Chapter 42: Chapter 42 Mission Success

"Ganging up on a single person, attacking from behind… YOU ARE ALL FAKE HEROES!"

Stain was furious. Those three young heroes seemed to encompass everything he wanted to destroy, but he could also not deny that their powers were strong, and if it wasn't for his experience, then the attack just now – would have been enough to take him out.

The three Hero Course students were tense, Midoriya and Kirishima because they hadn't found a way to break through, and Souta because he needed to find a way to take out Stain as quickly as possible.

A few seconds into their stare-down, Souta leaned slightly towards Kirishima, trying to speak as lightly as possible, "Dude, you need to distract him for just a few seconds. Do you think you can manage that?"

Kirishima was tense and sweat poured down his face, just this short encounter before had drained him. It was the second time he was facing a real fight, the first time though, he had just needed to somehow manage to withstand a single punch – and on top of that, had also had the support of Shoji.

Nevertheless, his fist clenched tight, his face became even more serious, and his mind began to calm down, "Trust me, I'll hold him down for as long as you need, buddy."

Souta then leaned over to Midoriya, who was currently catching his breath, "I can't really use my fire or ice here freely, since it would most likely hit you too. Therefore, I will need you to either tackle him to the ground alongside Kirishima or somehow bring him into the air."

"Then I can take him down."

"Just beware of his sword, okay?" Souta gave his advice and was already preparing for the final move, after Midoriya nodded in agreement.

He wanted to end this as soon as possible, his gut was telling him that if he did not, something truly bad would surely happen. So, everything needed to end with the next attack of theirs.

Stain hadn't been idle while they were talking though, his mind had already calculated everything he had just seen and was trying to find a way to either beat those damn kids, or make a run for it.

He had already wounded the Pro hero severely, everything more would mostly be a bonus, but not necessary.

While Stain was still trying to find a way out of it, Souta already began his plan.

A blue mist began forming directly below Kirishima and brought him directly down on the Hero Killer, "NOW, KIRISHIMA!"

His friend was surprised for a second, but was brought back to their current fight through the shout of his friend, and instantly activated his quirk, "Red Riot: Unbreakable!"

Stain was stunned again, before he had hypothesized that Souta could only teleport himself, since hadn't seen how they had appeared, but now that was a mistake on his part.

Regardless, his years of vigilante – and now villain – work had taught him many things, and steeled his mind.

Kirishima was nearly immediately after activating his quirk on the villain and engaged him into close quarter combat. He with his fist and hardened skin, and Stain with his etched katana.

Midoriya had already activated his Full Cowling: 5%, his current limit of sustained use, and was rushing straight at Stain, trying to remain relatively hidden behind either garbage lying around or Kirishima. He made the distance in mere moments, effectively entering Stain's reach – and therefore zone.

The second he stepped into reach, the villain's sword was already right next to his face. Midoriya tried to stop his momentum, or at the very least duck down, but it was impossible to evade. Bracing for impact he even closed his eyes, but the only thing he heard was a clank sound before another thud echoed in the alleyway.

'What has just happened?' Midoriya thought shocked.

What happened was relatively simple, the still engaged Kirishima had somewhat expected Midoriya's appearance there and had originally wanted to give his classmate an opening, but Stain had reacted to Midoriya on pure instinct, rather than calculated skill, making him vulnerable for the attack that was already coming for him.

"That was sick man! Now let me finish this," Souta's voice came from above them, with a somewhat exited tone.

Since the moment Midoriya had begun his attack as well, Souta had used the distractions to get to an advantageous position, namely the sky – well, a few meters above them.

He hadn't used his fire to reach there, but had utilized the things he had learned while patrolling with Mirko. His Full Cowling was held at an easy 15%, to not – by accident damage the walls or even crash through.

Souta jumped once and then ricocheted himself off one of the alleyway's walls, reaching just above his two classmates.

What followed next was him falling down, directly towards the currently disoriented Stain, even further using his fire to give him another controlled burst of speed, before eventually reaching the villain, and hitting him with a lessened force of barely 10%, as well as his newly mastered ice technique.

The result was a knocked out, and thoroughly frozen Stain, who crashed to the ground, causing the thud sound, that Midoriya had just heard.

Both of his classmates looked at him in surprise, though even Souta had to agree that it seemed awfully simple. But, to be fair, they had two people with probably the strongest physical enhancement quirk, as well as the perfect counter against their enemy, any other outcome would've been more surprising.

With the defeat of the hero killer, a blue translucent screen also appeared in Souta's field of view, and he took a short moment to read over it.

'Right, we still need to make sure he survives, though he shouldn't be too severely injured, right? Also, what is this fusion card? Whatever, i'll look into it after this is over,' Souta thought, but then first turned to his green-haired classmate, "Midoriya, is the Hero you're interning under, Gran Torino, somewhere around here?"

"N- No, I don't think so. A minute or so, before I stumbled into this alley and found Iida, we got separated. I am not sure, where he could be right now." Midoriya answered after a moment of thought.

Souta shook his head, while having a complicated look on his face, "Listen, I know that what I'm about to say sounds extremely hypocritical, but I need to nonetheless. You two, please stay here, and look after both of them, we don't know how long they will be paralyzed for, or if they have sustained any severe injuries."

"And what about you then, Souta?" Midoriya asked, clearly perplexed.

But it wasn't Souta that responded, but Kirishima, "You don't seriously want to go where Mirko- and Fat Gum-san went before, right? If so, there is no way I'll let you head over there on your own, dude."

Souta merely shook his head, "Not this time. I have a very bad feeling and need to do what I must. Even if it only saves one more life, I need to go. Remember, my name is not just a name, it is a promise."

"Souta-san, we can help you in saving even more people, and share the work between us," Deku wanted to suggest, but was stopped by a gesture of Souta.

"No. I don't want to insult any of you, but you would significantly slow me down, and you would also most likely become liabilities. Also, the time ticks. So, please, just look after the two, and bring them to the hospital if needed." Souta said fully resolute.

The next moment, Souta was already starting to disappear through one of his gates. The other two didn't even have the time to fully react, or reach out to him, before he was gone.

Kirishima was so pissed, he kicked a random empty can that lay around. Midoriya was similarly downcast. Both weren't angry, because of Souta saying these words. It was because the words were the truth.

What could've taken Souta barely a minute, if even, they struggled to accomplish at all. Especially Midoriya, who had already fought with Stain even before the other two arrived.

They, bot had clearly already forgotten that for this fast and efficient takedown of Stain, both played a role. One of them was facing Stain directly, and holding his ground, while the other provided the perfect distraction to the Hero Killer.

Souta, indeed had the resources to most likely take down Stain by himself, but even he had judged this to be the most effective way in their situation.

Meanwhile with Souta

His portal's destination was the last location he had received from Mirko.

Though, the first and only thing greeting him on the other side was a giant black fist heading straight towards his face.
