Chapter 279: Chapter 279 : The Very Very Very Big Elephant
The journey with the Straw Hat pirates on the Thousand Sunny was peaceful and full of laughter. Sanji cooked delicious meals every day, making everyone look forward to the next bite. Even Ace, who stayed awake while eating, couldn't help but finish Sanji's cooking completely before going back to his awkward meal-time slumber. Maki, though quiet most of the time, kept going back for seconds.
Perhaps it was her awakened body or this world's hard training, but her food consumption had skyrocketed. Not only her, but even Yuta had started eating more. His body just needed the nutrients to keep up with the crazy training they went through.
While talking with the few Straw Hat members was fun, the journey to their new destination was a quicker one than they imagined it would be. Since there was no problem in between, the journey went through easily enough.
After a short voyage, they reached the next island. Of course, it wasn't an island at all.
Instead, what stood before them was a giant elephant. Not just big—unbelievably huge. Its legs reached far into the clouds, and its back was so high it looked like another world in the sky.
Everyone stared in awe, even Yuta who knew what to expect, simply because he had never seen something so big in this life. Never. However, it was Maki who was the most shocked. Her jaw dropped, and she didn't say a single word for minutes. It was the fact that there was an entire kingdom on the elephant's back.
"This… this can't be real," she finally muttered.
"Told you, you haven't seen everything..." Yuta snickered, seeing the awed face on Maki. It's hard to make her lose her composure.
"This is Zunesha," Brook explained. "An ancient elephant that's been walking the sea for centuries. The Mink Tribe lives up there—on its back—in a place called the Mokomo Dukedom."
"Unreal," Ace said, shading his eyes. This was also his first time seeing this beast with his own eyes. "I've seen giants. I've seen Sea Kings. But this?"
"A world which only Oda knows." Yuta just shook his head and sighed. Out of all the worlds, this was the most ridiculous, and time and time again he had learned this firsthand.
But now came the real challenge—how to get up there.
They searched for a way, but there was no lift, no flying ship, and no clear path up. The only option was to climb. The elephant's leg was wider than a castle and just as rough as a stone wall.
However, that was when the Straw Hats looked at one tied-up Caesar Clown.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"I'm not sure, but I do believe we all are thinking exactly the same thing."
"Shurorororor... why are you all looking at me like this? We can't climb that thing. Let's turn back."
"Not so quick..." Nami on the side suddenly took out the separated heart of one Caesar Clown with a malicious look on her face.
"Shurororor... what are you planning?" He frantically looked between all of us, sweat beading down his brows.

The morning sun rose over the Grand Line like any other day. But today wasn't just any other day.
High above the seas, a News Coo—a large bird that delivered newspapers—soared through the skies with a stack of fresh headlines. One headline, in particular, stood out:
"JACK THE DROUGHT DEFEATED! WHITEBEARD'S GHOST RETURNS?! YUTA SIGHTED!"
The news spread like wildfire. People from all corners of the world picked up the paper and gasped. A major member of the Beast Pirates—Jack, one of the Three Calamities—was dead. And the one who defeated him wasn't a Yonko, a Marine Admiral, or a Warlord.
It was Yuta. The boy who vanished after the Summit War two years ago. The news about him fighting against all three Admirals was suppressed to minimise Marine losses and save face. However, this further justified the absurdly high first-time bounty the Marines gave to this boy. That's why Yuta became even more famous, because of the mystery surrounding him.
Only a few knew why this boy was so dangerous, why he was given such a high bounty, and why the Marines were searching for him.
Until now, no one knew where he had gone.
In small towns, people stared at the newspaper in disbelief. In pirate bars, captains froze, their drinks halfway to their mouths. In the underworld, whispers turned into loud conversations. Who was this boy to take down someone like Jack?
But two places felt the impact harder than anyone else.
New Marineford – Headquarters of the Marines
Fleet Admiral Akainu held the paper tightly in his hand. His teeth clenched, and his face burned with rage.
"Two years," he growled, slamming the desk. "Two years we've been searching for this brat, and he shows up just like that?!"
Beside him, several Vice Admirals stood in silence, watching him carefully.
"Prepare everything," Akainu ordered. "We can't let this go. I want that brat dead or alive before me at all costs."
The room tensed. The Marines had thought Yuta was lost forever. Now, they knew better. And the hunt would begin again.
Wano Country – Onigashima, Beast Pirates Base
The mood in Kaido's stronghold turned dark. A messenger ran into the main hall, holding the newspaper.
"King! Bad news!" he shouted.
King, Kaido's right hand, took the paper and read the headline. His eyes narrowed behind his mask.
"So… Jack is dead," he said calmly.
Queen, nearby, looked over his shoulder. "No way. Jack? Taken out by a kid?!"
King crushed the paper in his hand. "This… Yuta. Whoever he is, he's made a big mistake."
"Huh? Do you really believe this paper? It must be Ace, the second division captain of that damn Whitebeard Pirate."
Kaido would not take this lightly. Jack was one of his strongest men.
"Send word to the others," King said. "We need to prepare. If that boy comes here next, we'll be ready."
Back on the sea, Yuta had no idea what storm he had started. He didn't know that his face, once forgotten, was now back on the world's radar.
For him, the biggest hurdle currently was this seemingly endless climb they were undertaking.
