Chapter 16: 16
The sun streamed through the large windows of U.A. High School, casting a warm glow inside Class 1A's homeroom. The students were engaged in their usual morning chatter, waiting for their next lesson to begin.
"I wonder what today's lesson will be," Kaminari mused, tapping his pencil against his desk. "Combat training? Quirk development? Maybe a surprise test?"
Jirou rolled her eyes. "You say that like you'd actually be prepared for any of those."
"H-hey, I've been keeping up! Sort of" Kaminari grinned sheepishly.
Todoroki sat quietly, reading a book, while Iida adjusted his glasses.
Ashido leaned forward, resting her chin on her hands. "I hope it's quirk training. The last session was fun! Aizawa-sensei really put us through our paces."
Sero nodded. "Yeah, Eraserhead's training style is brutal, but effective."
Midoriya, as always, was taking notes, muttering about past training regimens and possible ways to improve. Uraraka chuckled at his enthusiasm but didn't interrupt.
Meanwhile, Bakugo sat with his arms crossed, looking as uninterested as ever. "Tch. As long as we're actually doing something, I don't care."
Just then, the classroom door slid open, and Aizawa stepped in, his usual tired expression in place. "Settle down," he said in his monotone voice, causing the class to quickly straighten up.
Aizawa walked to the front, hands in his pockets. "Today, you're getting a new instructor."
Murmurs erupted across the class. A new instructor? Who could it be?
Before anyone could ask questions, the door opened again, and a tall figure stepped inside.
The classroom fell into stunned silence.
The man who entered was unlike anyone they had ever seen. Standing at an imposing height, he carried himself with an aura of quiet authority. His long crimson hair, flowing like strands of fire, contrasted sharply with his piercing golden eyes that seemed to shine with an almost divine intensity. His physique was powerful, built like a warrior and his composed demeanour made him seem almost regal.
For a moment, the students simply stared, captivated by his presence.
Then—
"Hoshigami-san!"
Midoriya's voice rang out in excitement, his eyes wide in recognition. The entire class turned toward him in confusion.
"Wait, you know him, Midoriya?" Uraraka asked.
Midoriya, still surprised, nodded rapidly. "Y-yeah! We met before! I—I didn't think I'd see him again"
Hoshigami Enrai turned his golden gaze toward Midoriya. There was a flicker of recognition in his expression, but he remained silent for a moment, observing the boy before finally speaking.
"Midoriya," he acknowledged with a slight nod.
The other students whispered among themselves.
"Deku knows this guy?"
"Who even is he?"
"I don't remember ever hearing about a teacher like this."
Hoshigami turned his attention back to the class, his voice smooth yet commanding.
"Greetings Everyone. My name is Hoshigami Enrai and I will be assisting in your combat training," he stated simply.
The room remained silent for a beat, as if processing his words, before gasps erupted.
"A new combat instructor?"
"What's his Quirk?"
"Why haven't we heard of him before?"
Before anyone could ask more, Bakugo scoffed, leaning back in his seat. "Tch. Just another extra."
Hoshigami's golden eyes landed on Bakugo, calm yet unyielding. "Boy, behave yourself."
Bakugo clicked his tongue. "Yeah? Or what? You gonna lecture me like some second-rate pro?"
A quiet intensity settled over the room.
Hoshigami took a single step forward. His gaze sharpened, and for the briefest moment, a suffocating pressure filled the air. It wasn't killing intent, nor was it pure aggression—it was something deeper, something inhumane.
Bakugo, despite his usual defiance, felt a shiver run down his spine. His muscles tensed, and for the first time in a long while, his instincts screamed at him , telling him to run away. Cold sweat trickled down his back. It was as if he was standing before an apex predator, one that can eradicate him at any time.
The rest of the class sensed it too. The sheer weight of Radahn's presence was unlike anything they had ever experienced.
And then—
The moment passed.
The pressure faded as quickly as it had come, and Hoshigami's expression remained as composed as ever.
Bakugo scowled, breaking eye contact. "Tch. Whatever."
Hoshigami said nothing more, simply turning back to the rest of the class.
