law of Gravity]—Disabled.

The bot froze midair.

Then I re-enabled it.

WHAM.

The sudden gravitational whiplash slammed it into the concrete, cratering the pavement beneath it. Dust and debris shot out in all directions as its systems flickered and died.

+3 points. First one down, more to go.

I dashed forward, my eyes scanning for the next target. The battlefield was a controlled storm of destruction—robots collapsing under the assault of examinees, debris flying, alarms blaring.

Another three-pointer loomed ahead, its frame reinforced, bulkier than the last. Its mechanical limbs whirred as it recalibrated, preparing to fire a barrage of projectiles.

Tch. Annoying.

I flicked my fingers— [Law of Inertia]—Disabled.

The bot's movement stopped dead. Its arms, mid-launch, froze in place as if time itself had paused for it. I took my time walking up to it, rolling my shoulders.

Then— Re-enabled.

The machine lurched violently forward, the sudden shift in momentum throwing its entire body off balance. Before it could compensate, I was already moving.

I leaped, twisting midair, and drove my heel into its torso— [Law of Conservation of Energy]—Broken.

The moment my strike connected, the stored energy didn't transfer—it multiplied.

BOOM.

The bot didn't just break—it exploded.

Scraps of metal scattered like confetti, the shockwave kicking up a cloud of dust around me.

+3 points. Phew. "NEXT!"

I looked beside me, it was Bakugo, looking at me with widened eyes, only for a split second as he gritted his teeth, I could hear him mutte- my bad, shouting "DIEEEEEEEE!" as he blasted away.

More scanning, no, this wasn't fast enough.

[Law of Buoyancy]

I began to float freely as I flew up into the sky, trying to spot my next victim. A wide smile surfaced on my face as I looked at the cluster of robot, all together, being fought groups of people.

I hovered above the battlefield, the wind whipping against my face as I took in the chaos below. The examinees were locked in combat, their attacks clashing against the swarm of machines, some barely holding their ground, others taking down bots with brute force or precision strikes.

A cluster of three-pointers and one-pointers had converged on a group of examinees, forcing them back with relentless fire. Most were dodging, but some were already on the ground, struggling to recover.

Perfect.

I flexed my fingers, rolling my neck as I prepared to dismantle this entire mess in one go.

[Law of Buoyancy]—Re-enabled.

Gravity welcomed me back as I descended like a meteor, angling my body straight toward the cluster. The wind roared in my ears as I fell, faster and faster—

Then I disabled another law.

[Law of Aerodynamics]—Gone.

My speed didn't just increase—it became absurd. No drag, no resistance, no force working against me. I was a bullet cutting through the air, a missile plummeting straight into the heart of the battlefield.

The bots noticed too late.

BOOM.

I crashed into the ground like a living warhead, the shockwave erupting outward in a violent burst. The sheer impact flipped several robots over, sending them tumbling like dominoes. The ones that survived scrambled to recalibrate, their mechanical limbs whirring as they struggled to process what had just happened.

I smirked. Let's make this even worse for them.

[Law of Friction]—Disabled.

The ground beneath them became an ice rink. Wheels screeched uselessly, legs skidded out from under them, entire machines toppled over like helpless cattle. The battlefield turned into a comedy show of malfunctioning metal, their attempts to right themselves utterly futile.

I stalked forward, lazily cracking my knuckles.

[Law of Structural Integrity]—Broken.

A simple flick of my wrist, and the nearest bot simply collapsed. No explosions, no sparks—just metal crumbling into a useless pile. One by one, I reached out, deconstructing the opposition with surgical precision, my smile growing wider with each effortless takedown.

The point counter on my wrist device ticked up.

+6 points. +9 points. +12 points. +15 points.... it went on and on, I now had 80?

"Who is this guy? THAT WAS MY ROBOT!"

"He stole mine too!"

"Man, that was about to be my first one yet! I'm going to get disqualified at this point. That stupid mother-" Due to some issues, the full extent of his comment could not be heard.

A distant explosion caught my attention. My gaze snapped to the source—Bakugo, obliterating a group of robots. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. The robots scattered as he was breaking through them like paper. His face, an animalistic rage, damn, he gotta chill.

Was it at the robots? Or at me?

Then the ground shook.

A loud metallic sound reached my ears as the sun shone on me no more. It was something massive... wink, wink.

The Zero Pointer had arrived.

"Is it that big? It looks like it might take some time along with it. Might as well go for the style points."

"A slow dismantle it is, then."

[Law Of Gravity]

I floated up like a rocket into the sky, as I landed on the zero-pointer's hand. Wait, what was that law again? It was so op, I have to try that. Probability, yes!

[Law Of Probability]

...

I punched the robot... IT IS NOT WORKING!

I can't do it, this was the first time I tried to do it, so I understand. Does this mean it takes more power than what I can give?

So probability is a tough bitch, huh? I sighed as I took a deep breath, feeling the energy get ripped out of me now, I was overusing Lawbreaker. Well, f*** that.