Aizawa, who had been watching the interaction carefully, finally spoke. "Good. Now that introductions are out of the way, let's get started.
Hoshigami-san will teach you about combat , survivability and adaptability "
"Students , follow me. Today our lesson will be held in another room."
The students of Class 1-A followed Radahn as he led them toward the Advanced Combat Room, their footsteps echoing through the hallways. Murmurs spread among them—some excited, others sceptical.
The space was massive, designed to handle large-scale battles, with reinforced steel walls and an open floor littered with various obstacles meant to simulate different terrains. The ceiling stretched high, allowing room for aerial combat.
Radahn stood at the centre of the arena. His golden eyes swept over the students, reading them in ways they couldn't comprehend. He was dressed simply—black pants, no unnecessary accessories—but his mere presence carried an overwhelming pressure.
The students murmured among themselves, glancing at one another with curiosity and uncertainty.
Then, Radahn spoke.
"Today, I will assess your battle prowess."
The class immediately erupted in disbelief.
"Wait, you mean we're fighting you?" Kaminari asked.
"All of us at once?" Jiro added, blinking in confusion.
Radahn nodded. "Yes. You will all face me together."
A stunned silence filled the air.
"Is this guy serious?" Mineta muttered.
Even Todoroki raised a brow. "Taking on all of us at once… that's reckless."
Radahn remained unfazed. "If you want to become heroes, you must be prepared to face threats far beyond your level. Consider this a reality check."
Most of the students looked uneasy. Even though they were training to be pro heroes, taking on an opponent alone was one thing—facing someone who willingly challenged all of them at once was another.
But Bakugo… Bakugo was different.
He stood still, arms crossed, his sharp red eyes locked onto Radahn. Unlike the others, he didn't scoff or dismiss the challenge outright. Instead, he analysed the man standing before them. Something about Radahn was off—there was no arrogance, no false bravado. This guy knew he could take them all.
Bakugo scoffed, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "Tch. That guy's not normal. I don't know what it is, but… he's hiding something big."
And that alone made Bakugo's blood boil.
"Tch. Alright then" he muttered, rolling his shoulders. "You better not hold back."
Then, without warning—
BOOM!
Bakugo launched himself forward, an explosion propelling him straight toward Radahn.
"Kacchan Stop! We need a plan first!" yelled Midoriya but Bakugo paid him no attention and attacked Radahn
And in an instant—
Radahn moved.
His body twisted effortlessly, sidestepping Bakugo's charge without even turning to look at him. The moment Bakugo landed, he swung a follow-up right hook, aiming for Radahn's head.
But Radahn's hand shot up.
SMACK!
With a single open palm, Radahn caught Bakugo's fist mid-swing.
A shock ran through Bakugo's arm. It felt like he had punched a mountain.
"What—"
Before he could react, Radahn's grip tightened—
And in a flash, Bakugo was flung across the room.
He twisted in the air, barely managing to stabilize himself before landing on his feet. His heart pounded. That grip strength—no, that reaction speed—was unreal.
The entire class stared in shock.
Bakugo clenched his jaw. "He's no joke," he muttered.
Radahn simply cracked his knuckles.
"Who's next?"
The students of Class 1A stood frozen. The combat room, designed for high-intensity battles, suddenly felt too small. Bakugo's reckless charge had failed spectacularly, and now, all eyes were on the man standing at the centre of the battlefield.
Radahn didn't move from his spot. His golden eyes swept over them like a warlord surveying a battlefield.
"Next." His voice was calm, yet commanding.
The class exchanged uneasy glances.
"Damn it, you extras!" Bakugo growled, recovering from his throw. "Stop standing around and attack!"
That snapped them out of their daze.
Momo Yaoyorozu acted first.
"Jiro, Kaminari, ranged support!" she commanded, forming a long metallic staff from her Quirk. "Todoroki, take control of the field. Everyone else, engage carefully—don't let him counter too easily!"
Todoroki stepped forward, raising a hand. A jagged wall of ice erupted from the floor, roaring toward Radahn at terrifying speed. It was meant to cut off his mobility.
At the same time, Kirishima and Shoji charged from opposite sides. Kirishima's body hardened into unbreakable stone, while Shoji extended his extra arms, aiming to grab Radahn's legs and limit his movement.
In the air, Jiro and Kaminari launched their attacks. Jiro stabbed her jacks into the ground, sending a deafening sound blast toward Radahn, while Kaminari released a stun-level voltage of electricity.
The plan was sound. They were using multiple angles, terrain control, and a mix of ranged and melee attacks.
It should have worked.
But Radahn was built from war.
He moved.
Faster than they could process.
His right leg swept backward—BOOM!—a massive shockwave burst outward, shattering the ice wave before it even reached him.
Todoroki's eyes widened. 'He destroyed it with pure force?'
At that moment, Shoji and Kirishima lunged.
Radahn twisted his body, his left arm shooting forward—WHAM!—his palm met Shoji's extended arm and sent a pulse through it.
Shoji felt his entire body shake—like his bones were about to crack—before he was flung sideways, crashing into a wall.
Kirishima roared, swinging a hardened fist.
Radahn's golden eyes flicked to him.
Then, with precise timing, he deflected the strike, twisting Kirishima's wrist and sending the hardened hero into the air. Mid-spin, Radahn's knee shot up.
CRACK!
A brutal strike to Kirishima's stomach.
"GUH—" The air was knocked out of him as he was sent soaring backward.
Radahn had disabled two of them in seconds.
Jiro's sound blast and Kaminari's electricity hit—but as the smoke cleared, they saw him standing untouched.
"Impossible" Jiro gasped.
Kaminari's hands trembled. "It's like our attacks didn't even touch him."
Radahn exhaled, releasing a subtle pulse from his body.
They had no time to process before Radahn vanished.
Iida Tenya, who had been circling for an opening, saw only a flicker of movement before—
WHAM!
A fist slammed into his stomach mid-dash, stopping him cold. The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward, the sheer force lifting Iida off the ground.
His entire body shook. His vision blurred.
Then, Radahn gripped his leg—
—and spun.
Iida was whipped through the air like a hammer, crashing into Kaminari and sending both of them tumbling across the floor.
Todoroki clenched his teeth. 'He's too strong. If we don't—'
"URAAAHHHH!"
A sudden explosion rocked the field.
Bakugo.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Using AP Shot, Bakugo fired a rapid series of explosive blasts, his palms glowing with controlled detonation. The explosions rained toward Radahn like a relentless barrage.
Radahn didn't move.
The blasts struck—BOOM!—the floor trembled—BOOM!—smoke and debris erupted into the air.
For a moment, it seemed like Bakugo had landed a hit.
Then—
Through the smoke, a hand emerged.
Bakugo's eyes widened as a shadow loomed over him.
Radahn had walked through the explosions.
Unaffected.
Bakugo barely reacted in time—he launched himself backward, dodging a palm strike that shattered the entire ground beneath where he stood.
Radahn's gaze locked onto him.
"Boy." His voice was calm, yet piercing.
Bakugo felt something cold creep up his spine.
For the first time in his life…
He felt small.
His breath caught in his throat.
A deep instinct in his body screamed— this man is not to be fought head-on.
But again, Bakugo was Bakugo.
He ignored it.
He charged again, roaring—
Only for Radahn to sidestep him with unnatural grace.
Then, a single chop to the back of Bakugo's neck.
THUD.
Bakugo hit the ground—hard—unconscious before he even knew what happened.
Aizawa and All Might, watching from above, were silent.
"This is" Aizawa muttered.
All Might narrowed his eyes. "Unreal."
By now, the students were battered. Many were down, panting, struggling to rise.
Midoriya, the last one standing, clenched his fists.
His mind was spinning. He had analysed everything. Radahn's movements, his techniques, his style.
It was unlike anything he had ever seen.
Midoriya's green eyes burned with determination.
He charged.
Radahn moved.