[Law of Conservation of Energy]

I grinned, feeling the energy ripple through my muscles. The Zero Pointer's arm was massive, bigger than most buildings, yet as I gripped it—

It didn't matter.

I pulled.

Metal screamed as servos snapped, gears twisted, and reinforced steel tore apart like wet paper. The arm ripped from its socket, sparks flying like fireworks. The Zero Pointer lurched, its body momentarily thrown off balance from the sheer audacity of what just happened.

The battlefield fell silent.

For a brief moment, nobody moved. Nobody spoke.

Then—

"HE RIPPED OFF THE ARM!!"

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS GUY?!"

"Did he just—no, no, that's—WHAT?!"

Even the robots stopped for a second, like they, too, needed to process what had just occurred. The zero-point reached out his hand in an attempt to grab me. Lol.

[Law of Inertia]

[Law of Inertia]—Re-enabled.

WHIPLASH.

The same force it had tried to use against me? I turned it against itself.

The Zero Pointer's own motion backfired, sending its entire upper body tilting violently to one side. Its weight distribution was screwed, its balance shattered.

The result?

It staggered.

Then it tripped.

A 50-meter-tall, city-leveling war machine, flailing like a drunk before plummeting face-first into the battlefield.

BOOOOOOOOM!!!

The shockwave was immense. A tidal wave of dust, metal, and debris erupted outward, swallowing everything in its path. Even the remaining robots were caught in the destruction, crushed beneath the sheer weight of their fallen king.

And me?

I floated just above the slaughter, arms crossed, watching the aftermath unfold like an artist admiring his work. I am not much of an artist though.

The battlefield was silent.

Not just from the examinees—no, even the announcers, the faculty, even the damn robots seemed too stunned to speak.

Then—

My wrist device flickered.

+50 points.

For what? This was zero points, right? They did say something about rescue points. Maybe it's that. I quickly got off the robot as I dusted myself.

The dust hadn't even settled yet, but the test was clearly over.

The battlefield? A wreck. Robots? Scrapped. The Zero Pointer? A literal fallen titan sprawled across the cityscape. And me? Standing (well, floating) above it all, dusting off my suit like I just finished some light yard work.

Then came the voices.

"What the hell did we just watch?"

"He took down the Zero Pointer like it was NOTHING!"

"Nah, forget the Zero Pointer—he was breaking physics like a damn cheat code!"

"Wasn't this supposed to be a normal entrance exam?!"

"Number One Hero, my ass. My chances are completely ruined."

Yeah, I could hear all of them. The shock. The disbelief. The fear. But none of it mattered. The results were clear.

I floated back to the ground, my feet touching down as my wrist device flashed. Final score: 130 points.

Huh. Honestly? Expected worse. I've outdone myself.

I glanced around at the remaining examinees—some of them still struggling to comprehend what they just saw. Others? Just staring at me like I wasn't human. Which, fair.

Then there was Bakugo.

Still breathing hard, hands clenched into fists, smoke rising from his palms. His face twisted in pure frustration, like he was barely holding back the urge to explode me along with the wreckage.

"Tch." He spat to the side, then glared at me.

I exhaled, my shoulders sagging slightly as the adrenaline began to fade.

My body felt… heavy. Like I had just pulled an all-nighter while running a marathon. My limbs ached in a way that wasn't normal—not from muscle fatigue, but from something deeper, something more fundamental.

Overusing Lawbreaker always did this. The strain of dismantling reality itself wasn't just tiring—it was draining. Disabling physical laws? Easy. But the sheer number of times I'd done it in such rapid succession was catching up to me. It had a very confusing mechanic, while using it, it would not show any sign of exhaustion on me, pushing beyond my limits—then after, it would all hit at once. I wiped my forehead as beads of sweat rolled down.

I moved my shoulders, trying to shake off the fatigue, but my vision wavered for a split second. Damn. I needed to sit down before I passed out in the middle of all this wreckage.

Before I could take a step, a loud, static-filled voice blared through the speakers.

"AND THAT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IS THE END OF THE EXAM! HOPE YOU ALL HAD FUN!"

Present Mic's voice echoed across the battlefield, signaling the official conclusion. The examinees, some still frozen in shock, others groaning on the ground, finally started moving again.

I let out a breath, shoving my hands into my pockets as I took one last look at the destruction I'd caused.

Yeah. That was definitely overkill.

My vision blurred slightly. My head felt light.

I rolled my neck, trying to shake off the sluggishness, but even that motion felt slower than usual.

"Hahh…" I took a deep breath, steadying myself.

My suit, still immaculate, felt like a second skin—one I was barely holding myself up in. The damage wasn't visible, but I could feel it. A deep, gnawing exhaustion that pulled at my core.

I forced a smirk onto my face. No way I was letting anyone see how spent I actually was.

But damn.

I really overdid it. I put my hands on my hips as I stretched my back, crack, oh shit, that is good~.

[I will just post a chapter so that you can see what each law does.]