The air in the combat room was thick with tension as Midoriya stepped forward, fists clenched. His breath was steady, yet his mind raced. He knew—no, he felt—that Hoshigami Enrai wasn't someone they could approach lightly. And yet, he had to try.
Radahn studied him for a moment, then spoke, his voice calm yet piercing.
"You're holding back. No—it's not just that. You can't unleash your true power, can you?"
Midoriya's eyes widened. He had trained endlessly, pushed himself to the brink, yet One For All still resisted him. The full potential of his power remained locked away, and every time he tried, his body couldn't handle the strain.
Radahn sighed, stepping forward, his imposing figure towering over Midoriya.
"Let me help you."
Before Midoriya could react, Radahn's massive hand gripped his head. A sudden pressure formed against his forehead as Radahn pressed his thumb against it. It was an unfamiliar sensation—not painful, but overwhelming. A rush of energy surged through Midoriya's body, like a dam breaking apart. His pupils shrank, and his veins pulsed with raw power.
A green glow erupted from his body. Sparks of lightning crackled wildly around him as his muscles expanded, his entire form radiating overwhelming energy. The air trembled under the weight of his presence.
The class gasped.
"Midoriya looks different," Todoroki murmured, eyes narrowing.
'No way... Is this One For All at full power?' All Might.
From the observation deck, All Might, who had just arrived, froze. His eyes locked onto the scene below, his heart skipping a beat.
"100%? Without injuries? How is that possible?"
Radahn released Midoriya and took a step back. His lips curled into something between amusement and approval.
"Now, show me what you can do."
Midoriya barely had time to think before his body moved. His mind screamed that this was impossible—100% of One For All should have shattered his bones, yet here he was, feeling nothing but power. He lunged forward, vanishing in a blur of green lightning, and reappeared right in front of Radahn, throwing a punch with all his strength.
A shockwave erupted as his fist connected with Radahn's forearm, which he had raised at the last second. The sheer force sent tremors through the ground, and cracks formed beneath them. Radahn's feet barely shifted, but his eyes gleamed with curiosity.
"Good. But still not enough."
Radahn retaliated instantly. His movements were impossibly fast—before Midoriya could blink, a palm strike crashed against his side, sending him skidding backward. Yet, Midoriya refused to fall. His body adjusted to the force, his instincts sharper than ever before.
He charged again. This time, he twisted mid-air,
"MANCHESTER SMASH!" a devastating axe kick aimed at Radahn's shoulder. The impact was powerful enough to send a gust of wind through the room, but Radahn merely tilted his head, dodging it by a hair's breadth.
Midoriya pivoted, unleashing a rapid flurry of punches—each carrying the strength of an army. Radahn blocked some, evaded others, his expression unreadable. Then, in a sudden burst of speed, Midoriya vanished and reappeared behind Radahn, aiming a full-powered Smash right at his back.
"DELAWARE SMASH!"
A blinding burst of wind pressure tore through the training area.
The students shielded themselves from the sheer force, eyes wide with disbelief.
"Holy crap, he's actually keeping up!" Kaminari yelled.
"Is this really Midoriya?" Jirou muttered, gripping her arm.
"He's fast." Bakugo gritted his teeth, his eyes locked onto the fight. He wouldn't admit it, but seeing Deku fight at this level made his blood boil.
A deafening sonic boom erupted as Midoriya reappeared right in front of Radahn, already mid-strike.
"DETROIT SMASH!"
His Detroit Smash came down like a meteor, splitting the air apart.
BOOM!
The force of the punch shattered the ground beneath them, sending spiderweb cracks throughout the arena. Dust and debris flew in all directions as the shockwave blasted outward.
Yet, Radahn stood still.
His hand had caught the punch.
The impact sent vibrations through his arm, but his feet didn't move an inch. His eyes gleamed—not with amusement, nor mockery, but with curiosity.
Midoriya's eyes widened.
But before he could react, Radahn's grip tightened.
With a single motion, Radahn flicked Midoriya to the side. The air cracked as Midoriya shot across the arena like a cannonball, smashing through the reinforced training dummies. Yet, before the dust could settle—
BOOM!
Midoriya reappeared mid-air, a green blur streaking across the battlefield. His Full Cowl 100% form was so fast that to the spectators, it looked as if he had completely disappeared.
"Where is he?!" Kaminari shouted, his head snapping in different directions.
"I can't see a damn thing!" Kirishima gritted his teeth.
"Is that really Midoriya moving?!" Uraraka gasped.
Even Todoroki and Bakugo, who had trained alongside Midoriya didn't knew he could pull this off.
"He's—he's this fast?!" Todoroki muttered.
Bakugo narrowed his eyes.
Midoriya darted around Radahn at impossible speeds, his afterimages flickering in and out of existence. Then, in an instant, he appeared right above Radahn, twisting mid-air for a Manchester Smash.
Radahn dodged.
But Midoriya was already there.
Using his raw speed, he adjusted mid-motion, twisting again—this time aiming a Delaware Smash Barrage. His fingers flicked at insane speeds, sending a series of compressed air bullets toward Radahn, each one carrying enough force to topple a building.
The first few missed.
The next few? Radahn simply walked through them.
The shockwaves carved deep trenches into the combat room's reinforced walls, but Radahn continued advancing without hesitation.
Midoriya, now fully lost in the thrill of battle, clenched both fists and unleashed a Texas Smash, the sheer force creating an air vacuum as it rocketed toward Radahn.
This time, Radahn moved.
With a single side step, he vanished from Midoriya's sight.
Midoriya's pupils shrank—
"Behind me—!"
Too late.
A hand gripped the back of his Shirt.
And then—
Midoriya felt his entire world flip.
With incomprehensible speed, Radahn grabbed Midoriya and slammed him headfirst into the ground. A shockwave erupted, the impact forming a deep crater beneath them. The entire arena trembled.
For a moment, silence.
Then—
BOOM!
Midoriya exploded out of the ground with another burst of One For All 100%, twisting in mid-air and throwing a kick. Radahn caught it with one hand.
Before Midoriya could react, Radahn yanked him forward and drove his knee into his stomach.
Midoriya's breath hitched. The sheer force left him paralyzed, his body momentarily shutting down from the impact.
The students gasped as they saw the life drain from Midoriya's eyes.
"He's—" Jirou whispered, unable to finish her sentence.
Radahn held him for a second, then released his grip. Midoriya dropped to the floor, completely unconscious.
The green lightning crackling around him vanished.
The air became still.
Radahn straightened his sleeves, exhaling calmly.
"Your power is remarkable, Midoriya. But it is not enough."
Midoriya had fought at 100% power without breaking a single bone. That alone was impossible.
All Might stood frozen, his usual confident demeanour replaced by a deep, unsettling curiosity. He had seen power before—true, overwhelming power—but this was different. The way Hoshigami Enrai moved, the sheer control he exerted over the fight, it was as if he had lived through countless battles, as if combat was second nature to him.
Midoriya had gone beyond his limits, wielding One For All at 100% without any backlash, yet it still wasn't enough. His movements had been nothing short of incredible—a green blur tearing through the air, his blows sending shockwaves across the arena. And yet, Enrai had countered everything effortlessly, his strikes precise, devastating, almost like he had fought someone with similar power before.
All Might's eyes narrowed. Something about Enrai's fighting style nagged at him, like a half-forgotten memory just out of reach. He exhaled slowly, glancing at the unconscious Midoriya.
All Might deep in thoughts , his mind racing. "Enrai didn't just overpower Midoriya—he unlocked his Quirk, allowed him to wield One For All at 100% without harm. But how? What kind of ability lets someone manipulate another's Quirk like that?"
His gaze lingered on the calm yet imposing figure of Hoshigami Enrai. "Just what is his Quirk? No—what is he?"
"Even One For All at 100% is not his match. Who is he, really?" He frowned. "Guess I'll have to ask Nezu."
But what truly unsettled him was Radahn's movements—the way he fought. There was something so eerily familiar about his battle style.
And yet, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember where he had seen it before.
As the students rushed to check on Midoriya, one thought lingered in the air.
